Aye lads. I've heard the next Ranger will be the most wicked and foul tempered rodent you've ever laid eyes on! . :hide: It shall have a bi-turbocharged ten cylinder diesel with enough power :flexing: to pull hell right out of the ground. :devil2: Either a six speed manual or an eight speed twin clutch automatic gearbox shall reside beneath ye foot. It'll weigh over 438 stone, be seven feet tall, and shoot fireballs out of it's arse!

Who is going to buy a compact, 2 door, FWD SUV?

The 2 door Wrangler is useless as tits on a bull unless you offroad. Let's ask Toyota how many 2 door RAV4's they sold.

Seriously, people are unrealistic. Just because one person wants one doesn't mean anyone else will buy it.

Less capable? Sorry, but that is a subjective statement. Capability for you is not the same capability for me.

Based on my needs, the Ex is more capable than the Durango.

I'm not a monthly magazine, so I can't dump everything I have at once and then go without any new content for weeks and weeks. It's an unavoidable aspect of where I'm writing.

And if you want to see it all at once, you can always wait. If it were all going up the same day, it would probably be similarly delayed anyway.

I find the whole piece meal approach annoying. I can find 20 comparisons on these crossovers that are complete right now. Why do serialize the articles?

dude, you ROCK! I love your attitude! If every Ford worker (hourly and salary) had this attitude, Ford would be the #1 automaker in the world.

I have not seen a single Cruze on the roads. I have not even seen one being test driven (in my area there are specialized yellow plates for dealers)

Many on dealer lots, but that's it. IMO, it's just not attractive. It looks like a Malibu. Malibus look like rental cars. Why would I want to buy anything that looks like a downsized rental car?

You don't understand a thing about how heavy duty pickups are used in the US do you? Weight matters on a performance car NOT on a heavy duty pickup. You think that taking some of the metal out and lighting it up will make it a more durable truck? I can promise you those extra 800 pounds aren't because the plastic dash weighs more on the Ford. Those extra pounds are in the frame and the front suspension components. You take these trucks out and start working them hard on large cattle ranches, oil fields, construction sites, etc. and the extra strength matters. Ford's Super Duty is built for years and years of service in the harshest conditions. Nobody except you cares about weight in this class they care about durability.

The Chevy might have a few better performance figures because it is lighter and the Dodge might have a great engine in the Cummings, but I can promise you one thing... The last truck standing when it comes to the test of time will be the Super Duty. No one builds a tougher heavy duty pickup then Ford. When someone needs to haul cattle in a large trailer out to some rough rangeland in the middle of Wyoming I can tell you the last thing they are thinking is... "Wow I wish Ford would lighten this truck up."

Longtime BlueOvalNews reader here, but this is my first posting ever. Here goes:

I would think (and hope!!!) that the Super Duty engineers at Ford are taking a very close and critical look at the results from the recent www.pickuptrucks.com face off out west in Colorado between the Super Duty and the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD. You'll recall that the Silverado HD smacked down the Super Duty pretty thoroughly in that match-up, even though the Super duty had, on paper, the better specifications. These days, it is reassuring to know that Ford has finally gotten serious about year-to-year, continuous improvement across pretty much all of their vehicle lines (PDCA as we say in the world of quality engineering). Hopefully, they won't take that beating sitting down!

We currently have two Ford vehicles in our family: I drive a 2008 Lincoln MKX, and my wife has a brand new, gorgeous, Kona Blue (with a silver stripe) Mustang GT (couldn't pass this one up, with the end-of-the-model year rebate, coupled with a Ford retiree z-plan discount remaining from my father). Both of these are splendid, enjoyable vehicles, and we couldn't be happier with them!

This one test nothwithstanding, isn't it great to see many of the other auto manufacturers chasing Ford for a change?

Talk to you all again soon! Thanks!

J-150 reacted to bzcat in Spied! 2011 Global Ford Ranger T6 Regular Cab Pickup Truck
I'm sure Ford would love to sell this truck here but the chicken tax on imported trucks makes this very difficult. It's ironic too... because chicken tax was originally supposed to protect Ford's truck sales but it is now the biggest stumbling block for Ford's global truck production plan.

Ford can probably sell a decent amount of T6 Ranger if it can somehow import it from Thailand without the chicken tax; but it can't... so unless all the people who say they will buy a new Ranger is welling to pay more for a T6 than F-150, this is not going to happen. Ford also won't be able to sell enough T6 Ranger in US to warrant investment in a new factory and assembly line in North America.

I can point this out 100 times but the Ranger mafia simply would not accept reality. The Ranger mafia is starting to make the Panther mafia look like a rational bunch. :D

FINALLY! Yes, you can disagree and all that. I just asked for an explanation. It hasn't been given. I really don't think this vehicle was an offensive one and that's all I'm getting at. It did not infringe on Ford sales, did it? And I too have the right to question someone's opnion.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Dearborn a flex plant capable of making F150s, Rangers and Mustangs on the same line? If so, the Ranger could occupy 1 week of production out of every 4 or 5 weeks.
