Electric Vehicle Discussion Thread - Ford Related
Edgeoffroad04 replied to rperez817's topic in E.V. Central
Nothing against Memphis but having traveled thrre a handful of times I too wonder how they will get the labor for the massive facility. -
That's the crazy part...where does this all end? When and when China does open up global demand for oil will jump and I don't want to predict(and be right) where US gas prices end up.

Any reason you are hearing as to why the delay in getting the needed chips? We are going on what 12 to 18 months after coming back up out of shutdowns.

Ford Explorer Facelift Leaked in China

Will NA see these changes also? Or is this exclusive to Asia(China) markets? -
There are some nice features for a life style truck. But that second row is useless with adults and even car seats. The optional power train and towing capacity is intriguing. Looking forwarding to see the specs between this and Maverick.

Bronco Sport PTU overheating??

Good call out akirby on jeeps issues. Curious to see how things work out with this Vehicle. With Marketing these days everyone likes to look the part or have the "capability" if needed. -
Bronco Sport PTU overheating??
Edgeoffroad04 replied to blwnsmoke's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I don't think its too much to ask for a vehicle with a name "Bronco" on it to hold up to abuse of the said reviews. Especially if Jeep is the target. I would expect a Kia SUV to have these issues. While this isn't the "end of the world" it is concerning. The video I posted from YouTube was a production Bronco Sport for reference that over heated. As mentioned, the good news is there is the Mid size Bronco which appears to be the real deal and will handle the extremes. -
Bronco Sport PTU overheating??
Edgeoffroad04 replied to blwnsmoke's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
https://youtu.be/NjHTiGY6esQ Wild Horses(they currently sell Early Bronco parts) bought a base? model to showcase and create aftermarket parts. They too found the limits in this video of the PTU. This is not the Badlands trim level...curious how that one handles abuse. Fast forward to around the 8 min mark if you don't want to see the other KOH footage. -

Really like the Bronco's design and option list for offroad capability. As an Early Bronco owner they did the legacy of this vehicle justice and I can echo this sentiment of other fellow EB others from other sites. My big issue is the towing capacity. I really cant flat tow my EB behind this Bronco. Are there any tricks up Fords sleeves with the 2.7v6 to have a higher 4k+ towing capacity? -
Limited slip allows the transfer of up to ××% to the other wheel that isnt spinning. Majority of applications this is sufficient. Depending on your needs LS may not be able to transfer enough power to the wheel with traction to move the vehicle. I.E. rocking crawling with a wheel up in the air. Look up Detroit Truetrac as a reputable LS and how this helical gear LS works.

2021 Bronco Sync start up screen?
Edgeoffroad04 replied to silvrsvt's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Im not a fan of the intro. Being this is such a big vehicle for Ford I would expect more (and a shorter intro) -
Im no insider for jeep but yes it feels it should of been out years ago. It will be interesting to see if this makes it to market and how it does against the expedition/navigator.

I think these are the rumored Wagoneer mules based on the Ram chasis...thats what the mopar guys were stating.

Is that a hint at the use of aluminum? Or wishful thining? -
My thoughts too on the track. After sitting in a new ranger making the next gen slightly wider overall would be plus. Those in the know, I keep going back to this but should we expect the same IFS setup found on the Ranger today?

Not married to needing an SFA....any insight into the IFS setup being used under the Mule?
