  1. You can change your W-4 and claim the number of exemptions to anything you want, however bonus checks and maybe a buyout checkout would qualify as a bonus, by law payroll is supposed to withhold 25% Federal taxes from all of these types of check no exemptions, if a company doesn't withhold the 25% they can be fined by the IRS, check the bonus check you just got, the Federal withholding will be 25% of your qross bonus money.
  2. This almost makes sense Subject: $85 Billion I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend. To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+. Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up. So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00. My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend. Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%. Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $2 5,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam. But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife have $595,000.00. What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family? Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved. Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads; put away money for college; save it in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs. Buy a new car - create jobs Invest in the market - capital drives growth; pay for your parent's Medical insurance - health care improves Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean or else Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, this includes those serving in our Armed Forces. If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President. If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+! As for AIG - liquidate it. Sell off its parts. Let American General go back to being American General. Sell off the real estate. Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up. Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't. Sure it's a crazy idea that can work. But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party! How do you spell Economic Boom? I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC. And remember, The Family plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam. Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.
  3. What is the date for the August 25, 2008 lay off at KTP? Is it still June of 1999, or are they laying off additional people?
  4. Someone actually knows where High Grove Kentucky is??? I know lots of people in that area?> Who are you visiting?
  5. I didn't say I expected something for nothing I was stating what it would take to get me to give up the job, the company wants us gone so they can hire others at lower wages, the buyout was their idea not mine. I just don't think many more people are going to go for what they are offering, everyone sees things different, I know what it's like to lose a job I came to work for Ford because I lost the job I had for 17 years due to the company going under, no severance nothing, just gone Pension is supposed to be protected until I reach the age of 65 but who knows, I don't count on it still being there. I was just saying I don't want to start over again, I know I will have to if Ford keeps going down hill, but why should I take the buyout, the money is about the same if you take the $100,000 or stay and get laid off and draw money for 2 years, I do work, you know nothing about me so you have no right, I've been at Ford for 9 years, perfect attendance, NO AWOLS in 9 years, no Medical leave. I probally have more hours in than so people with 15-20 years, I work with a few that might work 2 months out of the year and rest is medical time off.
  6. 45 years old 9 years, if they would give me my $900.00 per month, insurance for life and $35,000-$70,000 (like the 30 year guys) I would be gone tomorrow. But at 45, I don't want to start over again, they need to offer me something to make want to start over again the $100,000 buy out, nets you about $63,000 and 6 months of insurance, if you can't walk right into another job whats the use, and the jobs round here are starting somewhere between $8.00 and $14.00 an hour, even at $14.00 an hour for 40 hours that $560.00 per week gross, the unemployment and sub pay or the gen pool is more than that, say you draw $700 per week from whatever Ford Source, that's $36,400 over 52 weeks , if it lasts 2 years you've made more than the $100,000 buy out and you've kept insurance and you have call back rights if they start hiring again. They need to rearrange some of the offers and target a different group of workers, Make us offers we can't refuse if you really want people gone, the same offers over and over again aren't going to get them the results they want at this point in the game.
  7. that was good m.w. you got her breathin fire and crapin brimestones ha ha ha ha ah the real lwoodbluz has spoken
  8. That was before diesel and gas went up and with the new gas tax going up again. Some of these problems with lay offs have nothing to do with Ford or the UAW, You can't MAKE people buy trucks with fuel prices being that high. Times are changing and we all have to make adjustments to live in this new world like it or not. Times of working for one company and retiring is not part of the system any more, 45 years old here and the 2nd time I've had to start over, don't like it but it's life and you have to roll with blaming Ford and the UAW won't change it so why waste the energy.
  9. Has anyone heard if KTP is going to do away with a complete shift? If laid off from KTP and LAP gets new product and needs additional people will those laid off from KTP be offered those jobs or will they hire at $14.00 an hour. Will KTP be targeted for additional buyouts?
  10. From what I read, the Truck plant in Mexico, that makes everything from 150-550 will be changed over to build the Fiesta to export to US, the trucks will then be built in the US to export to Mexico, not sure how many orders that would be or where they would be built, but it might help KTP and DTP. anyone else hear this?
  11. So does anyone know if/when they are going to lay a whole shift off or are we going to continue to rotate off weeks the rest of the year?
  12. Does anyone have information on what's going on at the Truck Plant. Does anyone have info about when the Big Lay Off will take place and how many people will actually go, and does anyone think we'll be called back to work in the future.
  13. My sister battle Hep C for 20 years, died at 34 waiting for a liver transplant, not one of us in the family had it, she even had a son that didn't even contract it during her pregnancy, it's not that easy to get Tell the person if they don't like working with him, then transfer out of department
  14. Does anyone know how the tution Ford is paying on behalf of employees taking the Education Buyouts will be reported? I know the 50% of wages is reported on the W-2, but will the Tutition paid on behalf of the employee be reported on a w-2 and therefore taxable?? Thanks for the help
  15. Just heard they are sending people home from KTP, Not enough people showed up to run???? Anyone else hear this?
