"Makin' Thunderbirds" The big line moved one mile an hour So loud it really hurt The big line moved so loud It really hurt Back in '55 We were makin' thunderbirds We filled conveyors We met production Foremen didn't waste words We met production Foremen didn't waste words We were young and proud We were makin' thunderbirds We were makin' thunderbirds We were makin' thunderbirds They were long and low and sleek and fast They were all you ever heard Back in '55 We were makin' thunderbirds Now the years have flown and the plants have changed And you're lucky if you work The big line moves but you're lucky if you work Back in '55 We were makin' thunderbirds We were makin' thunderbirds We were makin' thunderbirds They were long and low and sleek and fast They were classic in a word Back in '55 We were makin' thunderbirds We were young and proud We were makin' thunderbirds We were young and sure We were makin' thunderbirds
  2. My dad just turned 80. His last 3 cars were a 1988 Crown Vic, 1992 Town Car and his present 2002 Grand Marquis. The 3 befor those were '77. '79 and '81 Caprice Classics that were low mile hand me downs from my grandfather..
  3. It was a jeweler cutting a diamond. My Grandfather was a jeweler and a watchmaker. He thought the ad was funny.

  7. He preserved all that automotive history and now it can be enjoyed by new owners to keep the cars for future generations. It sounds like he had fun.
  8. I wonder how the jagoff from the Caddy commercial would have handled that? With much less grace and a couple of horns to the butt I believe.
  9. Amazing Half-Time Show from yesterday's Ohio State - Virginia Tech Game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhGB5Pd3ko8#t=379
  10. Then it got worse in '62. The loss of the ful-size Plymouth really hurt the dealers.
  11. When I was a kid, '61 Plymouths were still a fairly common sight.I always thought they were strange looking cars, especially compared to '61 Fords and chevys. Over the years they have grown on me. There are a couple of very nice ones that show up at our local car cruises. (unfortunately the pics I have are too big to upload)
  12. I'm surprised they left the new Lexus and Infiniti off the list. They both adopted the '61 Plymouth grille as their "new" design feature. That didn't even work on the '61 Plymouth.
  13. That reminds me of when I was a kid and my grandfather bought a '74 Dodge Dart. We were driving from Philly to Atlantic City and the "New car smell" was so overwhelming we had to put the windows down instead of using the A/C. Chrysler products of that era had a very distinctive and strong odor that took months to dissipate.
  14. I remember seeing stories of converted '64-'73 Mustangs imported to Australia. The newer cars are obviously far more complex, so a factory engineered oprion should sell cars in RHD countries
