I'm assuming you're talking about John McElroy, the auto analyst. I've got a Newspaper Headline to show you how much the auto analysts Know. Honestly I think everyone in southeast MI would like to see the Wixom plant stay open, but what COULD be done with the plant and what WILL be done with the plant are not determined by the analysts.....only the Board.

Article on jobs not requiring a 4 year degree
mrballsonya replied to captamrica's topic in Ford Employee Forum
Hey, I didn't see Ford skilled tradesman $150,000 a year on that list. :D I guess it must be a pretty current job survey, They must already know that those days are over. -
HOLY SHIT! WHO THE HELL IS RUNNING THINGS DOWN AT THE GLASS HOUSE. I understand now, why i'll be losing my job next year. WTF! This crap is becoming border line comical, I'd really be lauging my ass off if I didn't own so much Ford stock. I'm really just speechless........ What the hell. Here Ya' Go Escalade....please take what ever dignity I used to have and spit it out of your exhaust. The interior looks like a 1980 chrysler and the exterior looks like a 7 year old kid designed it. I really feel bad for the workers at Michigan Truck, get ready for a lot of downtime. WOW! just when I thought it couldn't get much worse.

 What? They're going to supply coveralls, but then not clean them? It probably makes alot of since to some accountant up in the glass house whos never been dirty before. I've got an Idea, If this really is true you guys need to start dropping your nasty greasy, oily coveralls right on the front steps of HQ. That is total bullshit, I've worn some coveralls that were so nasty they probably should've been burned rather than washed, and there's absolutely no way I would've put them in my nice smelling car and taken them home to subject my kids to that nasty shit. Trades have way too many other things to worry about, (Sterling Heights R.I.P.) they shouldn't have to worry about taking some toxic laden coveralls home to wash them. This cost saving shit is getting out of hand.

Money makes the world go round. A similar situation happened up here in Flint, Wal Mart wanted to set up shop at a former GM plant site. Im not sure how it ended up, but I know the UAW local was going nuts.

One only has to look east across the street from the Wixom Plant right off I-96, to support Footballs notion that the land value might not be all it's made up to be. There lies a fairly large light industrial/business park, thats been around for at least 3 years with probably less than half the space leased out. Wixom seems to have alot of Industrial based supplier companys and with the continuing decline of Manufacturing in the U.S. and especially in Michigan, I think there's going to be plenty of available property in Wixom in the next couple of years. Maybe this NEW service job economy is working in the rest of the US, but its going to take Michigan a little while to make the transition from Manufacturing to Wal-Mart, And along the way theres going to be alot of people losing there houses, cars, cottages, boats Etc. EVERYONE in Michigan is going to suffer from these job loses, anyone who thinks differently is on crack. The Wixom city manager needs to get a swift kick in the ass to wake him up out of his temporary insanity.

I'm surprised there's any Ford loyalty left down there in sandusky. What are you guys now Visteon, Automotive Holdings, Ching Chang Automotive? If Ford was currently making Vehicles that were desireable to everyone, including employees we wouldn't have just had our 2nd Major restructuring in 5 years. Ford HAS TO MAKE VEHICLES THAT THE REST OF THE U.S. WANTS TO BUY! I know there's only 299,900,000 NON-FORD Employess in the US, so it'll be tough to find 4,000,000 to buy our cars. Non of our Jobs will be safe until Everybody else wants to buy a Ford. The 100,000 employees in the U.S. will make virtually NO difference in the big scheme of things.

How Many Job Cuts Are Planned At UAW International?
mrballsonya replied to mrballsonya's topic in Ford Employee Forum
:D .....Hey Ya think they have any millwright Jobs down there at the International? I Know I'll be looking for one in a year or so. -
With the significant future loses of UAW membership at Delphi, GM, and now Ford. How many Union Jobs will be lost at International? Its obvious when you have 80,000 less members you don't need as much representation. It would be criminal to force the remaining membership to pay for un-needed UAW Reps. Any one know the numbers or if this has been discussed before?

Cedar Point is now officially looking into this whole Wixom saga for their next ULTRA ROLLER COASTER. The WIXOM THRILL RIDE, 4 years of Ups and downs (Mostly Downs) and now it sounds like the 23rd still won't give us any true answers. This is Unbearable.... How can they do this to People.
-
Hey Butthead, have you heard what the start time is yet? Is it going to be 9:00 like the article stated?
-
In the Detroit news analyst article from yesterday, an employee from Wixom was stated as saying 9:00 A.M. for the announcement. Not really sure why it would be an hour earlier than most of the other plants??? Could be bad. Can anyone else verify that this time is correct for Wixom?

Heres a link to the DETNEWS article..... http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...UTO01/601180385

Under the current contract, 10 years of seniority gets you covered under the GIS program.....Guaranteed Income Stream. I'm not exactly sure what the details of the GIS are but its similar to the GEN program, they both offer some sort of benefit in the event of lay offs.

Thanks Brotha' I'll have to pick one up tomorrow. Hey are you posting from jolly old England or what :D. Whats up with the time settings on these posts? I'm showing a 5 hour difference from EST.
-
Hey Football, How did they word it? You don't think they're referencing that stale old WSJ report from a month ago do you?
-
I know everyone is worried, and that there's only a couple plants that Ford will absolutely not shut. But given the 10,000 employee Minimum that Ford has to maintain in order to receive their multi-million dollar National subsidies, I'd say you STAP guys are pretty safe. Maybe I'm wrong but after the casting plant closure, wouldn't Ford be well under 10,000 Canadian employees if they shut STAP? I just can't imagine Ford giving up what is essentially free money.

I like it better than the Mustang, I like the sharper lines of the body. Who knows what the production version will look like though. I really liked the Zephyr concept, but i'm not a big fan of the production version.
-
Wixom was down last week and will be down next week also, Production will resume on the 23rd. I Haven't heard anything as of yet. Maybe they'll announce something this week. I hope we don't have a "announcement" break, the last one we had Announced the cut of one shift. As far as the TC CV GM stuff, we've heard rumors for years that the Town Car was moving up there or that we were getting the CV GM. At this point we'd be happy to get anything that would keep us open, But at the same time unless these cars get some redevelopment/redesign even with all 3 cars running down the same line It'll only be a matter of time before the down weeks start. The panther platform has been virtually abandoned and I can't imagine anyone but taxi services, limo services and police departments buying these cars. Good luck to you guys, I think everybody will be crossing there fingers on the 23rd.
-
I like the styling better than the mustangs. I think they did a pretty good job with this retro re-do. You still can tell it's based on the original yet I think it's a much edgier design than the Mustangs. Give it the chevy pushrod v8 muscle and the base model a strong V6 and I think GM could sell at least 125,000 a year.
-
What 5 to 9 vehicles will we be producing? And with our falling marketshare who'll be buying these 5 to 9 vehicles? I always enjoy hearing good rumors, especially considering all the bad ones we've heard the last couple of years. But honestly 5 to 9 vehicles just doesn't make any since given Fords current market share. Thanks for the entertainment though..... And By the way I hope your right..... :D

The UAW still receives monthly dues from GEN Bankers, I don't think they'll give that money up until next contract. I don't think there's any question that the GEN program will be gone after 2007, but I really don't think they'll touch it until then.
-
I guess I wouldn't be suprised, but it seems like it would be very disruptive (a lot of people at new plants that would have to be re-trained).

First look: The D3 Lincoln
mrballsonya replied to Blue Oval Guide's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Pretty nice, give it some power, keep it close to the concept and I think we have an honest luxury car contender. It's nice to know that Ford still has some decent designers.
