  1. NO!! It was because there is no reason a door handle should end up in your hand and then a few weeks later, at any given moment, the chrome (plastic) peeled on the opposite door and drew blood on my wife's hand!!! And that is an on going problem with the Fusions, MXZs and Milans! The OEM handle I changed the first time on the driver's door is now starting to peel again!! Why bring it up??
  2. I feel exactly the same!! The last time I asked a question here I was made to seem ignorant by a particular poster so from now on I will just sit back and read! We have a bunch of savants on here that are no different than 8 year old girls in a school yard arguing over fake tattoos! Just my 5 cents!!!
  3. Located a 2014 version DVD Map Update at my local Ford Dealer....will try that.THANX again!
  4. OK! It must have been installed by the original owner and never was set up for GPS. It is a Ford unit, though, not and aftermarket unit. THANX!
  5. My 21 year old granddaughter purchased a beautiful 06 SEL AWD with low mileage and it has the OEM in dash sound system w/GPS. She has since joined the USAF and Jan 1st I will be driving her car with her to Idaho where she will be stationed. This is a 2600 mi. trip from New England and when I asked her if her GPS worked she said that the car was missing an install CD?? The car is since out of warranty and the dealer is of no help since it has been sold to another company. Have you heard of such a CD and can it be acquired from Ford Parts? She told me she never realized the car had GPS and now at the 11th hour this has to be looked into. HELP???
  6. At the first of the month, my wife and I took a trip to Vegas to visit our son and his family. Our rental car at Budget was supposed to be a Chrysler product but I asked if I could switch to Ford to which they obliged cheerfully. They showed us out to a brand new Fusion which is the twin to yours. What an awesome car. The only big difference was probably the engine which was the standard non EB 4 cyl. Other than wanting a bit on power (compared to my 3.0 Milan) this car gave us a solid 24,5 MPG around town and a bit of highway. We loved this car and the room in the trunk. Good luck as I think you made a wise choice! We got stares and compliments where ever we went.
  7. I reported the exact same problem with my 09 Milan a month or so ago. I did it in the Fusion section as they don't have one for Milan anymore! Some sarcastic SOB more or less told me to "suck it up" because I had plans to go to the NTSB with this! BOTH front handles pealed and drew blood within a month of each other. The dealer told me no dice on a TSB as I was out of warranty at 40K miles. Now I am hit with another Milan, Fusion, MKZ problem that is pretty well known with the sunroof problems. No TSB and $1300 for repairs!! To hell with it! If I want open air riding, I'll just drop the top on my dependable 2000 Mustang GT!
  8. SERIOUSLY!!! Ford doesn't seem to care! But I do!!! So you think that is normal?? Those door handles have been a problem and a complaint since 2006 from what I could dig up!
  9. I know that this is a Fusion/ MKZ forum but my problem involves the Milan as they all seem to have the same problem. During the summer of 2013, the chrome on the left front inside door handle peeled up and was as sharp as a knife especially when you were not expecting to be cut. This happened on the mold line that leaves a crease when the plastic part comes out of the mold. The chrome plating peels straight up and that is where your thumb comes in contact with the handle. I had all intentions of going to my dealer with this but after a few days the plastic gear behind the handle broke leaving the door lock inoperable. I purchased an OEM handle which I replaced on my own. Last month in March, don't you know, the same thing happened to the front right side handle. The only thing is this time it drew blood from me, sliced my thumb on my right hand as I was riding shotgun. NO HELP FROM THE DEALER!!! Should I contact the feds at the NHSA with this since this is definitely a safety issue. Using a door handle in your car should NOT draw blood like a razor blade! We love our car but this is not right especially the reaction from my dealer. This car only has 43K miles on it and is still practically new. I kept the 2nd handle as proof of what happens. These things are about $50 each. Your thoughts if anyone else has experienced this and how did you resolve this?
  10. I only wish it had a bit more "hockey stick" on the sides.....other than that, I love it!
  11. My wife has an 09 Milan Premier with 36, 000mi. A few weeks ago she complained about the exact same thing only the sharp edge is on the inside edge of the handle. It cannot be seen like yours but it sure can be felt. I found and ordered an oem replacement handle on eBay and should be getting it anyday. HMM! I wonder if there is a pattern starting with these. The Milan and the Fusion both have the exact same handle! Should Ford be contacted on this issue?
  12. Where would there be any savings when diesel fuel is 30% more than gasoline? Plus diesel engines are more expensive to produce, aren't they? I'll stay with my gas burners...much much cheaper to maintain and the new Ecoboost motors seem to have about the same efficiency. Spilled a few drops of diesel fuel on my pants the other day while refueling my rig and that stench followed me for a hundred miles. Can you imagine your wife or girlfreind doing the same while on her way to work? Just saying!!
  13. GE in Painville, Ct has a similar center that is at least twice the size as this one, but with never more than half a dozen Volts lined up at a time. The other slots are usually taken up by "normal" cars or Prii! What a waste of money that was!
