Not sure if you misunderstood your cousin or not but the 6F35 wasn't used in the Fusion till the 2010MY which was a midyear release in the summer of 2009.

Yes, the clutch is electric but since your engine is going to be OFF there's no way for the clutch to engage. You can actually disable the 4WD rearend clutch by pulling the fuse marked for "4WD Module", I believe it's F11 IIRC. The only catch is that the "wrench" dash icon will light up and therefore hide or mask any other problems that may come up. You can gain a little MPG this way.

If your going to use a dolley, it wouldn't matter if the driveshaft is removed or not. You could remove it but what's your reason for doing so? Under normal operation the driveshaft always powered or rotates and there is a electric clutch in the rearend. The '09 Escape is advertised as flat towable but many have burned up transmissions doing so. There is a procedure change for this, one part is to reduce the ATF level.

Might be a smaller cargo area because is has a smaller GVW. The current Escape's load capacity is >#1000.

A 2013MY Kuga it may be but it's nolonger a Escape as they aren't equal. Would a Escape replace an Explorer??

Yeah, it'll save money if it sells. look at the new Expliorer, did they lower the engiine size? Is it less of a 4WD than it was before? If this the way they go, the Escape like vehicle is being dropped from the lineup.

Not if they are smart. Is it a replacement for a V6 Escape? No way! I'm not convinced this is the future look of the Escape. The literature I receive from Ford has never stated this, although I read posts in forums about this. Why would Ford replace a good seller?

That could have something to do with the fact that the EcoBoost is normally paired with a beefer transaxle. The Escape uses the 6F35 and the Taurus uses the 6F50 with the bigger V6. I'm not too familiar with the EcoBoost engine lineup but the largest transaxle or the 6F55 is used in the EcoBoost powered Taurus SHO which is AWD. There might be a size limiting factor for the Escape for now.

The 6F35 was first introduced in the '09 Escape with problems and still has the same problems today! This 6-speed transaxle's R&D was a joint venture between Ford and GM, yet the GM version doesn't have these problems as far as I know.

The two magazines that I get directly from Ford have had articles about the Vertrek and neither state that they are replacing the Escape with it.

I have seen posts before asking about the 5 digit code but some said it was a sticker on the PATS module which is under the bottom cover of the steering colume. Nobody has ever posted that it was found there though or any other place. The dealer can retrieve the code with their IDS(computer).

Get much snow in San Francisco or Jupiter, FL?? Depends where you live or where you go if 4WD is worth the extra money or loss of MPG.
