  1. I know I am in the minority in this current environment, but I took bought a 2009 Fusion SEL V6 in September because I loved the test drive. It was smooth and fun. I chose this Fusion because I was trying to balance/satisfy my need for safety (ESC, reverse sensing which has already saved me once, good acceleration when necessary, 4-wheel disc brakes & ABS), sufficient room to feel comfortable while driving, some extra features that are just plain fun (ambient lighting that I just can't believe that I like so well at my age, leather heated front seats, moon roof, the incredible SYNC, remote start), reliability, along with adequate gas mileage that won't bankrupt me. I test drove quite a few cars including the Focus, Taurus, the 4-cyl Fusion, and the V6 Fusion. I leaned toward Ford because the local dealership took such good care of my Focus ZX-3. Of the cars I test drove, I just had the most fun driving the V6 Fusion so I ordered one. I am going to drive this car for the next 7 years or so and didn't want to regret every day I started the engine that it was going to be another boring drive to work. I won't regret anything because the V6 Fusion SEL is fun, really good-looking with its brilliant silver paint and 2-tone stone leather interior, has plenty of acceleration when merging onto the expressway, and is giving me good-enough mileage in the low 20s. When car buyers get over their low gas mileage fetish and consider a more well-rounded view of their needs during their commute (safety, comfort, fun), I think they'll be back in the dealerships buying more fully-featured cars. If not, I'll be the happiest person pulling into the parking lot each morning I go to work.
  2. The flip-up lid with a shelf in the middle of the top of the dash is a nice touch to carry change, papers, and other items. However, at night, you can't easily locate small items like change on that shelf because it is completely dark. A small light that goes on when the lip flips up would be very helpful. I am figuring out how to use Sync, and it's great! I really love it. However, a DVD or even a CD that works on your PC with a 20-minute video on how to use Sync with be a useful compliment to the manual. Change the agreement with Sirius so that it doesn't stop working after you've owned your new Ford for only 5 days until you make a call to Sirius' toll-free number. I'm convinced they are just trying to sell me an extension. 5 days isn't enough time to set the hook on developing a passion for Sirius. I've owned my 2009 Fusion for 2 weeks and started to like some of the Sirius channels during the first 5 days when it worked, but decided I could do without the hassle and didn't call Sirius after the message popped up the screen. Sirius is just sitting there and expiring one day at a time. I felt incredibly annoyed that they would require me to make a call from my car before any additional service was allowed considering that the service is supposed to be free for the first 6 months. I'll bet if I had used it for 60 days before the "Call Sirius..." message had come up that I would have developed a enough of a passion for its great music that I would have called right away. More patience, Sirius.
  3. I researched Fusion's reliability in Consumer Reports, J D Powers, and other places, and found it has great reliability. So I ordered a 2009 Fusion and picked it up today while it is still being offered in the configurations that delivered such great reliability outcomes. I particularly like that the Fusion now comes with optional Advance Trac with ESC. By the way, the first 30 miles were great! :hyper: While both the 4-cyl and 6 cyl are well above average in reliability, the V6 does better than the 4 cyl in the Consumer Reports data. While the AWD does best of all, I decided I didn't need that so I bought a brillant silver Fusion with V6, Moon & Tune, Reverse sensing, Med Lt Stone Leather seating, Advance Trac with ESC, and Remote start. I am looking forward to that very cold winter day when I go to the window of my office when it is time to go home after a hard day's work and click the remote start to make sure my car is nice and warm by the time I get across the snow covered parking lot and climb in. I know that image isn't helpful in Saudia Arabia, but the remote start will also cool my car down on hot days before I arrive since it has climate control. I really like driving the Fusion and bet you will too.
  4. Thank you for that information on the definition of Monroney. I included a link to the Monroney sticker in my earlier post. Here it is again. http://apps.dealerconnection.com/dealers/k...lerPACode=02163 The puzzling thing is that the price for the Moon & Tune Value Package on the Monroney sticker is $425 higher than the price for the same package on the Ford Web site and $425 higher than last year. It seems like such a big and surprisingly inconsistent pricing difference. Hopefully, Ford isn't violating some clause in the Monroney legislation that launched these disclosure stickers. Whoever knows the reason for this pricing difference isn't talking. Oh well. Thanks again.
