  1. Yes, the Focus ACTIVE is one of those white space vehicles.
  2. But isn't the Fusion assembly being done in Mexico cheaper than dirt? Must be much lower costs comparing to the non-union labor assembly locations.
  3. By what Farley said I am going to assume that these not traditional sedans will be similar design language or type of vehicles like the ACTIVE line, the DS 4 Crossback, Citroen C3 Aircross & C4 Cactus, and BMW's weird looking X4, & X6 style. My assumption why Ford is using the cars don't make us profit angle is to tell the money people who cares if we lose a couple hundred thousand customers we don't make any money on. Sounds like good business but to me begs the question how do the other companies make it work? Don't they all have to answer to shareholders, Wall street etc as well?
  4. This a quote from Farley in the Q/A session - How we think about our lineup in North America especially is that we are developing incremental nameplates we don't have today and shifting the allocation of the capital portfolio to utility body styles, and there will be a variety, a growing variety, of those products. To give you a flavor, we'll have more authentic off-roaders, building our Built Ford Tough background like Bronco and other new nameplates we don't sell today. We will refresh our entire lineup of traditional crossovers and SUVs that everyone knows, like Explorer and Escape. And then we're going to be introducing and taking capital and redeploying it for also new silhouettes, products that give customers the utility benefits without the penalty of fuel economy. And they will be performance and active executed, so they'll be very emotional. So lots of raised vehicles that will include ST badges and ACTIVE badges aka Edge ST and Focus ACTIVE. I know when Farley was doing his EU gig he mentioned he was a fan of some of the not so normal variants Peugeot is bringing out which could be the new silhouettes he talked about yesterday.
  5. Question for the people who actually work in the Ford N.A. assembly plants. What do you think of what Hackett said in his speech today regarding where some of this money saving will come from. Quote Hackett - Our fitness work has also allowed us to reduce the capital intensity of our business by $5 billion over our plan horizon, 2019 to 2022. We had expected to invest $34 billion, and that's now dropped to $29 billion. For example, we've identified opportunities to drive capital reduction through reuse of equipment and tools in our plants. The reuse of equipment and tools, is this really a good plan. Won`t this cause more down time fixing old equipment
  6. Reading through Ford Europe's media release from their media pages (not outside source pages) the all new C2 platform phrase is mentioned a few times. Whether that is considered official or not appears to be ones own deduction. :-) https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/feu/en/news/2018/04/10/ford-unveils-all-new-focus--most-innovative--dynamic-and-excitin.html
  7. From the horses mouth - "The all-new Focus is the first vehicle globally to be based on Ford’s new C2 platform designed to enhance crash performance; deliver more interior space for Ford’s mid-size models without negatively impacting exterior dimensions; and support improved aerodynamics for better fuel-efficiency. Best-ever craftsmanship and quality is delivered following a €600 million investment at Ford’s Saarlouis assembly facility, Germany. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/feu/en/news/2018/04/10/ford-unveils-all-new-focus--most-innovative--dynamic-and-excitin.html
  8. Good overview video with English subtitles
  9. China is showing the sedan. There is no North American info in the press release so far
  10. Both vehicles have their merits. Personally I prefer a car as my "normal" driving priorities are enjoying how a vehicle drives be it to go get a bag of groceries or a nice winding country black top. The high rider is great because it makes my wife happy. Choice is the deal.

  12. BTW, this is what Ford's press release stated "Production begins in the second half of 2019, with models coming from the company’s existing Focus plants globally. Most new North American Focus models initially will come from China, with additional variants coming from Europe later." https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2017/06/20/ford-invests-in-ky-plant-to-build-new-expedition-navigator.html In a business sense the cost of Focus assembly in the Saarlouis Germany plant is a hell of a lot more expensive than MAP or Shanghai, so I doubt anything less than the performance models and (ACTIVE pending MSRP) would not be cost efficient. If what Ford says is true that USA doesn't make money on the normal Foci trims.
  13. Russia will not get the MK4, and I understand Argentina assembly has been told they will not be building the MK4. I received confirmation that the reveal will happen in London UK at 4pm, which would be 10am EST. When I receive the live stream link I will post it.
  14. They do but the trim is called Flagship on the sedan. The hatch has a Sport trim which is almost identical to the sedan Flagship spec, same price but the Sport includes sporty bits like suspension and appearance things, both with the 1.5 EB 180hp and automatic. The way they are spec'd in comparison to the EU fully optioned Titanium is identical. The ST variant is an import.
  15. Price list I saw for one of the EU markets, Trend to ST-Line, the ST-Line is priced higher than Titanium for some weird reason now, and it showed increases from 500-1,500 euro. And that was just for the powertrains available in this soft launch being the 1.0EB and 1.5 diesel. The 1.5EB info won't happen until September with the offical launch.
  16. Ford will unveil the Focus on Tuesday, April 10 simultaneously in London and in Shanghai. The hatchback will be shown in London, likely alongside the station wagon version, while the sedan will be revealed in Shanghai. Ford is expected to show the new model lines at the London event. European versions of the Focus will continue to be built in Ford's plant in Saarlouis, Germany, which has had a $600 million (490 million euro) refit to build the new model. The U.S. market will get Focus sedans built in China starting in the second half of 2019. Ford said the production shift to China would save the company $500 million in tooling costs. All versions of the new Focus were designed and engineered at Ford's technical center in Cologne, Germany. http://europe.autonews.com/article/20180404/ANE/180409868/ford-teases-new-focus-ahead-of-europe-china-reveal
  17. The car in the teaser is the same blue hatch that was posted some time ago in the flesh. It is the ST-Line spec not the ST spec.
  18. Yep, 164hp 167 ft.lb https://www.ford.mx/camiones/ranger/versiones/xl-gasolina/
  19. According to this Nov.11, 2017 Mexican publication - Just one month from now (Thursday, December 14) the president and CEO of Ford Mexico, Gabriel Lopez, will be in Hermosillo and will come with the purpose of giving us all very good news to all Sonorans. The senior executive will present the new project "Ford CX 430 Program" which in principle was contemplated for the Cuautitlán plant. It is a new car that will start manufacturing in the Hermosillo plant and that will mean a greater use of installed capacity and, therefore, more demand for labor and supply. http://www.elimparcial.com/Columnas/DetalleColumnas/1191038-Efecto-multiplicador-Javier-Villegas-Orpinela.html
  20. Didn't Ford N.A. price the EcoSport to take over Focus sales? I know in Canada at the dealership EcoSport test drive and briefings, they where told by Ford Canada that the EcoSport is basically replacing the Focus. To be honest I was floored with the crazy high price points of the EcoSport in USA & Canada. If they sell them good for them, but IMO the EcoSport is way to low rent for the asking prices.
