  1. It boils down to that VW product from the EU isn't as appealing as people would make you think it would be. The market for compact hatchbacks isn't there anymore and their CUV offerings seem to be also rans in the NA market vs everyone else. VW has had some creative advertising over the years but i can't recall seeing anything worthwhile in like 10-15 years either.
  2. The Ford blue oval? I was thinking to myself that it would suck if they somehow accidently shipped it upside down or something like that when they installed it LOL
  3. I'm venturing a guess that it works in conjunction with the backup camera also and the image merged together.
  4. I just saw a headline on Autonews that Audi was looking at the Scout platform to make a Range Rover Fighter
  5. Need more product? Nissian isn't in the best shape financially either Though interesting thing I just discovered-the Outlander and Rouge share the same platform.

  7. IIRC in the Santa Fe it didn't actually have a mirrored surface when it was turned off....but I could be wrong. The view was identical to a standard rearview mirror and to be honest the additional camera views the Santa Fe had while driving it made the dash entirely too busy and distracting to me IMO. It would be great for parking or other slow speed things (like in my garage), but for everyday use, its information overload.
  8. My Bronco wipes the rear window if I backup and have my wipers on I can see a sprayer above the camera instead 😛
  9. https://www.autoblog.com/news/first-toyota-land-cruiser-fj-buyers-will-have-a-hard-time Going by the FJ article and the Land Cruiser comment, it almost seems like its being done intentionally. I get the longer life cycles, but at the same time, what is the point if i'm leasing a product and when I'm done with my lease, why am I going to lease the same exact car again? If someone is buying it outright, it makes more sense, I know I can go with my current commute 10 years before I really need to worry about a new car. People who buy hang on to cars for longer periods of time, but I have no idea what the breakdown is leasing vs buying Toyotas and it seems like the big push is towards "you'll own nothing" with everything, so keeping product fresh is going to be even more critical to keep your customers around.
  10. Good question, I do wonder about how it would fit into the NA lineup-its longer/wilder then the BOF Bronco in North America. It would butt into the Explorer sales space, which I'm not sure if Ford would want to do that. Ford still has a gaping opening below the Bronco and Bronco Sport that would be better off filled maybe by something more car like that would be a legitimate Edge replacement. IMO it would be better just to make the Bronco and Sport a P/HEV short term then move to an EREV setup by the end of the decade.
  11. IIRC on the Corolla Cross I saw today, it looked like the camera was set up much higher then other backup cameras I've seen-like in the spoiler above the rear hatch glass.
  12. I first saw this in a loaded Santa Fe a few summer ago, I wasn't impressed with it-it seemed to suffer from "input lag" i.e. the images it was displaying where ever so slower then what you would see with a standard rearview mirror. Anyways I noticed a Toyota Corolla Cross in front of me had one-a product that is much lower down on the product lineup...which had me wondering, outside of a being able to display some additional information, often that isn't really necessary, what is the actual point of having these style mirrors? It seems pointless to replace something that costs maybe 10-20 bucks with something that costs 10X as much, especially in lower end product where pricing is a bit more sensitive. Do any Ford or Lincoln products offer anything like this? I haven't noticed.
  13. Thanks but my old man is retired from Ford, so I'm covered 😛
  14. So a few weeks ago I got my Bronco serviced and my wife was telling me that you can get a $20 rebate from Ford after having it done. I went to fill out the info online and it got rejected by Ford, who asked for a receipt of the service. So I winded up taking the receipt into work, scanning it with my phone into a PDF and forwarded it over to them via email I get an email back from them-I accidently sent them my resume instead of the receipt! I wasn't paying attention the small thumbnail that Adobe scan (nor did I put a descriptive name to it) so I sent the wrong file at first. I got the the rebate about a week and half ago after getting the right file to them. So I'm checking my email just now and see I got an email from Ford-asking me to update my resume! WTF! I never applied for a job with them LOL I'm wondering if my resume got processed somehow and that is how I got this email
  15. Yes, but the Big 3 was closing that gap by the mid to late 1980s-that was on them, its harder to compete with companies that have other inherent advantages that aren't as easily to compete against with
  16. https://cnevpost.com/2025/11/13/ford-to-start-pre-sales-electric-bronco-china-nov-18/ More details in the article about it also
  17. Yes, you are wrong-in the early 1980s the Japanese had an advantage in manufacturing costs and the strength of the yen. They could sell more affordable vehicles and make more profit on them due to the weakness of the Yen at the time.
  18. I'll spell it out clearly for you, Spring 2027 is the first go date for China to take Taiwan That is why your seeing all this happening now.
  19. And you'd lose a huge part of manufacturing in the USA which wouldn't bode well for the country, but hey you want to buy some EV from China, so its all good...fuck everyone else.
  20. My buddy has one and has three different open recalls on it-I have two on my Bronco, but at least I don't have to worry about it catching on fire lol
