  1. Most Euro Fords already have heated windshields installed which make way more sense for an electric vehicle; they never offered Quick-clear on US/Canadian Models (short of the TC and Explorer Mountaineer in 2006-2010) They always site low take but part of it was dealers would never order it for stock items (even in the north) Never made sense not to offer it on the Edge as they were built on the same line and could have been included with the Cold Weather Package rather than the heated wiper park -- which goes to the other thread on how Ford wastes billions duplicating engineering. Design a heated windshield, then design a heated wiper park for the same vehicle to accomplish the same thing only worse, Then remove the heated wiper park to save costs.

  2. Hate to break it to you but the Moroun family owns all of it now, even though it’s still split into 2 parcels, and it is still connected to CN from the south via the bridge at Jefferson/King. They got special permission from the FRA to move the old plant switcher off the property over the bridge after it was sold and shipped to Virginia for rebuilding. Amazingly the old locomotive moved under its own power despite sitting for 25 years exposed to the elements. There’s some work going on at the north end with the old rails being dug out and what appears to be a segment of prefabricated rail in the trench that was left behind waiting on ballast. I’ve been wanting to ride my bike up that way to take some pictures to ask some railfan friends if they know anything about it but I haven’t been able to make the time to do it. The eminent domain thing was Grosse Ile attempting to seize the Toll Bridge from the Voith family for fear of the unknown of what Matty Moroun’s intentions were with the RTRR property and crossing over Jefferson. The crossing hadn’t been disconnected yet at the time but the signs had long been removed. The township supervisor thought it was best for the township to control the bridge since Wayne County owns the other one and there was a fear that the Morouns would buy it out and severely limit access to the island for medical care to Wyandotte hospital. The whole process was bungled and the township lost badly in court. I was in high school when all that went down, I grew up on GI. I have a friend who is very involved with the City of Trenton and City of Riverview, the RTRR is literally at this moment a shell company and nothing more. They have never once presented any kind of business plan to either city council nor have they ever reached out to the cities for any kind of support.

  3. This is what I also assumed they would do. Not sure how they could use a heat pump to heat the panels themselves.

  6. I know they still own it, was just talking about incorporation of the railroad company was the fastest way to stop the eminent domain process when Crown transferred title to the railroad shell. I agree the whole process was bungled GI/Riverview acted way too slow and more so forgot the wide political connections the Moroun family has. Also the reason the Maroons sold the train station and have been much more quite was that the political climate changed drastically for them, their lobbying isn't buying the clout in Detroit/Lansing it once did with all their failed promises over the past 40 years. Basically Detroit was going to blight the property, tear it down and bill them; Detroit also pulled a play from them and owns the property under the bridge which used to be the huge railroad yard and ferry's to Canada. When it became available they took it for public use. Government (Federal/State/local) have first right of refusal from the STB when a railroad is decommissioned. So the property he needs to build his new bridge on is owned by Detroit. This is where it gets interesting; It also plays issue with the parcels in Mcclouth as if they want to decommission the Trenton-Riverview railroad and apply to the STB, State of Michigan, Wayne County and Riverview and Trenton have first right before the property can be sold. But to Circle back, the NIMBYS that are complaining about the battery plant don't have the political capital or money to stop it. Just people complaining and now it becomes a news story as it is good fro clicks.

  7. I see that a lot, it's sad. Considering the fact that Ford in other parts of the world have a better track record.

  8. What’s going on with the 7.3 ? I saw something awhile back but thought they had fix that problem

  9. 7Mary3, there may be more to this E-Series update than a minor refresh if the wheels and tires being tested on that E-450 are any indication. Tires looked narrow to me, and zooming in on picture confirmed they are 215/75R17.5 (Conti Hybrid), which have much higher load capacity (roughly 1,000 pounds higher per tire or more). Tire diameter is about the same as the SRW E-Series, so shouldn’t require a lift or different fenders like the old E-550 needed. Ford may not be thinking of taking E-Series all the way to 19,500-pound GVWR as with previous E-550, but that they are testing much higher-capacity tires and wheels is interesting.

