  1. Just so we are perfectly clear bigpish here is a post after reading thru the 2011 tentative agreement. Copy and pasted from the other site I was talking about, no fear mongering just the language please. liqudspine UAW Moderator Full Time Driver * Karma: +15/-2 Online Online Posts: 276 View Profile Email Personal Message (Online) Re: Ford tentative contract 2011 « Reply #1 on: October 13, 2011, 12:34:32 pm » Reply with quoteQuote Modify messageModify Remove messageRemove Split TopicSplit Topic -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My personal opinion on the tentative agreement is the good out weighs the bad, at least over issues I can relate too. I do not understand all the trades language because simply put I am not trades nor have i really studied their agreements. When you look at the employment numbers in this country and the fact we are in-sourcing products from other countries it really should be a no brain-er. My feelings on past mods has been well known on this site. As I have stated on BON i wanted 3 main things this contract; 1. Good product commitments- while I know these are subject to market conditions and even as recent as the 2007 agreement some plants did not receive there commitments, the bottom line is without these we have nothing holding the company to keep investing in our plants which keep us working. The fact that AAI will be saved from closure with the Fusion being in-sourced from Mexico is huge in my opinion, 60k - 90k units of Mustang sales would have surely sealed that plants fate if they do not get this product there. I do not yet how the in-sourcing of the medium duty will impact OHAP, I am under the assumption that will keep current employment levels at that plant as well. While some of the commitments are re-commitments I strongly believe Ford is on the right track and the commitments in this contract should for the most part be realized, we should not forget all the commitments in the Octomods were realized that went to ACH plants however all the others have not. So for contract issue 1. i believe the negotiators exceeded my expectations. 2. Improve Entry Level- with a modest raise Bob King has fulfilled his this concern of mine after the 2007 contract, considering he was able to get this at the 2 departments that could have faced arbitration over this even being entertained is a huge gain in my opinion. Let me be clear I hate entry level to begin with however we allowed it in 2007, now we need to ensure we get those workers on par with us sooner rather than later. If we do not in the near future we risk being pulled down to their level if we do not raise there standards before they become the majority. Modest gain but a step in the right direction. 3. SUB/ TAP improvements- with the same amount of weeks as we had for 2 years I was disappointed not to at the very least see these credit weeks doubled. This is our only protection against market conditions that are unfavorable. That's my top 3 priorities coming into this contract year, seeing that 2 of the top 3 goals were meet or exceeded is why I voted yes. The biggest let down in my opinion was no gains for retirees what so ever is disappointing to say the least, that being said I still believe overall the good out weighs the bad.
  2. tooltime in 2007 I am proud to say I was one of many that made that PDF available for the membership on these boards and another site, it was in 2011 that it was posted in the normal media and IUAW.
  3. Riiight bigphish you haven't even been around the last two contracts so try again. IUAW knows who I am and why they have sent some of my former reps to talk to me during the mods (which I was very outspoken against, even though I was wrong on the first set of mods in 2009). No IUAW reps haven't spoken to me because I attend all of the events that are put on, I do my job and never go to UAW "events" that is something I can hang my hat on. I offered information and a path to information as I have always done on the message boards, you offer insults and fear mongering.....good try haters going to hate, I'm not mad I understand you need some forum to vent.
  4. Anyone that remembers me from when I first started posting knows that the "highlights" were not enough for me, I wanted details. Now serving as an elected rep for 2 terms I offer what is given to me and something any one here that wants to see the language can/should demand from their elected reps. Before any informational meetings at any Local take place the elected reps are called down to their Regional office, they are briefed on the contract and there is a Q&A session that follows much like what happens at the Locals before the vote on the tentative agreement. At that meeting all elected reps in attendance are given the big books that contain the actual language, including the unpublished letters of understanding. I offer an open door policy for people that have specific questions and want to see the language, I urge all that want to see the language to ask your reps to see these books. While I am sure most will be posted somewhere online within days after a tentative agreement is reached much as it was in 2011 and 2007, via the news, this and other sites, it is the memberships responsibility to be as informed as possible before casting a vote. Those that choose not to seek information and only vote based on "feelings" or "word on the street" is only doing themselves and this membership a disservice.
  5. ETAP has been alive and well for active hourly since the 2011 contract, just saying.
  6. Ford Department has not called for a strike Nationally since 1976, just saying.
  7. Thank you Teamsters, even though the UAW didn't stand behind them 5 or so years ago, I am sure the fact that there has not been a national Ford UAW strike since UAW has no baring on this announcement. It's easy to stand behind a group when you know they will not strike, I am happy that the strike vote was passed overwhelmingly however considering how well the UAW and Ford Departments relationship is, I do not believe that a strike would be called.
  8. I bought a new Taurus and 3 months after they offered 8k rebates on the SHO, I made my purchase when I did, got the rebates available at the time of purchase. Really 35 years retired and he did not know that that end of model/year rebates were coming? cmon..... Sorry that bad timing changes his mind for future purchases for a company that raised you, just sad really.
  9. I have had my 2015 SEL now for 2,500 miles have not had any quality issues, Great job CAP workers!!
  10. Layoffs are never about attendance Lol, its as simple as supply and demand. Hoping for the best for all that will be impacted and I'm hoping for a quick return or the chance to change locations wherever that may be.
  11. June 28th is a Sunday, or do you mean the week of June 29th?
  12. I liked littlecountry's post, however I will say it is imperative that we get entry level on the same playing field as traditional employees pay and benefits period. Would I like a raise? yup sure would haven't seen one in ten years, however entry level was introduced to allow the UAW to bargain work back to the US during the worst recession since the great depression. That time has passed, I do not have the answers but one solution is what the CAW did by increasing the "grow in period" to reach 10 years. That is the best solution that I can see the company buying into that is a win, win for all parties involved. Entry level employees would know that once they are vested they will be paid and receive the same benefits current traditional employees enjoy, as well as would keep labor cost lower for at least a decade. As indicated by the IUAW this will be the primary bargaining issue this coming contract, the only issue as important/more important is future product commitments that will allow us all to continue working.
  13. SUB pay is normally processed on Tuesdays and Thursday, don't know if that helps but that's how it works.
