  1. Any of the original 99 Cobra owners still out there? I saw a green 99 on the Hiway the other day. I could not catch up to him in the traffic. Car still looked good, original down to the exhaust and rims. I still have mine, sporting a few add ons, ie KB, alum ds, flywheel, 3,73 gears, chrome wheels, tri ax shifter, JBA shorties, Magflow cat & hi flow H /w cats, corbeau seats. I clay barred the whole car, did a scratch remover application, sealer and coat of wax, all by hand. I won best paint at a local high school show. I has also added to the stable a 2013 Shelby GT500. I have less than 3000 miles and have added a bolt on kit for about a 100 hp bump. I was just pricing some 3.73s, probably buy from Summit, don't know why I bother shopping. Getting back in the 99 Cobra is like driving a 66 model, all basic, nothing but fun!! I just barely remember to shut off the trac control. I cannot remember all the stuff that went on with the 99, but it sure is fun to hit replay every once in a while.
  2. If any of you guys are still kicking. I am fortunate enough to add a 2013 Shelby GT500 to the stable. I had to do some parking shuffling, but managed to park all the good stuff indoors. I bought the mineral gray with black stripes, power package, recaros and a car cover. Cannot wait to get this thing broken in and change out those 3.31 gears.

  4. Since you're the only one complaining about them I'd say it's you more than the seats. Probably has a lot to do with it, but maybe that is why I can appreciate a GOOD automobile seat.
  5. You are absolutely right. The MKX seats are like sitting on a carpeted floor. Short drives are not bad, but after 50 miles, it becomes a pain. My guess is Ford won't spend the money to put in smaller seat controls, leaving no room for cushioning. My wife bought me a cushion, but it defeats the use of the seat heat and a/c. I think a lot of the discomfort also comes from the shape. The Honda Fit and the Dodge suv have good seats without a lot of cushion. Ford needs to re assign their seat person. The last 3 Fords we have owned did not have good seats, 93 F 150, no back adjustment on the bench seat, cushion was like sitting on a balloon the first 3 or 4 years, 99 Cobra, seats worse than the V6 base mustang, ??, again the seat cushion was like sitting on a balloon. K mart had better seats on their lawn mowers. I bought a set of Corbeau's, giving up the power seat and never regretted it. 03 Escape seats an improvement, but nothing to get excited about. No side support and the cushion is thin. I could not change the seats out, due to loosing the side airbags. 88 Bronco II, I could ride in this vehicle for days. Seats had power lumbar and no power. Side support was good for Ford, cushion was good, back adjustments good. Is Ford backing up on their seat comfort? I bought the MKX to travel in, but the seats sure hurt the comfort. Ford are you listening. I may have a few more car purchases left in me.
  6. Have you changed oil yet? That is low mileage! I think I can see the side flares. What else does the Roush kit have? Have you done any mechanical mod?
  7. Bought my first upper end auto, 2010 MKX. So far, less than 500 miles, I have found 2 disappointments with the vehicle. Sure, if I had done more homework, I would have known these things before I purchased. First, my 20" chrome wheels are alum wheels with glued on plastic hubcaps. Second the seats are typical for the last 4 Fords I have purchased, terrible seats. The MKX has very little cushion in the seat bottom. I found this out after a 200 mile trip. On a positive note, I really like the ride. Do not like the exhaust sound, should be quiet or sound like a car. It does have some engine noise. Love the options and still learning to use them.
  8. Sorry I did not make the Springville cruise. I went to the Mustang event at Barber's and ran out of steam. Even with the trolleys I must have walked miles and still did not see everything. Had to turn down some AFR heads, because I was too exhausted to carry them. I'll try and make the cruises, I want to see your Shelby. Joe
  9. Bill, Congrats on your future retirement. There is nothing like it. Glad to hear about the Shelby. I am sure we will see each other as the weather warms, now that we are both retired. I am sure you are prepared for retirement. I am sitting here watching my retirement fund dwindle. I will start getting my railroad retirement in Aug and things will be better. I have not turned a wrench on anything, it seems like forever. My youngest has an engine, 302 crate motor, with an internal vacuum leak. I need to remedy that and I might start back on a 64 Falcon. Anyway you know how it goes. Good luck on everthing and looking forward to seeing you in the Shelby.
  10. Hey guys, just got on a local board hunting some non ethanol gasoline for the 99. If the economy would rebound, I would consider myself in the market for a low mileage 03 or 04. I guess, fat chance of that happening anytime soon. I am a legitimate old timer. I am now retired. The 99 sits in the garage, hooked up to an off brand battery tender, waiting on a warm day to get out. Anyone in the rod run from the west to B'ham? I may try to view it as it comes through, but it's too many road chips and dings for the 99.
  11. Hey Blue Blood, did the Shelby come in? I am supposed to retire at the end of the month and hope it means I will have more car time. Maybe we'll see each other at some of the cruise ins. They have one in Fultondale at the Target parking lot now. We need a few more Fords.
  12. Congratulations Bill. Which dealer did you order through? I saw an 07 at Town and Country last year. I am trying to get my retirement lined up for July this year. I have done a little work on a 64 Falcon and am looking for a grill. If you still have the 99 extras and do not let them go with the car, I am still interested in them. When you get your new GT and the weather is decent, give me a call. Maybe we can take the wives out for a snack or something. see ya, joe
  13. Hey guys, I saw a green 99 Cobra, north bound on I-65 today. Did a double take and saw CadMan purring along. I gave him a couple of beeps on the horn, but he was locked in on the traffic. I made him change lanes, but still no response. I think he had 4.30 grears at one time, maybe he was watching the tach. I am still in my red 99, about to click over to 30,000, a good time to change oil. Railroad,
  14. Be sure to have the suspension loaded when the subs are installed. A drive on lift is what you need. good luck,
  15. I have heard the Z06 is not as available as you would think. I spoke with a GM employee and commented on how the Z06 was a great buy at 60,000. He said, I can't even get one. Maybe the supply has improved and I am sure the Shelby will go through the same quantity and cost changes.