  5. Here is an example of this issue on a sticker on Ford's dealerconnection Web site: http://apps.dealerconnection.com/dealers/k...lerPACode=02163 Because the sticker does not contain this discount on this Ford website, I think this is a Ford issue. Although I was a little rattled when I first noticed it, I don't believe this is something created by a dealer misstep. I really doubt that this particular dealer would make that kind of error since they have been totally honest and above board with me on both large and small issues for the past 17 years that I have been buying cars and getting service from them. I discussed this with a salesman at the dealership. He explained that he understood that the moon & tune discount is only available on V-6 models, but not the 4-cylinder models. That explanation is consistent with the window stickers (with blue ovals) on Fusions in the dealer lot. I decided I didn't care one way or the other after I drove both the V-6 and 4-cylinder models. I liked the V-6 so much better that I ordered one of those. By the way, I have never heard of the word marony, nor could I find a definition online. What does that mean?
  6. The Sable appears not to have a 2010 build date according to Donlen at http://www.donlen.com/buildstart_ford.html. Am I reading Donlen's chart correctly and is that the truth? The 2010 Milan and the 2010 Taurus both have build dates, but the 2010 Sable is noted at N/A, not TBD. Hmm.
  7. Some dealers are displaying a Ford sticker on 2009 Fusions with the Moon & Tune Value option at $1,220 with a $425 discount on the sticker, but my favorite dealer has what appears to be an official Ford window sticker on the 2009 Fusions in his lot with the $1,220 price for Moon & Tune without the discount which seems to overprice his Fusions by $425. It makes me question his honesty. Am I jumping to the wrong conclusion? Does someone understand the 2009 Fusion pricing well enough to explain this discrepancy? By the way, the official Ford Web site lists the MSRP of Moon and Tune on the Fusion at $795, and it doesn't discuss the $1,220 price with a $425 discount. You can find this pricing ($1,220 list minus $425 discount) on Edmonds and Kelly. No site prices Moon & Tune at $1,220 without the discount. Please educate me on why my favorite dealer is doing this.
  8. You asked about dependability and reliability of the Focus. I have a 2003 Focus ZX-3 with 112,678 miles. The only problem was that the transmission needed to be replaced at 20,000 miles. That gave me pause, to be sure. But it was fully covered by the warranty and has worked fine ever since. The only other reliability issue was that a bulb went out in the dashboard at 105,000 miles. The other repairs have been routine maintenance. I am getting itchy for a new car and am only considering Fords because of the great service I have received from my local dealer and the dependability of my Focus. I am waiting to for the new Focus, but am changing my mind every day on which model to get. With the huge discount on the Taurus and the fact that the Taurus gets comparable gas mileage with the Fusion, even that is looking good. Ford has good choices this year.
  9. The www.dealerconnection.com is a terrific, well-designed Ford Website that has excellent information about new cars at Ford dealers. It is the best in the industry. I was just surprised and disappointed that someone at Ford made the decision not to publicize 2009 Fusions already on the dealer lots.
  10. The new 2009 Fusions are in the dealer lots, so why hasn't Ford updated its Web site at www.ford.com to show 2009 Fusion features and pricing and updated www.dealerconnection.com to show 2009 Fusion inventories at its dealers?
  11. Thank you very much. When will pricing be available so I can place an order? I really want the electronic stability control so a 2008 won't do.
  12. If the 2009 Focus SEL 4dr. described in Wheels.Ca at http://www.wheels.ca/newVehicles/profile/248779 is going to be sold in the US, it seems to be exactly what I am looking for the replace my ZX-3 with 110,000 miles. I especially like that ESC, ABS, and heated seats are standard. The front and sides look like the new 2009 Focus coupe, so I am wondering if the back end is the same as well. It would be great if someone would post the 2009 Focus order guide, more pictures of the sedan, and full pricing so those of us who frequent this board could be informed before others on the Internet. In any event, I'm looking forward to seeing the 2009 Focus SEL when it arrives at my dealer.
  13. When do we find out? Saturday at the Focus Reveal (?) event?
  14. Here it is. 2009MilanOrderGuide.pdf
  15. US Fiesta Hatchback = One World, One Car, One Name. I really like the looks and name of the new Fiesta, but am disappointed that Ford does not currently plan to offer a Fiesta hatchback in the United States. Whenever I drive on Cleveland area highways and streets, I see many twins to my Focus ZX-3 hatchback (which I love) so it seems that there is a significant demand for hatchbacks. I would think that if Ford wishes to be successful in its Fiesta launch, it ought to try harder to satisfy the many US buyers who prefer a hatchback to a sedan.
