  1. I am sad to see the end of the CMAX. I traded in my 2012 Focus for a CMAX Energi Titanium in July and absolutely love its performance, gas mileage and comfort. I would buy one again at next trade-in if I could.
  2. I just traded in my 2012 Focus Titanium w/manual transmission for a 2017 CMAX Energi Titanium. I was worried about the cargo space, but now that i have had it for a week and drove 2,000 km on vacation (camping trip), I absolutely love the CMAX. Headroom is much better, maybe part of it due to pano roof. But the higher seating position and more glass than the Focus makes it seem very spacious in the driver's seat. There is a load of legroom in the back seat; much more than the Focus. The rear seat floor area will also hold a lot of cargo if you don't have passengers back there. Gas consumption is significantly lower in the CMAX than in the Focus. I am averaging 46.1 mi/gal in the CMAX versus 32.67 mi/gal in the Focus. Acceleration is much better in the CMAX than the Focus. The CMAX is also much quieter to drive although the handling is not quite as crisp as the Focus, but it is not enough to bother me. Most times it is hard to tell if the gas engine is even running. I would highly recommend a CMAX Energi. Good luck!
  3. I used kijiji awhile ago to sell my car. Got lots of interest and sold the car quickly.... no cost for the ad either! Good luck!
  4. Not surprised it is THE best selling car in the world, just bought one myself... LOVE the MFT, wouldn't be without it....don't have a DCT, but the manual 5 speed. I put 6,000 km on the dial in four weeks since ownership. Its a blast to drive. Only wish it were an ST,,,,,,,
  5. I just bought a new 2012 Focus Titanium with a manual shift. I REALLY like driving it for a lot of reasons; the comfortable seats, great outward view, excellent handling, fantastic car stereo, NAV is great... I could go on. . I agree, a 6 speed shifter would have been better. Hope you enjoy your ST!
  6. Interesting point you make about cross-shopping. I am looking for a new car within the next year and while I had my mind set on the Mercedes C class coupe, I will definitely wait until I can compare it against the new MKZ. Although the MKZ is a sedan, the interior design has two features similar to the C class that I am looking for; an expansive glass roof and an uncrowded rear seat designed for two passenger comfort. A deciding point for me could be the engine options. The base C class will still likely have the app. 200 hp turbo four requiring premium gas, delivering a 0-60 in the 7+ second range. I would bet that the MKZ base engine will not require premium gas and will outperform the C class 0-60 time. Its gonna be fun testing the driving dynamics of each. Although I really like the design of the new Fusion, I don't think it's for me. I haven't made up my mind whether to keep my current daily driver, a Mustang convertible.
  7. Congrats. Love that red! May you have many miles of speeding-ticket-free driving!
  8. Congrats, the sterling grey looks great! That has gotta hurt, garaging it till spring.... Then again, fewer speeding tickets in the meantime perhaps?
  9. I got an x-plan pin as a shareholder in June and bought a Mustang convertible. In addition, I got the $1,000 COSTCO membership discount. I noticed yesterday that the COSTCO discount is still running here in Ontario. I also got a surprise rebate. In early September there was a cheque for $470 in my mailbox with a note from the dealer saying "The first payment's on us." That really made my day!
  10. It was the employee pricing sale of the last few weeks that got to me... I bought a new Mustang on x plan and $1,000 Costco cash a few weeks ago. Now the employee pricing started with an additional delivery allowance.... I can't bear to do the math, but I figure there was another $2k discount had I waited.... oh well, I really enjoy the car .... August ought to be another great month for Ford if they can get Fiestas delivered.
  11. Sorry... bad link... here is part of the text from Thomson Reuters * Ford sales up 2 pct at 27,203 vehicles * Ford car sales up 45.6 pct, trucks down 8.9 pct * Honda sales down 11 pct TORONTO, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co's <F.N> Canadian unit said on Wednesday that its sales were up 2 percent last month compared with a year ago for its best July in 31 years. The company said it was the best selling automaker in Canada in July, selling 27,203 vehicles, versus 26,788 the previous July. Car sales were up 45.6 percent, while truck sales fell 8.9 percent. General Motors Co [GM.UL] and Chrysler were restructuring last July and were basically shut down, tilting sales in favor of Ford, and making the comparable numbers tough to beat. "Ford was the only major manufacturer to post a gain last July," David Mondragon, president and chief executive of Ford of Canada, said in a release. "Last year Ford sales were up 47 per cent in July versus an industry decline of 7 per cent. Posting a gain after last year's increase is good, but given the comparisons, a 31-year July sales record is impressive." Honda Canada <7267.T> said its sales fell 11 percent in July to 11,615 vehicles. The company said sales at its Honda division were down 10 percent to 10,184, while its Acura division saw a 13 percent decline to 1,431.
  12. I hope Ford keeps making the manual shifters too. I just bought a V6 Mustang convertible and swore I was going to get a manual shifter. I made an appointment to test drive one at a dealer about 50 miles away only to find out when I got there they sold it that morning. It was the only one I could find around Toronto. I ended up test driving an automatic. Long story short..... I realized a convertible was all about easy driving with the roof down.... no puppet show to run with the clutching and shifting, gas and brake...and I have driven manual shifters all my very long life. The automatic is taking some getting used to, and I miss the direct cause and effect when punching the gas pedal, miss the downshifting to brake, but there will be a next car, and it will probably be a manual shift. Btw, I had 137,000 km. (85,600 miles) on my previous car and had no brake work done to that point. Long lasting brakes is another upside to manual shift. That said..... Danglin, nice car, love the race red! That's the colour I wanted but red candy metallic was in stock. I hope you are as thrilled with your Mustang as I am with mine!
  13. I wonder if the Canadian federal government has shorter miles to go with the bigger gallons... Seriously, they do seem overly generous but I can't explain them. So, I will do some calcs shortly to see how far off they are.
  14. Thanks for the insight OAC. Better acceleration on my convertible, you say????? Awesome!
