  1. I encountered an issue that happened for the first time today with our new 2020 Escape Titanium (w/ dual zone climate). After starting the car, I turned the A/C on by just turning the power on (meaning it was in auto mode at a 68 degree set temperature). Instead of blowing cold air, it blew very warm air. The car was garaged, so it wasn't a matter of needing to cool down or anything. This continued for a while. Once it became unbearable, I switched it to Max A/C. At this point, it started blowing cold air. I then switched it back to auto at 68 degrees and it worked fine (continued to blow cold air). This only happened once and I haven't been able to recreate it since. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone know of a TSB for this issue? It's not a big deal at this time, but definitely something we're going to keep an eye on. Thanks.
  2. We had issues with Sync 3 in our Escape (Titanium non-hybrid) on the first day or two that we had it. The voice prompt from Sync would stutter when talking and it wouldn't recognize the majority of our voice commands. I also noticed that the update process got stuck in a loop checking for updates after connecting to my home WiFi. I didn't do anything in particular to resolve the issue, but within a day or two things returned to normal. I did make the following changes (all intentional and not in response to the problems), so I don't know if they have anything to do with it or not: Disabled Gracenote. I play my music from a USB drive and it was making a mess of the audio tags, including getting many of them wrong. Connected to my home WiFi. (I don't think it downloaded any updates, but perhaps it did.) Removed the USB drive, added a few songs to it, and reinserted it. Since that first day or two, everything has worked fine. I've only used the navigation once and didn't notice any issues. The only slowness I see is when changing songs. If I tell Sync to play a particular song, the current song continues to play for a good 5 seconds or so before it finally switches to the new one. I just assume that's normal behavior (or due to the number of songs I have on my USB drive), although my last vehicle (Sync 1) would instantly switch tracks. Hopefully it continues to work well, or even gets better with future updates. We're otherwise very pleased with the vehicle.
  3. The link for the class action lawsuit is http://www.girardgibbs.com/FordFusion.asp. It does cover the 2009/2010 Escape/Mariner as well. I submitted my information today. You can submit your information directly on the web site without having to call. In my ideal world, I would like to see Ford provide a 10-year warranty on the transmission. If there's truly nothing wrong, as both Ford and their dealers claim, then they've got nothing to lose.
  4. Based on the TSB, does this sound like a problem that will eventually "fix" itself? Or, do you think it would continue until the repair suggested by the TSB is made? I have the problem, but it only seems to occur in the summer when the A/C is running a lot. If it doesn't sound like it will lead to a bigger problem in the future, and the particles blowing out will eventually go away, I may just skip this repair.
  5. Does anyone have any information relating to TSB 09-22-07? I recently noticed oil leaking in the front of my car slight off of center toward the driver's side. I took it to the dealer and they said that it was coming from the front axle. They are ordering a seal and halfshaft. They also referenced that this was reported in TSB 09-22-07. I couldn't find this TSB anywhere. Does anyone have any additional information on this TSB or issue? Text of the TSB would be very much appreciated! Thanks!
  6. As suggested here, it ended up being the blend door actuator. There was a TSB for this exact issue. The TSB also mentioned the air temperature being different on the driver and passenger sides. I was also having this problem in recent weeks. It's only been several hours since the new blend door motors were installed, but the noise is gone and the air temperature seems to be fine. Thanks to everyone for pointing me in the right direction!
  7. I'm taking it on on Monday for service. If it ends up being the blend door actuator, and it needs replaced, do you know if this is a long process? Some searches on Google turned up results in which the entire dash had to be removed. This was on a sedan, though. Is the Mariner the same way? Also, since I have the dual climate control, should both blend door actuators be replaced even if only one is causing the noise? I saw parts of the TSB referring to this, and it was for vehicles built prior to 12/2009. Mine falls in that category. If replacing one of the actuators requires removing the dash and the other is eventually going to be defective, it may be effective to have both replaced now if it's covered by the warranty. Thanks again for all of your replies!
  8. Does the 2009 Mariner have a passenger compartment air filter? If so, where is it located? I can't seem to find anything about it in the manual. Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the responses! I'll be taking my vehicle in for its 15,000 mile service shortly and will be pointing this out. I'll post back here with how it turns out.
  10. Can anyone recommend a good site for looking up (and reading the details) of Technical Service Bulletins for Ford and Mercury vehicles? I tried AllData, and was able to find results for my vehicle (a 2009 Mariner), but when I try to subscribe to their service, I can only select 2008 as the most recent model year. I'm hoping that there is an alternative out there. Thanks in advance for any replies! (Hopefully I posted this in the correct forum.)
  11. I did some tests today and found that it may be related to the A/C... On one trip, I ran the A/C as I normally do. Shortly after starting the A/C, the noise started. When I turned the A/C off, the noise continued for approximately 1 minute and then stopped. Again, the sound was similar to the sound the CD player makes when it's changing CDs and is coming from behind the passenger side dash. On a second trip, I didn't turn the A/C on at all. The noise never occurred during that trip. For what it's worth, I have the dual automatic climate control option.
  12. Over the past few months, I started noticing a sound coming from behind the passenger side dash area. The best way I can describe the noise is like a loud hard drive cranking away. Another way to describe it is that it sounds like the CD player when it's changing between discs. I've isolated that it's not the stereo, heat, or A/C, as the noise continues when those are turned off and not in use. I noticed the noise while driving or parked, as long as the engine is running. If the engine is turned off, the noise immediately stops. Has anyone else noticed this? Any thoughts as to what it may be? I'm driving a 2009 Mariner. 3.0 engine. FWD. Thanks!
  13. Has anyone noticed little particles of "dust" (not your normal dust, though) blowing from their vents when they first turn on their A/C? I have a 2009 Mariner and I noticed, on occasion, when starting the A/C, little particles of some kind of substance will blow out of the vents. I have the black interior, so it's very obvious, as it ends up on the passenger seat. Some of the particles resemble a non-shiny glitter. Others, are like little specs of a white chalk. (If I rub the particle across the seat, it actually leaves a little white, chalk-like streak). Any thoughts as to what this could be? The A/C otherwise works great and I have no problems with the car at all. I'm just curious as to what this stuff might be, where it's coming from, and if it signals some future problem. Thanks in advance for any responses!
  14. Thanks for all of the replies! I received a call from my dealer on Friday indicating that the vehicle will be here the week of November 3rd. I can't wait. :hyper:
