  1. Good question. On my side the tranny have been quite fine. I regulary have what I call miniflares...like 100-200 rpm revs between shift on light throttle. I do not find this disturbing at all. Last night I had two "rough" shift after a 20 min highway drive. nothing on the way back or this morning. It's my first car whith an auto tranny so I wonder if a wierd shift is OK once in a while. I'm close to 12k on the car. I must say that I appreaciate the 100 000km 5 years powertrain warrenty.
  2. Maybe this is the noise I'm also having, a small, short noise when accelerating from a stop at about 5 mph? seem to come from under the car...Does it most of the time, no matter if the road is snow or dry tarmac... but I seem to hear it more easely if the road is very slippery...but could not find anything similar on the net
  3. UPDATE: Went to the nearest dealer and did the test drive with the supervisor...of course, on that day, the noise was hardly heard and not apparent at all Rightly so, the advisor and I agreed that the issue was not obvious enouh to have a mechanic look a it right now, but that on my fist oil change I could check back with them and see where the issue is at... Yesterday I bought spray lubricant and went under the car to spray the driveshaft links and connections points ... after a test drive nothing changed at all... so no luck with that... I might go back under there and check for other spray places...or simply wait for my first oil change and have my original dealer look at it. I must say this little issue is getting on my nerve, as it is sporadic and very hard to pinpoint the exact condition that will make it happen at a well audible level. Otherwise I could not be happier with the truck, those newer escape are really exiting vehicules
  4. I always tought it was kinda normal behavior. My last car was all manual with power nothing and theescape is quite the opposite (has a lot of on board systems and such). BTW I dont recall have the vibration in city driving and such...only when merging past 45mph the first time. If a couple of us here have this same condition...then maybe its signs thats its supposed to be that way? I will ask the dealer when I go see them next week for my acceleration noise (see my other thread)
  5. I'm jeallous! looks good black on black. I'M happy i went with sterling gray tought. black gets dirty way to easely with the climate here.
  6. Hey guys! I first posted this as a reply in the 6f35 shift flare problem thread. I have decided to go to the dealer with this little issue i'm having with my car. Unless I accelerate from a stop super-ultra smoothly, I can always hear a quiet, rubbing-like noise in first gear at about 2000k rpm/5 mph...it seems to come from under the car. Whenever I am in snow, on dry roads, trac control on/off..the noise is there altough not always at the same sound level. I have a feeling something needs lube under there (4x4) maybe the drive shaft or something? my worst case scenario is that something is rubbing inside the tranny... next wednesday they will have a look at it and i'll report back here.! anybody have a similar sound? on a side note, by looking at the engine/trans I noticed something is written by hand on the tranny with a sharpie pen...weird! hope it dosent read "defective" from the factory hehe
  7. I have the same exact condition. 4cyl 4x4 here.
  8. I meant both for "slippage " and "stability" there is only one yellow light in the left part of the cluster. No lights when 4wd engages.
  9. Thanks for the info. The noise I'm hearing sometimes is really minimal, and probably related someway to the 4wd system, thats what I meant. No matter what, I'll probably have it cheked up on my first oil change. I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to cars that it's probably nothing...but I tend to listen to every little sound and usualy worry about nothing... hate being like that lol. As for the dash icon, mine showed both when accelerating on a iced parking lot (limited slip) or when taking a somewhat sharp turn in snow (stability control) ..the system is VERY effective. A click on the dash button will allow wheel spin, but I have not figured how to completely disable stability control.
  10. Finally the noise I am hearing is 100% traction control related, I think its the drive shaft engaging...very slippy here all roads are on snow and such. So no problems at all On a other note, my parents bought an 09 too, but v6 4wd. So far they have 0 issues on the tranny...no flare whatsoever. they are very , very happy with the truck! However , On 2 seperate occasion in about a month, they went to start the car and It would not crank at all!... both times after re-trying a bit the car started like nothing ever happened. Both times it happened with the same key, but that key still work fine most of the time. They cant seem to find a pattern to the "problem"..maybe its the key or maybe something else is faulty from the factory... The dealer was very eager to have a look at it at least... anyway... enjoy your trucks everyone!.. I sure do enjoy mine after snowstorm we have regulary here in quebec...snow + 4wd never gets old.
  11. Not flooring mine either, from a normal start I still get the noise. I'll have it checked BTW is yours 4x4?
  12. Anyone getting a short, regular drive train noise when accelerating quickly from a stop.? Like halfway in first gear... 4cyl 4x4. Its not the engine... probably trans or 4x4 system? Its not a grind but I can always hear somethign clear. it's not too loud and it's been doing that from day one. Hard to describe the sound, it's quite muffled. And the slower I start, the less I hear it. Maybe i'll get it checked on my first service.
  13. I like it that way...the auto trans I had before took everything to downshift and I found that to be annoying. NOw at least when I want to merge/take over The car downshift promptly and goes. Much easier to drive. the 6th is very low tho, and it hard to keep it when there is an incline. maybe the 4cyl isnt able to keep up
  14. guess its the exteme weather we have here then. I took it today and it worked flawlessly. this tranny is really smooth and i enjoy it verymuch. and anyway i'm backed with the 5 year warrenty if someting bad happens. love the car so far. thanks
  15. Looked in my manual (french canadian version) and could not find it in page 205, or anywhere else. But still I believe you when you say this is normal behavior. One other little thing that is bugging me about the tranny was the last couple of times I took the car, in very cold weather here (about -4 Fahrenheit ), I noticed a strange behavior on the 6th gear on the highway. Normally the engine runs a tad bellow 2k RPM when cruising at 60mph (4cyl). on a few occasion (and it was very cold) the engine was at more like 2100 rpm on the same speed. Not quite 5th gear, but not a fully "regular" 6th neither. Now when pushing on gaz i could not detect any sleepage and the rpm eventually got down to under 2k. is this a kind of warm up mode? I am puzzled with this because as far as my knowledge goes, there is no way to explain this higher rpm than normal behavior. still, when everything warmed up, everything worked smoothly!.. so it lasted like 5 mins. any inputs?
