  1. IIHS seems to think differently http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/ford/mustang-2-door-coupe As for NCAP: "Ford has informed Euro NCAP that orders placed after May will receive an updated vehicle, which will be launched later in 2017, and will be equipped with Pre Collision Assist (with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking) and Lane Keeping Aid."
  2. Yes, Ford engineers spent the last couple of years innovating and developing a brand new vehicle that dominated LeMans. GM engineers spent the same two years trying find the optimum height to drop cinder blocks into a truck bed.
  3. Had race officials chosen to ignore their own penalty against Ferarri, Ford would have placed 1-2-3 instead of 1-3-4. "The race wasn’t without controversy: with under a half-hour to go, the No. 82 Ferrari was given a black-and-orange flag, a signal to pit for a penalty for having a faulty leader light. The Ferrari team chose not to pit, which could have resulted in a disqualification, but the race officials did not enforce it. If they had, the Ferrari would have fallen out of second place and Ford would have swept the podium."
  4. Ford was the overall GT winner, beating Fiat, I mean Ferrari. FORD WINS LE MANS! No. 68 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT of Sébastien Bourdais, Joey Hand and Dirk Müller takes victory in LM GTE Pro category Victory comes exactly 50 years on from Ford’s 1-2-3 victory at Le Mans in 1966 No. 69 Ford GT finishes on the podium in third place The Ford vs. Ferrari battle is rekindled at Le Mans LE MANS, France -- The No. 68 Ford GT of Sébastien Bourdais (FRA), Joey Hand (US) and Dirk Müller (GER) crossed the finish line at Le Mans at three o’clock on Sunday, as the overall GT winner of the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours. The No. 69 Ford GT of Ryan Briscoe (AUS), Scott Dixon (NZ) and Richard Westbrook (GB) joined the winners on the podium after scoring third place. The Nos. 66 and 67 Ford GTs finished in fourth and ninth places, respectively. “This is an historic moment for the Ford Motor Company,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “We dared to dream that we could return to Le Mans, 50 years after the incredible 1966 win, and take on the toughest competition in the world. The pride we all felt when the Ford GT crossed the line at Le Mans is indescribable. The team that designed, built and raced the Ford GT has worked tirelessly to bring us to this result and I am proud of each and every one of them. The Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team demonstrated the spirit of Ford, that of innovation, determination and true teamwork. We cherish our history and heritage, but today we made history again and I couldn't be more proud.” First unveiled to the media at Le Mans last year, the Ford GT’s Le Mans victory comes 395 days after the car turned a wheel for the first time on May 20, 2015, at Calabogie Motorsports Park in Canada. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia-mobile/fna/us/en/news/2016/06/19/ford-wins-le-mans.html

Ford completes its quest, wins Le Mans again 50 years later http://motorsports.nbcsports.com/2016/06/19/ford-completes-its-quest-wins-le-mans-again-50-years-later And the production GT made its debut with Raj behind the wheel. 2017 Ford GT in production guise surprises at Le Mans http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1104556_2017-ford-gt-in-production-guise-surprises-at-le-mans
  6. Good to see Ford beat GM to the TSP+ rankings. GM doesn't have any vehicles on the list at all. I'm sure the Edge will join the MKX on the list. The F-150, the only pickup to get the TSP award just needs the new software for the pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection to get the TSP+. I assume that will come with the 2017 refresh. GM seems to be going backward with their new platforms based on the results of the recent roof strength test of the all new Camaro. When is the last time a vehicle didn't receive a good score on the roof strength test? GM needs to rethink their lightweighting strategy if they're having difficulty achieving a good roof strength test result.
  7. It's good to see that every Ford tested by IIHS has received the highest ratings in the core tests - front, side, roof, and head restraints/seats. Also good to see that Ford is able to achieve the highest score on the small overlap test as new models are introduced designed to meet the newest test. I would be greatly concerned if Ford went backwards on a test result like the GM did with the roof strength test results for the brand new Camaro. I'm still bewildered on why GM engineers couldn't achieve a good result on a such a routine and basic test that hasn't changed in years and years.
  8. The Camaro's roof strength score is certainly puzzling. It appears that GM's light-weighting program failed in an area that should be fairly straightforward to achieve by now. The roof strength test is not a new test. Given the years and years of attention paid to rollovers it's surprising that GM engineers couldn't achieve a good score, especially on a brand new model. As for the importance of roof strength on these types of cars, per the IIHS report "Strong roofs are especially important for sports cars, which have among the highest driver death rates in single-vehicle rollovers (see "Saving lives: Improved vehicle designs bring down death rates," Jan. 29, 2015)."
  9. A knee jerk negative response will often lead to an uninformed and incorrect conclusion. "Most of that extra (105 day) inventory is of the larger Super Duty version of the F-Series that Ford is redesigning and re-introducing this fall. The automaker is very comfortable with where we are on F-150 supply, Hinrichs said." Why would Ford not build extra supply of the Super Duty when the plant is going to switch over to the aluminum 2017 in two months? I think even the most casual observer would agree that it's prudent to have extra supply going into a major plant switchover.
  10. I agree with that great automotive prognosticator BORG on this one, this is WAY too risky, no way Ford will EVER be able to deliver an aluminum F-150, let alone do it at a profit! Who are they kidding? On a different topic, how were the first quarter earnings today ?
  11. Who removed the word IMMEDIATE from the Automotive News title? It must not be an error because the word IMMEDIATE was removed twice, once in the title of the thread, and the other in posting of the article. Shouldn't the title of the thread be updated to correct the erroneous removal?

  16. Poor Cadillac. Someone should stick a fork in them. Surprised to see Subaru as a bottom feeder. Acura continues to suck.
  17. The supercab and regular cab also received 5 stars which makes the F150 the only full size pickup to get 5 stars in all crash test categories for all body styles.

  20. And some repairs may be lower due to the way the F150 was designed. "However, Consumer Reports’ own analysis shows that the aluminum parts on the F-150 cost about the same as steel parts on last year's truck, and because the new F-150 is designed to make replacing panels easier, in many cases labor charges may be lower"
  21. Regarding insurance rates: Per @StateFarm: "State Farm’s make and model rate for the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 is in line with that of the 2014 Ford F-150." Regarding cost of materials: The 2015 F150 box side replacement panel retail cost from Ford is exactly the same as the 2014 F150 box side replacement panel.

  23. I bet that Ecoboost didn't get the EPA mileage rating while doing that. Fail !
  24. Per Mike Levine, and per fordparts.com, the box side replacement parts for the 2015 is the same price as the 2014: Replacement no. for #2015F150 right boxside: FL3Z-9527840-A $967.48. 2014 F-150: AL3Z8427840B $967.48
