  1. I wonder how hard it would be just to use the Nautilus greenhouse with some minor mods with the Edge front and rear end clips
  2. The other thing to consider is this- With Ford bringing the Bronco back and I'm guessing it being cheaper to build, while being more profitable then an Edge, that is why they went that route they did with the Edge. Also I'm guessing that CAFE was at play too-look at what GM is doing with the Blazer which roughly the same size as the Edge-the ICE version is going away and replaced by the Blazer EV going forward due to a lack of a hybrid powertrain for GM and I'm also willing to guess that the Blazer EV is going to be pretty cheap to build in the next few years with pricing coming down on how much it costs to make battery cells. But yet the larger Traverse is staying ICE because it has a larger CAFE footprint (and more profitable I'm guessing too)
  3. They also lost a shit ton of money apparently on everyone sold...saw something like 300K per car? But then again that is like the crazy numbers being thrown out on the Mach E and Lighting that include other costs.

  5. He is reading way into things-from the post I saw it was in Michigan, not sure what part though, but assuming it was near Dearborn. I’m also guessing people might be using a winter beater if they have one too.
  6. Done underestimate people’s desires to overbuy when it comes to a vehicle. I have buddy of mine with an older F-150 and he does rentals and fixes them up-he also has two kids between 7-13. He was complaining about the costs of maintenance at the dealership of that F-150 and costs of a new or even used one-I mentioned to him that maybe a Maverick might be a good choice instead?

  8. Saw this and others on Facebook-kinda interesting that it has zero camo on it.
  9. https://insideevs.com/news/751663/ramcharger-ev-and-ice-mpg/ 20 MPG doesn’t sound all that impressive
  10. Dealers can’t cut costs because the margins on the vehicles are so low. Any incentives etc are from the manufacturers and dealerships make their money on services and used cars.
  11. Don’t confuse being stupid for being passionate 😂 Im sure most of the owners where first time car buyers thinking they had the best thing ever
  12. Looks like Ram losing sales was bad inventory (guessing too many high end models) and production issues https://www.ttnews.com/articles/stellantis-ram-sales-rebound#:~:text=researcher Cox Automotive.-,Ram's sales have been stymied by production snarls and excess,Ram 1500 trucks next year.
  13. There are military vehicles that use brakes to skid steer with, I wonder if you could apply that to cars.
  14. How much is this buyer expectations and market forces? I’ll use the Escape as an example-my wife’s old 2017 SE had better standard equipment then a 2013 Titanium model did. The biggest difference was in wheel sizes with the Ti having 19in wheels with much more expensive tires due to being an odd ball size (my 20 inch high performance tires where cheaper then the standard 19in tires on it). Otherwise the SE model had more equipment in it for 5k less. Ford struggled with making the last gen Escape profitable and there was a lot of warranted/unwarranted attacks on the 2020 Escape being cheaper in materials etc then the previous gen. The Bronco Sport comes along and the interior has been praised by the automotive press but I don’t find it to be any where being a leap over what the Escape has (using a 2020 as an example) outside of maybe being a bit more cohesive in design choices. anyways let me make my point-the entry level models the Ford offers have far better standard equipment then say cars did 15 years ago. You still get a decent sized screen in it for example and most comfort items (heated seats/auto HVAC/push button start) are standard. Remote start might not be, but the Ford pass app does that instead. The issue is maybe buyers need to have better expectations for when they buy car vs automatically assuming certain options come with a car at a certain price point.
  15. This isn't about you though There are plenty of other people out there that might be tempted if they are more affordable and things like in home charging comes with the vehicles, like Ford is offering. I was in VA over the weekend and even the smaller Wawas (convenience store/gas station chain on the east coast) off I95 where getting ready to get Tesla superchargers installed at them. I'm not sure what VA penetration is with EVs, but i'm guessing its making economic sense for them to be installed at them. If people weren't buying EVs, they wouldn't be spending the money to get those charging stations installed.
  16. I can see Ford not competing in the passenger car market in the EU, but I think I'll stay as Ford Pro to sell vans and trucks.
  17. Because quit thinking this is a North American only issue. Unless Ford decides it doesn’t want to sell cars in the EU or China or other places around the world, they are going to have to face Chinese competition in some form.
  18. Ford stock is worth next to nothing because the Ford family owns a controlling interest. There is no way their stock goes as high as GM or Toyota because of that. Your real estate example is completely flawed. I live in an area that has limited ability to expand because vast majority of areas that can be developed are. I bought a house that was built in 1990s about eight years ago that has basically doubled in price since then. Any new construction in my area starts at 750k and I’ve seen some at 900k. You have to cover the costs of the lot, which I’m assuming is around 200k, if not more, then the costs of materials labor etc of building houses. Those same thing apply to building vehicles-materials, labor and development all factor into cost increases. If there was so much profit built into making these vehicles, why isn’t other manufacturers who might have a better pricing structure exploiting that to sell their vehicles for cheaper to build market share?
  19. My Sister killed off a few Ford products in her day: Probe, Cougar and something else I think. I killed the Taurus off, but that didn't happen till 5 years after I got mine.
  20. Average transaction price for a new vehicle is $49,740 as of January of this year. There is zero chance that you'll get a Mustang for $14K like you could back in 1993-which was 33 years ago Affordable is a nebulous term-where I live, "affordable housing" is nearly 250K (which there is none) and the average transaction price of a house in my area is $500 to 750K The used car market is tight because manufactures aren't flooding the market like used to back in the 1990s with fleet specials, so a average used car is now $27K, so how are manufactures actually going to make $$ on selling new cars that cost almost the same as a used car? What it ultimately boils down to is people have sticker shock when they buy something new after not having a new car for 5-7-12 years or whatever the average is these days. Hopefully your income has kept pace with the costs of everything. Unless the market see a major contraction, prices aren't going to come down that much, because they want to make a profit.
  21. Ford also built a huge number of Pratt and Whitney engines during the war.... I had a link to a website that had what different auto manufactures built during the war but I can't find it in my bookmarks
  22. I think its a multitude of things...I think Ford's new EV programs are offering them a way out of doing business like they've have been doing Ford CEO Jim Farley Says Company Hasn’t Been Cost Competitive Since 2009 Also I'm wondering if the automotive press is conflating information for the T3 and CE1. Given Ford's comments about larger vehicles not being a good candidate with current EV tech, why would it make any sense to have two different products that would compete against one another for buyers...figuring the T3 would be roughly the size of an F-150 and the CE1 pickup a slightly larger Maverick or slightly smaller Ranger. I think that Ford's plans (as we know them now) are going to change and BOC will be the EV only plant and Louisville will get P/E/HEV C2 based products that will take that plant till the middle of next decade at least.
  23. Saw this on Facebook and figured it was worth a share-it was going over Fords involvement with building the T-48 aka M48 Patton tank starting in 1952. The M48 was also built by Chrysler defense in Delaware, which built the Duragano up until 2010 I think. I used to live about 30 minutes from that plant.
