  1. Lincoln field rep called me again yesterday and insisted that NO retail order will be started in most of January, however, it is possible that an existing dealer stock order can be converted to a retail order if the dealer has done so. Probably the case with Stankin's order start quote of Jan 14. January is production of dealer stock. He also told me that not all of the pre-orders will start exactly on Feb 4th. Could be a bit sooner or later as they phase them in, hopefully in order, and priority number. Once the car starts the build they shoot for 18 days to the dealer but often it turns into 4 weeks depending on when the train is loaded and departs. So these 2/4 orders will likely deliver late Feb through early March. They were very apologetic about the earlier lack of communication regarding the delays in the pre-order program and acknowledged there wasn't any great advantage as it sits beyond the obvious. The truth is by March and after, it may be possible to find your exact order, or close, somewhere in dealer stock anyway.

Just curious - what were your expectations when you placed a "pre-order"?

  2. From what I've noticed, it says "Dealer ordered" when it's in transit. I've confirmed this with a few cars in my area.

It starts out at Dealer ordered but I'm pretty sure the Dealer Ordered tag disappears after it's shipped but before it arrives at the dealer.

Suffice it to say that just because a vehicle shows in stock that doesn't mean it's actually there. It may not have arrived yet or it may already have sold.

  3. I'd imagine it 1) would 'shut off'/not turn the wheel if you put a turn signal on, and 2) wouldn't fight you if you're steering it there, but I don't know?

That wouldn't work in Atlanta - nobody uses turn signals.

I just think the system would get confused and fight you during normal lane changes. Maybe they'll get a smarter algorithm that will allow it to work when needed and not intrude when not needed. But I can understand why it's not on by default.

  4. The dealer inventory is updated automatically from Ford (the standard Ford inventory website, not a dealer specific website) and it does show vehicles as in stock while they're in transit. I don't like it either since you can't really tell without calling. But the dealership doesn't control it.

  5. rprobst - A few sites are available to give you MSRP and Invoice price on the Fusion Hybrid Energi SE and Fusion Hybrid Energi Titanium. From what I've seen x-plan pricing is Invoice + ~$700 (advertising fee + Fuel + ~$150)

That's a pretty close estimate. Let me just point out that the advertising fee is not a separate charge - it's actually included in the true dealer invoice price but since it varies by geographic location the internet sites don't ever show it. So X plan is actually (true dealer invoice) minus 0.4% (four tenths of one percent) plus $275. But since there is no way to know the true dealer invoice the formula above is within $100.

  6. Talking to someone at Ford today and he mentioned that the order time for factory orders for the MKZ is 18-20weeks? Seems that is getting close to the 2014MY. I haven't seen a Job 1 date for the 2014's but the tentative dates are coming out for a lot of models.

If that's true it's because the order banks are already full. MKZs are already arriving at dealers now. At that rate it won't be long before they close the order bank on the 2013s.

  7. Yea kinda weird. One thing I noticed about my dealer is that it's the largest I've seen in my state as far as inventory. They have over 30 2013 MKZs coming in and over 100 Lincolns alone. Maybe larger dealers get higher priority?

    Larger dealers get more allocations.

  8. Ahh. Right.

And do you have a dealer who will give you X-Plan pricing on a model that has not yet been posted on the x-Plan site?

If it's available for ordering then yes my dealer should be able to give me X plan pricing. But I haven't asked yet since I know the TI hybrid pricing is identical to the AWD titanium pricing and I can already get X plan pricing for that through fordpartner.com.

  9. I don't think anyone was really expecting a production launch at NAIAS given the known timeframe of the MKC launch. A functional concept like the MKZ would give plenty of an indication of the direction they are going with it in my opinion. We'll be able to fill in the blanks.

I expect a highly stylized concept with a new ecoboost engine (2.7L??) and 8 speed tranny with all of the new Lincoln features (ride control, vista roof, push button shifting, etc. etc. etc.).

I think it will be a showcase for Wolf's new styling direction and will be very close to the production version.

  10. Umm, that would sorta defeat the purpose. The motorhome would have to supply the extra power (which requires fuel) to overcome the extra force of regeneration. Now, if you could kick it in remotely while going downhill, then that would be sweet!

You and your conservation of energy laws..........

  11. For some reason the iPhone has to be plugged in via USB for most options to work ... So much for a wireless solution.

Huh? Phone functions only work via bluetooth (wireless). Advanced music functions (playlists, artists, voice control) only work via USB because the bluetooth protocols don't support them and you get far better audio quality via USB.

The only feature that works on both is simple music playing (stop, start, next track, prev track).

  12. There's a lot to read into such a pithy comment. It's kind of like the association people make with those big jacked up 4x4 trucks with huge tires..............over compensation? I don't know if you or they have a small penis. I drive a Miata, a manual btw, if you want to make that an issue. So I've heard ( actually read on the internet where character assassination is easier) the "chick car" thing. Nobody has ever made an issue in the real world. If they did, KMA I'd say! Or SMBigD!

Back to the Escape, didn't they notice the color when they picked it up, and signed off on it?

I believe probowler is a chick.
