We, Ford of Canada have been picked three times straight by unifor. There will be NO strike! We’re just starting to get back to the plant and it is slow as hell in there as we are only in TT2 phase. NOV 2 is the ok to ship date right now. We aren’t going to strike Ford and Unifor are a partnership as far as I’m concerned. Everytime unifor says they’re gonna strike at the last minute a deal is reached. We are in no position to strike for fuck all right now. I’m just happy to have just got back in the building. Also, the union wants to start negotiations early with ford. I ll keep you guys posted.

It wouldn’t shock me to see Fain not survive the coming election. I certainly hope he doesn’t. I’ve already gotten the impression he’s going to strike no matter what and we don’t need that.

Of course dumping the Edge was “moronic”. It was simply long in the tooth. A new Edge on C2 was needed. Instead it was dropped and the plant was reconfigured twice at a cost of hundreds of millions. Plus zero revenue for the past two years. It will take years for Ford to recoup those dollars making the Super Duty.

This has been coming for years. In the 1990s I used to buy the big servicing book from Ford for my vehicles but by the early 2000s they stopped access to them, had to work for a Ford dealer.

I have seen those. Basically a heavy duty F-100 with F-250 axles, front hubs, and wheels. Theory behind the F-130 was to address component shortages.

As long as they offer a longer range model, it’ll be fine. If they have one and done, I think that may harm sales. yeah that’s why I’ve long said it’s going to take a big mindset change because tjj oh I’ll charge from home instead of “oh I’ll stop and get gas on the way” for most people in everyday use. It’s the trips where it becomes more of an issue.

I think range anxiety has become charge anxiety. Charge times and quantity have to come down. All the "Add 150 miles of range in as little as 15 minutes!" advertising is having little effect in the marketplace. Once that becomes, "Add 350mi range in 7 minutes," EV's will be at parity with ICEV's. Just don't install those banal tv sets in the charging stations.

When we were buying our Escape in 2023, we also considered the BS, but the interior space of the BS was sufficient to disqualify it. I think the size of the BS does not translate for a lot of Escape buyers.

Here lies the issue-its a bit more phycological then a real issue The range thing is like this-ok you have a gas car but it only has a 10 gallon tank so you can only go about 200-250 miles for example. Is the buyer always going to keep the tank full? How many times are people driving 250+ miles in one shot regularly? If your commuting (using myself-but I do have a short drive to work-30 miles or so round trip) I can basically drive all week to and from work and not worry about it. I get there are other people out there that drive differently, but the vast majority of the issues do go away if you can charge at home. It causes an additional "headache" if you live in high density areas though..but that is up to the end user to decide if they can make a lifestyle change or not to support the vehicle. But all this said is why there is push back against EVs by normies-they don't want to change their behaviors or expect an EV to act exactly like an ICE

Crossover. The sedan is for sure flat rock unless they move the coupe and shut it down. Cuautitlan might handle all 3.

And don’t gaslight people into some overly optimistic range value, if the average driver won’t ever get 250 then call it 225 or 210 thinking of cold winters in snow states….

I'll be paying particular attention to the charging stations in my small town in northern Michigan. I'm 3-4 hours north of the Detroit area and it's common for test vehicles from all manufacturers to stop here to have lunch, take a bathroom break, and charge their EV's. I've talked to many engineers while they charge their vehicles.

It does for what the Edge ended up as which was expensive to build and lacking a hybrid powertrain. Instead they'll replace it with a mustang crossover offering high performance and styling. Had they moved it to C2 with updated styling and a hybrid powertrain like Nautilus then I think both would still be in Oakville. You can get away with higher costs if you're not in a competitive segment like Maverick and Bronco sport. But when you're competing with 8 other blobs you better have super low build cost if you want to make money because the price pressure from the Koreans and Nissan is relentless.

Yeah, the Edge was a mistake, and Ford knows that. Had the 3-row BEV panned out, it would be a different story. On the flip side, there will be more profit from the Super Duty at OAC than Edge was generating.
