  1. Funny, I had suggested a while ago they try to build more things on CD6 to try to get what they can out of that platform but was told over and over that "no CD6 is dead" "there's no business case" "they are better off using C2"

  2. Yup, and with the data point of the Mustang ICE crossover, along with Farley's comments of "big" changes for Nautilus, it only makes sense that it'd pair with that vehicle. It'd also give Lincoln the opportunity to give it a more performance angle, should they choose...

  3. Neither, just regular over-the-air TV. I don’t see the point of paying for garbage when they’re broadcasting plenty of it for free…

  4. I love the Carshield commercials with Ice-T and other b list celebrities. Don't get blindsided with a $2000 repair. Pay us $4000 and we'll take care of it!

  5. I made this rack system for my 2020 Ranger for hauling 4x8 plywood. I've also hauled 2"x6"x10' lumber with it. It's not ideal for 10' dimensional lumber but it works. I used clamps to keep the lumber from moving.

  6. Ford's focus on quality (and product planning for that matter) over the years......

  7. The automobile is the most grossly over- engineered thing on the planet. Engine and vehicle efficiencies and tech more or less came to maturity by the 1990s with microntroller based engine and powertrain systems. The Chevy Chevette Isuzu Diesel achieved 73 mpg highway, mid 1980s, my in laws still have theirs, so don't tell me more engineering driving up costs is needed. IIRC there was also a Ford van sort of vehicle from that era with similar mpg I can do that kind of engineering, I know it isnt needed. Theres no reason to keep expanding and reengineering to keep adding electronics, thats not transportation. These new vehicles are UGLY and they all look the same. Tell the Fed to stuff their CAFE rules and give us 75 -100 mpg. CAFE isnt about saving fuel, its about using enough to keep prices lower. There's been a trend in decreasing quantities of vehicle lubricants with things like 'lifetime trans fluid' , time for fuel to do the same. Fuel use kills engine oil. I modified my F250 land yacht to get max of 33mpg at about 45mph, level ground. In addition, there needs to be, in addition to features like cruise control ( constant speed) a 'high mileage' mode allowing speed changes to get higher mileage. Softer takeoffs, less torque (speed) on uphills. High compression, bio diesel. Ignore the legacy hysteria about 'dirty diesel,' thats history.

  8. Where do you guys make up this stuff? RX is $53k - $73k. Nautilus is $53k - $77k.

  9. I think we've all been on board that train of it'd be better to use CD6. But until recently, the CD6 approach for Edge/Nautilus was canned in favor of the version we got, which as sales have shown works for a lot of customers (and would've for Edge too). For whatever reason, that approach has seemingly changed back to trying something RWD, and CD6 is the only platform they have to meet that. There has to be some reason behind it, unless it just broadly fits under the "passion/no boring products" umbrella? FWIW, Borg's response was: I'm not aware of additional vehicles on CD6 tbh, is that a thing? I don't know the state of the off-roading Mustang either now that the 4-Door Mustang is just a RWD Hybrid. I have good reason to believe CD6 won't survive the next-gen Explorer/Aviator at least. It does sound like Lincoln has a new slogan, "Elegant Force" instead of "Quiet Flight". I guess they are focusing on more performance powertrains for Lincoln....kinda like they use to. But ExplorerDude has been more reliable, so I'd trust his info over Borg's info.

  11. Yeah, I remember sitting in Ranger and Maverick at auto shows, and the cabs felt pretty similar space wise, especially in the rear seat. So from that perspective, you're looking at a capability upgrade between the two, not so much cab room/features. I always thought that they were going to eventually come out with the SuperCab again, after launching with crew cab only, but I guess they figured they wanted to maintain Bronco production rather than give some over to SuperCab Ranger production. I'd be surprised if this "F-100" doesn't bring something like that back since they'll have to fill the factory with whatever they can.

  12. Ford Banked Quality Turnaround On Over 300 Technical Specialists We also know that Ford brought back a number of "gray beard engineers" as part of its quality overhaul, but now, we're learning that it also brought in a host of technical specialists as well, according to Automotive News. The Blue Oval has either hired or promoted around 350 of them across the last three years, all of whom have one specific responsibility as it pertains to a part or component - such as a person tasked with preventing issues with vehicle wiring or engine contamination.
