I made this rack system for my 2020 Ranger for hauling 4x8 plywood. I've also hauled 2"x6"x10' lumber with it. It's not ideal for 10' dimensional lumber but it works. I used clamps to keep the lumber from moving.

They work okay in small vehicles where the ICE would be adequate in a conventional ICE version of the same vehicle. But I don’t think what RAM is doing is going to work. I saw rumor talk on a RAM forum that they may be changing to a more capable ICE. I hope Ford doesn’t follow this path for the F-150 Lightning EREV.1 point

Looking at the dimensions of the Maverick, Ranger and F-150 you can see that the current Ranger doesn’t split the difference very well. The Ranger is much closer in size to the Maverick than the F-150. Growing the size of the F-100 by several inches will position it more equally between them and achieve what @jpd80 is talking about. This makes sense to me.1 point
