It will eventually apply to ICE as well.  It’s just an easier sell for BEVs due to limited volume and limited batteries and the unique things that dealers have to do.

My guess is Google is developing a new integrated ordering and tracking system for Model E that will later be adapted to ICE.

Nothing wrong with a Telluride.  The issue is your insistence that this isn’t affecting all mfrs when it’s been widely reported otherwise as well as other member's personal experiences.

WSJ reported that Jim Farley met with 300 Ford dealers to discuss the rules Ford is establishing for BEV sales, based on zero new car inventory at dealers and a 100% online sales approach. https://www.wsj.com/articles/fords-talk-of-new-ev-selling-rules-rattles-some-dealers-11656504003

Some dealers get it, and understand the importance of a totally different approach when it comes to selling BEV. Quote below is from Rhett Ricart, a dealership owner in Ohio.

All for it but the wording seems vague on what it would actually prohibit.

My ideas are to force dealers to provide a signed buyers agreement showing the exact sale price and any fees.  Cap doc fees and make add-ons strictly optional where the buyer must opt in not opt out.

On the Telluride forums there are orders from late 2021 that haven’t been built and will likely roll over to 2023.  But yeah, this doesn’t affect Kia.

akirby reacted to Rangers09 in Ford Vehicle Ordering & Scheduling Process
Having them develop a schedule and update it, is basic project management/scheduling.

Based on my experience in manufacturing production planning, it is more efficient to develop a schedule based on the current parts/resources delivery timeline, and amend as required. Developing a schedule once parts/resources are available, increases costs and incurs delays. It's always easier to amend an existing schedule than starting from scratch.

This is heavily impacted by dealer prep.  And remember the difference in top and bottom is 1.5 to 2.5 problems per vehicle on average.  So everybody has a dealer visit to fix 1, 2 or 3 problems.

When are you folks going to realize that ford is simply following the global market?  More people want trucks and crossovers and BEVs and sedans are either commodities with low profit or very low volume.
