Ford's new path forward
Sherminator98 replied to mackinaw's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Affordable is nebulous term-I see it as a product that still makes a profit. Not sure Ford can sell a cheaper product under the Maverick, plus an EV Truck. Just as an example-looking at it being "affordable" The math I used-starting MSRP for the lowest end trim and highest end trim to get the average price. $5K downpayment over 60 months at 5% interest Maverick payment would be `$643.41 a month Ranger payment $865.01 CE1 EV Assumed $35K starting price and the top end going up to 50K $841 payment Cheap Small pickup-$22K starting MSRP and it topping out at $36K $542 a month payment -

LOL what the hell do you need a 15-20K Server for personal use for? -
Outside of new trim levels, any actual sheet metal changes won't happen for another couple years.

The Maverick moved up in price partly due to inflation, which has affected every other car too. Just looking at the Nissan Versa-It cost $14800 back in 2020 and is 18-20K today-a nearly 4-6K increase that the Maverick has seen also. Also why build a product that is going to be lucky to sell 100K units or so a year at a brand new plant that can most likely do 3-4X that a year? The Ranger sold about 100K units in 2020 and 2021 and has seen a significant drop since the Bronco came out. Does Ford see that much of a demand for it that isn't been filled? -

My thoughts-I've been working in IT for almost 30 years now and AI, while it can be useful for certain things, is getting to the point that we are going to see a VERY ugly crash due to the overinvestment in it. DRAM prices are crazy due to shortages...just as an example, I built a new PC over the summer and put 64GB of RAM into it and it cost about $190 bucks-the same RAM goes for $900 now! There so far companies haven't been able to find a useful/profitable use for AI-something like 95% of deployments fail. Consumers aren't interested in AI enabled things and are distrustful of the tech. Yeah 15-30 second meme videos are cute/funny, but can you actually make money off it? Is it worth the 20-40% increase in electrical bills? I see the AI bubble blowing up like dot com crash did back 25 years ago. -

What would be the actual point with having the Super Duty, F-150, Ranger, Maverick and the CE1 pickup covering the market already? Why have a cheap ICE vehicle stealing sales from your cheap EV that is supposed to make people buy EVs? I think its just a place holder and its more likely that its going to be some sort of SUV/CUV built there instead.... The Expedition and Navigator come from a "truck" plant 😛 With all the changes, the one thing that also popped into my head with all this going on-what is going to happen with the Mach E and Cuautitlán Assembly? I can see the Mach E migrating to the CE1 platform by the end of the decade and why build it in Mexico (which was primarily for EU sales) when it is gonna be hit with Tariffs when they can make a variant of it at Louisville. EU production could be picked up in market, if there is a demand for it? -

“affordable, gas-powered” trucks in 2029, Ford said. A spokesperson said the rechristened Tennessee Truck Plant will produce “a model we don’t have today.” Ford said the assembly site in Tennessee will employ about 2,300 workers when it comes online in 2029. Sounds like the product that will be a sister to the Bronco Sport or an Edge/Escape replacement -

https://insideevs.com/news/781889/ford-f-150-lightning-erev/ Ford officials said today that production of the current Lightning would come to a close, and a planned next-generation full-size truck—known internally as the Ford T3—would be canceled. In its stead, the next Lightning will be an extended-range electric vehicle, or EREV, with a gas engine that charges the battery. With that addition, Ford expects the next Lightning to offer more than 700 miles of total range. -

F-150 Lighting EV dead, Lighting EREV to replace it. Going by that article above it looks like the T3 is dead too. Wonder what is going on at BOC for the future?! -
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a69713756/ford-ranger-phev-super-duty-not-coming-to-america/ I'm also assuming that it won't step on the toes of the upcoming CE1 pickup either. I also had another thought-I wonder if Ford is going to a Bronco inspired CE1 CUV/SUV that would fall in the 170-180 length range that would slot it between the Bronco Sport and Bronco.

It never crossed your mind that a Venezuelan government that is friendly to China or Russia would be more then willing to let them station Cruise Missiles or long range drones to shut down the Panama Canal in the event of a invasion of Taiwan? Not to mention the US is the freaking top oil producer in the world https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_oil_extraction Get over your stupid dog whistles
