JPD seemed to indicate that the BS would still be at Hermosillo The question of the hour is how does Ford mitigate the tariff issues that importing the BS from Spain would cause. They are currently using Bonded carriers for Canada and Mexico https://fordauthority.com/2025/05/ford-sidesteps-trump-tariffs-with-bonded-carrier-pivot/

I wasn't worried about Louisville-I was worried about Hermosillo Just looking at current production numbers: They sold roughly 125K Bronco Sports and 130K Mavericks. Then add in another 30-50K Maverick van sales AND another C2 based PHEV CUV that would sell anywhere from 125-140K units alone, they might have issues with capacity.

Well here lies the issue-adding a van and another product to Hermosillo will seriously limit how many Bronco Sports they can make. So there are lots of factors at play here-looking at this holistically from just the North American perspective: Louisville shutting down-no more Escape and Corsair imported from China to hold it over for the time being. CE1 production starting with a pickup like vehicle that is slightly larger then the Maverick and smaller then the Ranger in 2027. Some sort of EV CUV a year later Bronco Sport-next gen production in 2027 in Spain. C2 PHEV CUV starting production in 2029 or so at Hermosillo-Escape/Edge replacement or what? Maverick based van to replace Transit Connect in NA market-when? The CE1 pickup and CUV might impact Maverick sales and the CUV might be an Escape replacement? If demand for the Maverick goes down, that would be filled by the van and C2 PHEV The big elephant in the room is does Ford still make BOC an EV plant going forward? How soft are EV sales going to be till say 2032?

That is the EPA CAFE classification, not how it is imported. That is the reason Ford got into trouble with the Transit Connect-they brought them over as passenger vans then ripped out the seats. The Bronco Sport would be either a wagon or crossover, which I believe aren't impacted by that. Also the tariff rates for importing ANY car unless you have a special deal (UK and South Korea for now) is 25%. I'm guessing their is some work arounds to that (I've saw that Ford is using a Bonded shipper?) to help mitigate the tariff issues.

But yet you completely ignore the Maverick and Bronco Sport, which are "affordable" without being cheap-they turn a profit presumably and offer up sale value post sale in the form of accessories, further increasing their profits. The Escape is going away in North America, but will apparently live on in other parts of the world and the Focus and Fiesta went away due to EU markets wanting CUVs like NA. There is a replacement coming for it that will be based off the Maverick, which will help it be profitable hopefully-the Kuga based C1/2 platform really hurt the Escape for the past 12 years or so due to it being overly premium for this market at least. While the actual design of the CE1 can't or isn't well suited to going to ICE, the processes of how its made and design can be. The other thing with the CE1 is that it will offer a form factor that is appealing at a price point that is affordable and will be desirable to buyers. IMO the vast majority of desirable EVs start in the 50-60K range-if that price point can be dropped 15-20K, you'll find more buyers will to try it because it will be affordable. Also it seems like CE1 will be designed from the get go to easily/profitably spawn other models like a sedan/CUV/Van easily that will help pay for development costs.

Ford Decontenting Thread

While personally I'm not a fan of this, in the grand scheme of things how many buyers are actually noticing this? I can point out so many cases of people buying different things and not actually using the item or even knowing about it. I could change the color of my lighting in my Mustang and in my SHO-does it really impact what the car can do? Nah. Also keep in mind articles like this are more or less "hit pieces" to drive traffic to a website for advertising-articles on MSN/Yahoo etc are often just republished articles from other websites-I know this because some sites are filtered at work (say gaming websites) but if they are under MSN/Yahoo I can see them. The only thing I've noticed over the past 10-15 years that made me go WTH was my wifes Bronco Sport only has single temp control vs dual temp control for the HVAC, but in the grand scheme of things, for a car that is going to have only one person in it 90% of the time, do you actually need it? -
More info on how China handles its currency https://www.mizuhogroup.com/binaries/content/assets/pdf/mizuho-bank/insights/cndb/press/r525-0007-xf-0102.pdf Also keep in mind I'm going to guess that manufacturing costs are much cheaper in China then they are in the western world, which helps keep prices lower.

I'm assuming the Maverick SUV is the Bronco Sport sister product. The Maverick is quite a bit longer then the Bronco Sport and the Escape. The Transit Connect is either 173.9 inches (SWB)/(LWB): Approximately 189.7 to 190 inches...since there apparently a Va n coming too. I can see the Maverick based SUV being a Edge/Escape replacement that has Bronco type styling? It would avoid it being a commodity product that Ford has been railing about.

Ford Universal Electric Platform

While the Challenger isn't being sold, they are making a two door Charger The Camaro is in the shitty position of having the Corvette above it, so it's a redheaded step child. The Mustang is one of Fords Halo cars so it doesn't have to deal with that. -

I think some of the sales numbers of the S650 is Ford inflicted and not the market per say. If it wasn't profitable or at least breaking even, Ford would be doing something else or getting rid of it (though that would be highly unlikely)
