I bet the Diesel issue is just due to the current problems with navistar...I doubt they'll get rid of a diesel option for the E-150

Your misreading what I mean...there is room for a low production TT engine in the Mustang lineup, even if it only sells 20K more cars a year. In no shape or form should it replace a V8 in either a GT or Hi performance car like the Cobras or Shelbys

How hasn't it pushed the envelope? More powerful engine far stiffer unibody better ergonomics 05+ redesign made the car very livable for every day use As for styling. Besides the Fox body...every Mustang From 65, has had some sort of styling cues from it..even the 74 Mustang. Not till the 1990's did Ford start putting back on the ponies on the Mustang as an identifier for it. They've always had some sort of retro design detail or Mustang DNA if you want call it that, besides the earlier Fox Mustang

Depends on the type of wear...you'll wear out brakes and tires faster, but since Taxis don't turn off their engines as much as a regular car does..they have less wear and tare on the engine, since most of that happens when the engine doesnt have enough oil to lubricate it.

The point is that the engine is already in production and offering can help bring in people who otherwise wouldn't look at a Mustang. Its not like its just going to be for the Mustang! More options are always good, esp with something like this. If it doesn't sell...then kill it off..its not like its going to cost big money to put it into the car. Plus there is a lot of room for potential there.

I don't think adding a IRS and a Twin Turbo V6 in addition to a V8 Model is going to seriously damage the Mustangs Reputation...its more or less the same situation as the SVO and GT back in 1985 or so...but keep the pricing on the V6 TT more reasonable...not 5K more a car

Doubtful since Health-care costs are killing nearly every single company that provides it...keep in mind that some places have anywhere from a 5-10% raise in health care costs every year...and you don't even put a cent into yours (last time I checked) I doubt Ford is getting a break anywhere... Don't work for the auto industry, saw what the deal was with it when I did have the opportunity too...

Ever consider that a perk like that is a tax write off? Theres alot more there that doesn't readily meet the eye (much like your saying). Not to mention if you don't offer a good compensation package, your not going to get quality people out there. I'm sorry but its harder to replace an executive then it is to replace your run of the mill factory worker..

Ford has been trying to get a B car since 2004. The Ecosport was supposed to be released here, but Mark Fields shitcanned it thankfully. There are rumors that the Reflex and Bronco will also be based on the B car platform, but haven't seen anything written in stone about it

Care to elaborate or did you pull that out of your ass? The rumors are saying that the 09 will have all new sheetmetal from the green house down and a updated interior. Thats part of the reason why it was pushed back..because the original redo didn't have enough done to it to pass Mark Field's goals.

But thats the problem, Ford wants to expand the appeal of the Mustang to more people. I would love to see the 3.5L TT engine in the Mustang myself, but not at the expense of a V8 option. They can market both cars, with the TT being with in 2-3K of the V8 GT. The TT model could be called a Sprint or something and have somewhat limited production (30K units or so) Many of your younger buyers like higher tech engines and it would help with the Mustang's Image of being a redneck car... As for the SVO vs the Terminator...I bet you ask your avg Mustang Fan and they won't have a clue what the hell the Terminator is. The SVO they will, and I bet the SVO will be one of the more collectible Mustangs from the 80's To sum it up...I see no issues with the 3.5L TT engine being offered as an option in the Mustang, but no shape or form should it replace a V8 Model.

All have to say, is who thought of doing the Twin Force Engine? I personally think its the most exciting new engine coming from Ford in the next couple years. If they can get 20 MPG in a F-150 with it and then have it power the Mustang with 450 HP and use it in other applications....its makes me go wow why didnt I think of it :P

I got mine A plan so I didn't have to worry about the pricing...but I do have to agree with you 46K on a Mustang is just plain stupid! I think thats the biggest problem with Ford dealers..is that they have some crappy products that they have to sell and then when they get something in demand, they want to rape the customers coming in for it.

Thats funny, since my family had 5 of them and only the 82 Wagon was POS. We had an 86 GT last till 1998 with over 200K on and 2 major accidents and a 92 LX that went 120K with just an IAT needed to be replaced on it.

I'll add in my comments here: I had a 98 Mustang GT, an 02 SVT Focus, and now a 06 Mustang GT as background... As for it being Heavy, its within a 100-150 lbs of the 350Z and G35 I don't get how you can compare the RX-8 to a base model V6 Mustang, when the V6 stang starts at 20K and the RX8 starts at nearly 6-8K more Talking about interiors...my friend had a G35 coupe and the seats where great on with really nice leather, but a big WTF on the dash...why did they PAINT the center stack silver? I though that cheap looking and kind of nasty to be found on a car like that. Yet again the pricing thing again...a Loaded GT is about 30K (starts at 25-26K IIRC) a G35 Starts at 34K and if you load it up, goes to nearly 40K for many of the same options you can get on that loaded GT...thats a huge difference in price. As for the interior...I'll agree with the Materials thing for the most part, but I do like the overall design of it, but it would have been nicer to have higher quaitly plastics in it...I find the drivers seat to fit me with no problems and I'm 6'2

I don't get what your saying here...you want the Mondeo...but if you read in-between the lines of that article, you'll see that the Mondeo and Fusion will be more or less the same car come 2012, when both are due serious updates and then they can be combined. Its like the Fiesta coming over..they are waiting till the new model comes out before instead over a platform that is a couple years into its life cycle. l

Well thats the thing, the Mustang and F-series are there own little brands within Ford (and it shows since they are the only two that haven't been seriously screwed up in the past 20 yrs)..I would like to see a Lincoln based on the Mustang, but with AAI building as many Mustangs as it can and with the new 6 coming online next year, I don't see how they can fit in there, unless the remove the Mustang and build it along with the MKR and Interceptor some place else. A luxury buyer would never look at a Mustang in the first place, but I'm sure that pently of older Mustang owners and future owners would pay good money to have some extra tech in the car that might only be found on a Luxury car. Plus who knows whats going on with Mercury...the D3 mercury is gone in 2010 and the MetaOne never made it off test prototypes. I haven't seen or heard anything new in the pipe for them either...not a good sign

Ford still has a stake in Aston, so its possible that it will reaquire them in the future...BTW I haven't seen a press release saying who did buy them.. As for the Monedo thing...I wouldn't expect that to happen till 2012...then it would be alot easier to combine them then since the Fusion's refresh will be 3 years old and the platform will be about 6-7 years old. The Mondeo will be ready for a refresh then, so it would be the best bet for it to happen
