How GM's Ultium Electric Car Revolution Went Off The Rails
AGR replied to silvrsvt's topic in Competing Products
This place is a whole lot less interesting without him. He was a counterpoint to the half dozen or so anti-EV zealots. Without the handful of actual insiders, this forum wouldn't be worth visiting. -
Ford Has No Future If They Lose the EV Market to the Chinese
AGR replied to mackinaw's topic in E.V. Central
I never said otherwise, they obviously need a broad product portfolio. The fullsize truck segment gives them a nearly unassailable profit center that the Japanese automakers lack, save for Toyota. -
Ford Has No Future If They Lose the EV Market to the Chinese
AGR replied to mackinaw's topic in E.V. Central
If Ford and GM can eventually convert their fullsize pickup and SUV customers into EV buyers, they'll be fine. The companies that are most threatened by the Chinese are the Japanese automakers, except Toyota. The main reason Toyota isn't as threatened is that they're sitting on massive cash reserves. -
2024 Ford Edge Production Will End In Late April
AGR replied to silvrsvt's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I don't know, I'm not an expert on FRAP. But here's a few more vehicles previously made there: 2013-20 Fusion: 58.1" tall 2017 -20 Continental: 58.5" tall I do know that Mike Levine stated emphatically that the Evos would not be sold here, but we all know about Ford and plans... -
2024 Ford Edge Production Will End In Late April
AGR replied to silvrsvt's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Based on what we know about FRAP and from Fuzzy's clues, the only vehicle it could be is the new Mondeo(China)/Taurus(Middle East). Don't caught up in the $50M figure in the new CBA. The way that was worded was opened ended; the $50M is what they'll spend if only the Mustang is built there. -
Ford Discusses New Affordable EV Platform

The pictures are of the CURRENT GOLF. You know, the ICE version... ? The all electric Golf doesn't come out until 2028. -

2025 charger production design completely revealed
AGR replied to DeluxeStang's topic in Competing Products
If they were going to do a sedan, it would far easier (and thus more likely) to have the new Mondeo manufactured at Flat Rock. A Mustang sedan is close to Fantasyland at this point. -
2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Previewed; Starting Price About $30k
AGR replied to rperez817's topic in Competing Products
Nope, two different things. The Honda Prologue is going into production next year. He's wrong, like he usually is. -
The only thing it will get me to do is lump you in with the other anti-EV zealots and just scroll past your posts in the future.

No they didn't, that plant is being delayed, not canceled. Jeez, there's lots of misinformation in this thread..
-
Just to clarify, BOC and its SK battery plant are currently on schedule to open on time. It is one of the two side-by-side battery plants in KENTUCKY that is being delayed. Ford will postpone about $12 billion in EV investment (cnbc.com)

Or, maybe GM found that after Ford and Stellantis dropped their midsize sedans, they had the market to themselves and could make a profit on the Malibu. Since they're going to have at least one more generation of the ICE Malibu(rumored to be followed by an EV Malibu), that's more likely than your scenario. And that is the second time in this thread that you have stated that totally unsubstantiated speculation about the next Malibu coming from Korea, no doubt pulled from your nether regions.

What Ford concepts would you like to see revisited?

CATL will have that beat soon: New Superfast Charging EV Battery From CATL Slams The Door On Gasmobiles - CleanTechnica Fortunately, there's American companies (plus a group at Oak Ridge) that have matched CATL. Or alternatively, we could just steal CATL's IP like China has stolen ours.
-
Yeah, but only slightly dumber than another poster taking what's likely a bargaining tactic as a sign of the death of EVs.
-
I don't like all the recalls, but I am a big racing fan too. I'm looking forward to Ford's F1 return.

You weren't one of the people to whom I was referring.

To be fair to rperez817, he's merely the opposite side of the coin from the rabid anti-EV posters.

Yes, but we also CONSUME more than anyone else. At current consumption rates, I would give us about 8-10 years of energy independence if we stopped importing petroleum. I myself am really tired of buying oil from the scum of the earth that seems to control most of the world's oil supply. And before you attempt to chime in about battery materials, we have those, too. The USGS is conducting the first comprehensive survey of our mineral deposits in decades, and they have found massive deposits of lithium, nickel, and other battery minerals. (which by the way, are reuseable and recyclable unlike fuel) Drill for the present, EVs for the future.

Back on the original topic... Since our resident insider has stated that there will be an Escape EV, my uneducated take on the rest is this: For the rumors of two midsize two row CUVs, I think there will be a "normal" one called the Edge EV, and the Mach-E (II) will be the "coupe" version. The 3 row will have a new/old name and not Explorer. The Bronco Sport will have FWD and hybrid versions to cover some of the ICE Escape's range. Explorer will continue as is.
