  1. Update: Ford has reimbursed me for the expense of the repair--$446.28!
  2. Thanks, YT90SC. As I posted not long ago, I was on a long drive from Trevose, PA to Ann Arbor, MI and back, and the whole power-train stalled out several times, nearly causing a serious accident or two. I'm an expert driver so I and my Mariner Hybrid survived intact, but it was extremely dangerous.
  3. This is very good news, except that I shelled out over $400 for this coolant pump last month. Can I get reimbursed???
  4. Yes, I have a mostly trouble-free 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid AWD. I certainly wouldn't trade it for a new Escape!
  5. I got mine in the mail, also. I think I'll wait a month for the "crowds" to subside.
  6. My local mechanic installed the new electronic coolant pump on Monday; the total cost was over $400. So far, so good--no issues.
  7. I just came back from a local event going 40 mph and it happened again--the engine shut off, and the battery mode did NOT kick in. I shifted into neutral and coasted along, with my hazard lights on, until I could find a place to pull-over and re-start the engine. I now think that Ford should issue a recall for the coolant pump. I'm a very skillful driver, so I'm safe, but non-skillful drivers may end up in a crash!
  8. Thanks, dwg. I have an OBD II scanner, so I checked the codes today; they are P0A3E, P0562, and P1A0D. The first two refer to "TRANS $01" and the third refers to "ENG $00"--Hybrid powertrain control module. These codes are listed in TSB 08-24-5. I've scheduled an appointment with my mechanic for next Monday.
  9. 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid AWD. I drove from Trevose, PA to Ann Arbor, MI and back this past weekend. The traffic flow was 80 mph +/- 10 mph. At three separate times (one on the way up and two on the way back) the engine shutoff, with the triangular hazard light showing on the instrument panel with the message "You may safely stop now." Apparently the engine overheats and is shutdown. See TSB 08-24-5; it seems that the electric coolant pump has to be replaced. Has anyone else here had this issue? Other then the wheel sensor tone ring and some rusting I've had no other trouble in the 79000 miles I've owned the Mariner.
  10. A C-Max is NOT an SUV! I can't go off-road with it!
  11. As heard on the Nightly Business Report. My 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid AWD hasn't been recalled once. So there. By the way, when is Ford going to bring back a compact hybrid SUV?????
  12. Nokian WRG2 SUV tires, made in Finland, are all-season tires with excellent snow traction--they have the extra star for that. I have them on my 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid AWD--they are very quiet, comfortable, and provide excellent grip in all conditions.
  13. For a road trip like that, in my 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid AWD, I get 32-34 mpg. I'm disgusted with Ford for 1) ending the Mercury brand, and 2) for no longer manufacturing hybrid SUV's!
  14. Yes, it's very low. Too bad you didn't get a Mercury Mariner Hybrid or a Ford Escape Hybrid when they were available. I get 26-34 mpg in mine. The low figure, 26, is during winter, when the battery is not as efficient, and when the EPA requires some additive in gasoline which has the effect of lowering efficiency.
