  1. I wonder if they'll go to 48v architecture as well? I remember Tesla claiming the 12v motors couldn't move fast enough on their steering (or maybe they had to be extra big/heavy to handle it... something like that. It came across as one of the main drivers for the switch to 48v)
  2. I'm having that problem where you see a picture one way and you can't unsee it lol, I can't make it work the way you're saying in my brain. Hopefully we get some more pics of this thing soon.
  3. I could be wrong, but I'm seeing it without the front casting. Green=firewall, blue=bottom of windshield, red=a pillar, yellow=door.
  4. I think Giga Shanghai did 800-900k the last couple of years.
  5. I'd agree if BlueCruise was anywhere in the same realm of capability, but quite frankly they shouldn't have confidence in it. I can put my seatbelt on, tell Grok where I want to go, push the start button and not touch the pedals or steering wheel from my driveway to a parking spot at the destination. Can also just tell it I need to use the bathroom and it'll find me one, or hey I want some lunch, want an energy drink, etc and it just takes you there. Latest FSD is mind blowingly good, not just some hands free highway driving. I'll agree Ford probably would've had a tough time integrating with their inefficiencies in wiring and compute up until now, but sounds like this CE1 platform is taking a lot of cues from how Tesla does it. I believe Mercedes is using the nVidia system, coming as soon as this year. I don't have much confidence in Ford coming up with their own vision based AI self driving system or anything more than driver assist, but great if they can pull it off.. if not hopefully they can work with nVidia or Tesla.
  6. Maybe, but we're in a model Y with FSD (coming out of an MKC) because Ford didn't have anything close. I think a Lincoln licensing FSD or even going with the new nVidia end to end driving software would be a compelling option. But if they just want to keep chasing a dying customer base with minimal effort and expense I guess we can't expect much more than what we see. I'm cool with them pivoting to performance with some ICE stuff too, though I don't think it really makes sense for the brand, but I'd be happy to see some kind of direction. I know I'm all over the place on this comment, but it's kind of like "Do SOMETHING, even if it's wrong" for me at this point.
  7. I was thinking of Slate reading your first post, still not convinced the cheap people clamoring for something like that will buy it, personally think they'll come up with another excuse... but could be interesting to see Ford's take on a cheap customize it yourself truck.
  8. Don't understand why they didn't take the opportunity to make BEV Lincolns with all the latest tech and really differentiate while being able to pull Lincoln prices to offset the battery cost... and fitting right in with the quiet flight/luxury theme, but I guess that ship has sailed (for now anyway). I do like the idea of some variants of mustang/cd6/t6, if ce1 isn't luxury capable or they aren't ready for that yet (still not sure if inexpensive means CHEAP or efficient on that one, though I'm hoping for the latter based on what has been said about design/production)
  9. I mean, there's room between ranger and f150 for an f100 and room between f150 and superduty for an f200 when looking at payload/towing... but I don't think either of those would fit in the affordable range unless they were just stripped down versions of the respective bigger one and "affordable" compared to that.
  10. Might actually be pretty hilarious to slap the pinto name on one of the new CE1 cars and watch that section of the population talk about EV fires....
  11. Pretty sure Brian Wolfe designed the godzilla, or at least was a big part of it, before retiring from Ford. He does have some cool aftermarket stuff for them now.
  12. Isn't ranger what makes the fullsize bronco viable and bronco what makes ranger viable? Is there enough volume on t6 to justify just Bronco? I'd like to see a "regular" SUV on t6 and Lincoln variant too, kind of like tacoma/4 runner/whatever the lexus is. Maybe throw a Bronco pickup in there too on t6. Though I guess you might start running out of production room if they're all successful ... then maybe killing off ranger would make sense if it's the least profitable out of those, but might be worth expanding production if they're all successful and profitable.. would find it hard to believe that ranger isn't making money being built and sold everywhere.
  13. For me personally, it is towing capacity and range holding me back from jumping to BEV for my work truck. I'm just barely into needing a 250 class vehicle. The 150s will technically/legally tow my 26ft enclosed with lawn equipment, but I tow essentially 100% of the time with my work truck and I think we all know if you're almost at max capacity all of the time things are going to start breaking down pretty quickly. We did make the jump on my gf's commuter to bev and went with a new model Y a few months ago and even with all the classics/custom builds I own, it is one of the coolest cars I've ever been in and it just keeps getting over the air updates to make the FSD and UI better. Quieter than her previous MKC, though on very rough roads I notice it struggles a little more controlling the NVH. Fast af too. Not going to put that shit eating grin on my face like 7.3psd turbo noises or a big block 460 screaming at 6k rpm (but putting the hammer down legit makes me giggle lol), but objectively it is an amazing car for people that just want to go a-b with little or no maintenance. Price is definitely a barrier for most now, especially with the tax credit going away - we pulled the trigger because it was, not because we were having any issues with the mkc. As far as an EREV, it defeats the purpose for me. Delete the engine for batteries, then put the engine back in and add all that complexity back in. Might work for some people and might even sell better than a pure BEV, but I'm not interested. I'll wait until battery tech improves. If Tesla can do it with Semi someone can do it with a pickup that needs to tow around 10k every day.
