I think am Edsel Citation was needed more...

That being said, that car was the answer that the market needed in the early 80's and if GM built that with even the slightest hint of quality, that car would have been their Camry and the Toyota would have never had a chance. Instead it is the butt of many jokes.

Can save $10 a unit,  I’ve never understood why Ford doesn’t just offer a cold weather package like they did on the 2020 Explorer. Heated seats front and back, the wiper deicer, (fully heated windshield, like they offer in Europe would be even better) heated wheel, and heated washer nozzles. I wonder if Canadian versions also loose the heated wiper park as well, all the Asian competitors offer them as standard. (Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Mazda, Subaru, Kia) Until existing Ford owners say I didn’t buy another Ford car because you eliminate the features I had from my previous one Ford will continue to decontent things. Ambient lighting in the f-150 was an example, people were pissed on the forums and added it back but it’s not like Ford added it back for 2021.

The overall decontenting for 2021 is bad. It shows they are going for Wall Street performance and would rather post higher profits.  The best product Ford will make is coming out over the next 12 months, after that they will be back to making cheap stuff and the surprise and delight features going away. Ford will have record profits over the next 2-3 years then it will be building cheap trash in 3 years with tons of quality issues as we need to delete things and beat suppliers up for lower prices and then will be getting reorganized in 5-6 years. Someone from the outside will be brought in to fix the company for 2-3 years, they will leave and an insider will be promoted with great product coming out and record profits at the end of those 2-3 years for about 12 months, the record profits and then the cycle repeats. That has been Fords business for the last 50 years, problem is each time they come back they have less market share and eventually it will be no more Ford. Honestly they have 2 maybe 3 of those cycles left before they just turn the lights off or stick the For Sale sign on Michigan Ave.

I ran the total death numbers myself and we will see over 250K more deaths in 2020 than in any of the previous 5 years.   That has nothing whatsoever to do with whether deaths are classified as Covid or not Covid - just total deaths from all causes.   It's essentially the worst flu season ever extended for 8 months now and counting.  And that's WITH all the precautions that have been taken banning large crowds, etc.   Without those measures it would probably be in millions already.   It's true that most deaths are older folks and folks with other health issues but that does not make it insignificant.   And it's causing continuing problems for younger people.   Lose the political rhetoric and just look at the facts.

Also, maybe it's time for that lion shield logo to reappear as maybe a fender badge. Expedition would be a good choice for this. Or maybe it could be a trim level badge.

Cybertruck from Tesla. Everyone is chiming in about how pricy it is and will it beat Ford to the market and so on, but this is to do battle with Tesla. The Silverado and any bev version of that will be priced in line with the F150.

The "luxury trims" of GMC outsell Cadillac, Audi or BMW and have higher transaction prices. There is possible space for this.

I hated it when I first saw it, but I warmed up to it. Of course the lower than expected price helped that opinion greatly! It doesn't seem like a Corvette to me now that it is a mid engine car. But seeing it as a sports car, it is a great deal.

If you get one, please don't put that body kit on it! That one in the picture needs to be killed with a nuclear bomb!

It may not fit the definition of a real truck, but for most people , a real truck is overkill and this is more truck than the average person will ever need. Most pickups hardest mission is to pick up a new table from Ikea.

True, but for most people, they are paying for overkill.
I am guilty of that. I bought a Mustang only to get stuck in traffic jams and rarely be able to go fast.

I liken it to being splashed by water when you throw rocks in a pond. So you get angry at the pond and throw a bigger rock to punish the water and get splashed even more.

People don’t understand that businesses don’t pay taxes.  Consumers pay business taxes.

But too many people just don’t like business owners making money and want to punish them and redistribute income.

Many great points in this discussion

    A few notes:

Without a few *major* course corrections that Hackett made, I honestly don't want to think about what we'd be discussing on this page today. The iceberg was within site yet the captain kept talking about his plans upon reaching New York. Bad, bad, bad. Worse than most will understand for a while.

The lack of a comprehensive portfolio strategy is why we saw Freestyle come out as it did, Explorer left to die, Expedition kept languishing, and Flex quickly abandoned. For the first time in my fandom of the Blue Oval, there is a legitimate, comprehensive *Portfolio* strategy in place that is helping better allocate investment, talent, and attention. They are NOT going to force entries into every segment. The segments they do enter, they're expect to commit to and own.

The Mustang, Bronco, and F-Series sub-brands are three areas we all should be particularly excited about. They are getting the attention of Crown Jewels... as they should.

I never got why most people dwell on where to charge their car when most won't take it on a long trip anyway. I can't think of anything more convenient that charging it at your home. Imagine how much easier if you could pump your gas in the driveway with your current car.

My point is that the Fusion which is being discontinued is in the scrap heap while the F-150 sells way more than anything and it will handily outsell the Bronco when it comes out. Internet chat does not equate to actual sales, otherwise Ferrari would probably be the most sold car on the planet.

Being a halo car however, the Bronco will have a large following even if most won't actually buy it. I think the Bronco sport, being a more accessible product will sell much better than you think and the internet indicates right now.
