  1. So what happen to Lincoln Concierge service that covered the whole experience of buying to ownership? And I believe the average Lincoln buyer is over 60 years old. Why buy a Lincoln if service is no better than average Ford dealer. I thought Lincoln would come to your house and do pick up, drop off, and give you a loaner.
  2. Don't forget aluminum which seems to in short supply and inflated cost. FSeries nd Expedition/Navigator use lots of aluminum and all in short supply it seems. I really believe it's more than chip shortages.
  3. In Central FL, the F150 is just another pickup truck among many. But the Super Duty is by far the King of the Hill here. Optioned out Super Duties with the big tires clutter the major highways here. About every major contractor and even the smaller landscapers covet the Super Duty. They really stand out and make the traditional pickup look like a toy. Too bad Ford is having such a hard time building them.
  4. Yeah, you would think Ford would move mountains to build more high profit Super Duties, but they seem to be in very short supply.
  5. Since most buyers finance their vehicles, financing is a huge part of this equation. Ford Credit offers some very low interest or no interest loans that can save the buyer thousands of dollars. If 0%, it would be foolish to pay cash, and easily makes up for little to no rebate. And on truly super hot vehicles that everyone wants, makes sense to show patience and wait for the popularity to subside. Still remember the PT Cruiser and how a couple years later it was just another vehicle sitting on lot for 60 days. Ditto for 2002 Thundebird.
  6. Weird about the Edge as CR gives it a high rating, and recommends it.
  7. Wow, Edge sales are exploding up. Go Edge. FSeries and Expedition sales are getting hammered. I imagine fuel prices are probably 25% of the drop. And the other 30% parts shortage. Still not sure why Mustang outsells Mach E month after month.
  8. Just read an article of experience with new BEV. Between having an older house and buying a Level 2 Charger, it was a long, expensive process. And this from a guy living in Northern CA. So to me anyway, a hybrid, plugin with standard Level 1 Charger makes more sense in 2022. So I would think by 2026 every Ford product will come in hybrid, plugin, and/or BEV form. Especially since 40mpg combined will be the law.
  9. This is where defining your terms is so important. I notice that Ford uses the term "electrified vehicles" when bragging about its electric vehicle sales. And we know that Ford means hybrids, plugins, and full electrics when using that term. So when Ford talks about producing 2 million electrics by 2026, it means the full range of electrics, not just BEVs. Now maybe some regions of N.A. will ban the sale of hybrids by 2030, but hybrids and plugins will still be needed much later in this decade. Ford also just patented a hydogen turbo powered hybrid engine it has been developing.
  10. For example, Dominion Utility in Virginia wants to build a massive multi billion dollar wind farm along the Virginia shore to meet its renewable target percentage. However, the attorney general of Virginia is taking Dominion to court in trying to delay or stop the project. Moreover, all electric cars can't help much if all their energy comes from fossil fuel power plants. That is why in the interim hybrids are the sweet spot in this market.....use up to 50% less fuel and 50% cleaner than conventional ICE. It will take decades for the power grid to transition to 100% renewables.
  11. With all the uncertainty in the world right now, I don't see how any firm targets can be established on anything. Only goals. We are well into 2022 now, and we seem to be moving farther away from normality, not closer. So IMO firm targets are meaningless.
  12. I believe $60. My dealer normally charges $600, but with X plan only $60. And 10% off on options. I assume this applies to only vehicles that are not in extreme demand like Escape, Edge, and Explorer. Ford dealers for decades don't recognize Ford plans on vehicles like Shelby Mustangs and the like.
  13. With synthetic oil, once a year is fine assuming average mileage. Porsche advised once a year with Mobil One synthetic oil. I go about 10 months with my Escape when Ford Pass says I have about 30% life left. And again synthetic oil only. When I had my Boxster, I changed the oil just before I garaged it for winter. So every October. I used to do it every 6 months with my everyday vehicle when I drove over 12,000 miles/ year.
  14. Also telling other people to never buy a Ford product is rather telling. I felt sorry for him until he made that statement.
  15. In normal times, Edge sales averaged around 12,000/month and even now were over 8,000 last month. Don't see how Ford can afford to lose that volume. Mach E averages around 2,500/month. I guess we will have to wait and see what the replacement is. But 12,000/month will be hard to meet. Around here, the Edge is the number 1 selling Ford CUV. And Nautilus is ditto for Lincoln.
  16. Pretty risky bet if true when you consider how popular the Edge is. And whether the fed and state governments will continue to subsidize BEVs is very problematic. Looked like a slam dunk a year ago, but not so much anymore. Since BEVs on average at least $10,000 more expensive than ICE, middle income buyers will not move in mass to all electric. Meantime, look to hybrids to carry the load for the next few years at least.
  17. The exterior lighting on this vehicle is eye popping. Makes a Tesla look very pedestrian and dated. Eyes are looking for the next shiny object, and this may be it. The BEV competition is really heating up.
  18. This vehicle is a game changer, but I don't see how they can do it at that price point with the way it is being shown with that panoramic display. The vehicle being shown will be closer to $50,000. The stripped down model will look more like an Escape S than a $45,000 Escape Titanium Elite. And the Escape S has a little 4 inch display screen. Chevy has no big time cost advantage over Ford.
  19. Yeah....April, May, and June are the biggest sales months of the year excepting December, and not good that inventory is so dismal and not improving. Most people are used to seeing vehicle on lot they like and driving it off next day or so. Most don't have the patience to order and wait a year or more for it. Many will cancel and buy used or from another auto company. "Thank you for your patience" is a phrase that rings hollow to many.
  20. Since there is tremendous pressure on all auto companies to increase the size of their infotainment screens, I don't think Ford is going to refresh the Escape and leave the interior alone. Already, they have changed the design of the doorcards, changed the color of the wood on the Titanium, and added appearance packages that include contrasting red stitching. I think Ford is aware how competitive and important this segment as it seems like the Koreans come out with new CUV every other month. And hopefully in next couple years they will be able to produce many more hybrids...maybe up to 50% of total production.
  21. I would bet the refreshed Escape is getting a larger tablet screen and quilted seats on the upper trims.
  22. Yeah, I hope fleet, commercial buyers move to BEV way before high income luxury buyers that drive under 10,000 miles/year do. That will help the environment significantly more than the well to do not driving for a living. So bring on Ford Pro and Transit E van. That is Ford's bread and butter anyway. Delivery trucks go up and down are street everyday including weekends. So will be nice to start seeing E vans in a couple years maybe.
  23. Yeah, the 5.0 badge does seem to be missing. My '83 Convertible 5.0 was not a GT, but a GLX and still had most of the goodies like special Michelin tires with slot wheels, 5 sp. manual, and traction bars to reduce wheel hop. No air dam though.
  24. The big difference is that they use skids in the Lightning plant. Don't think any other Ford assembly plant uses moving skids like this plant does.
  25. Grea, informative post. Thanks. And don't forget the Ford test track right across the street. With a little creativity, you can catch some interesting action despite the wall. And the car shows there during the warmer months are incredible. Seeing Jimmy Clark's winning Lotus is priceless.