  10. Same here! Ordered a pretty standard F350 Lariat Ultimate on 10/28 and nothing back from Ford. Dealer tells me it will be scheduled "any day now" but they've said that for two months. They did upgrade me from priority 19 to priority 10 about 4 weeks ago and still nada. They also said that the factory is reporting "no constraints" on options so nothing should be delaying the scheduling. I saw a photo today on Facebook of the Kentucky Racetrack "storage parking lot" with 1000's of super dutys waiting for the OKTB. So seems like until that is done, nobody is getting one. I guess I'd rather have mine built later and shipped immediately rather than have it sitting in a lot for who knows how long. ?

  11. Not surprising after Ford having the most recalls in 2022 (at least in North America), they just had another recall that involves the Ford F-150, Mustang, Explorer, Bronco, & Lincoln Aviator, and it's only the second month of 2023. On the EV side, Ford had to pause F150 Lightning production because a Lightning's battery caught fire during its pre-delivery quality check. Hopefully this is isolated and won't cause any recalls. There are many issues that don't extend to Ford vehicles built outside North America but it does affect the image of the blue oval every time it come up on the news. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perhaps the Pacifica (a Chrysler exclusive platform/model) contributed to its low ranking?

  12. I’m assuming I’m like some of you on here . I see lots of posts where people got their vins and a date . I haven’t . Ordered 10/27/22. No trims or items that were supposed to be job 2 and still nothing . Is it likely I have nothing because I’m priority 19? I’m guessing that’s the case . Just wondering if there are others like me out there

  13. BTW, looks like the E series is only getting a minor refresh: https://fordauthority.com/2023/02/ford-e-series-refresh-spotted-testing-for-first-time/ In other news from the same source, they are reporting the 'economy' version of the 7.3L will be dropped from the E series. My guess is it will be replaced by the 6.8L.

  15. Who knows what algorithm and information is being used. Mine (Platinum Hybrid AWD almost fully loaded) was order confirmed September 27 2022 On December 15th was notified that the build is scheduled for week of Feb 20. On January 17th, I was then notified that the build had been moved to week of Feb 27. My dealer then notified me on Feb 13th that the date had been moved to week of March 7th When the announcement came out for the LAP shutdown I went and looked at the tracker and it had been moved to March 14th and today it's blank. Oh well, Fingers crossed that once they get the issue ironed out, that they will be able to catch up.

  16. The oldest is the S. I'll concede the sheetmetal hasn't changed much, but to say they haven't changed under the sheet metal is just flat out wrong. the 3 is 5? years old, Y even newer. Semi ramping, Cybertruck coming this year even if you still think it won't. I don't particularly care for the looks of most of the models (I do think the S plaid is pretty damn cool), but the processes and results are what Ford needs to be looking at when going after BEV sales. The giga plants are scaling as we speak and they are pretty much on target for their 50% yoy long term growth while maintaining industry leading margins.. and still able to cut prices. They're definitely doing something right and I think Farley recognizes that.

  17. Nobody said Tesla hasn’t innovated the assembly process or that they haven’t simplified and cut costs or that Ford needs improvement in those areas, But that doesn’t change the facts about Tesla’s financials and the difference between making the same 4 similar body styles for a decade at lower volumes and making a full range of vehicles at 10x the volume. Some things don’t scale up as easily. Try looking at the facts and don’t just blindly accept all the hype.

  18. Good points 7Mary3. I don't think Farley and Lawler are creating a 'good Ford' and 'bad Ford' with Model e and Blue, that duality simply reflects the current state of a global automotive industry that is transitioning to 100% electric vehicles. The ultimate goal for Farley, Lawler, and other Ford executives is to no longer straddle the old and new worlds of the auto industry (to paraphrase what Jim Hackett said a few years ago). Hopefully in the next few years we'll hear about Ford's strategy to wind down and/or spin off Ford Blue.

  21. Speaking of image, Ford's constant quality issues certainly give credence to the saying "Fix Or Repair Daily". Both for Ford vehicles themselves and for the company's operations.
