  1. And that Ford built the Texas plant that makes Toyota Tundras
  2. Fellas...it is nothing scientific, it is just the opinion of two part time patrol cops about their likes and dislikes...I knew the Panther Mafia would come riding in to defend their queen....but sadly, she is dying, and nothing we can do here will ever save it. Lets look at the current crop of vehicles that are used as police cars and find something in the current lineup that will surpass it....from North America...the only thing I see other than Taurus, is Explorer (but it is dying too) and Expedition....
  3. ..at least not his Bible anyways.... What?!?!...politeness on a web blog?? Say it isn't so....
  4. I honestly don't know anymore....while I am an avowed Ford Fan...it is disheartening for me to sit and watch Crown Victoria languish due to neglect...but the fact remains...Crown Victoria has not seen a significant upgrade and Ford has made it very clear that it will indeed die in the very near future. I wonder if Global Rear Wheel Drive is the answer after all....can Taurus (D3) handle the stress of police/livery/taxi duty? Does Ford want it to? To paraphrase President Reagan.... If not Panther...who...If not now...when?
  5. Already asked....they both wanted to be in a safe car.....unibody or full frame is not a valid point...Volvos are amongst the safest vehicles in the world...and yet, I have yet to see a "full frame" Volvo....build a safe car and people will buy it...Ford is proving that daily with C170, CD3, D3 as well as Panther.
  6. The 5 cylinder from Volvo may just be the ticket for F150...after it got the Ecoboost treatment
  7. Was talking to two of my co-workers today who are also part time police officers for departments in two rural districts here in Central NY. Both agreed that overall, the Impala is the car of choice for police duty in these northern climates. Roomy, front drive works great in traction challenged areas, they are reasonable on fuel consumption, and they are comfortable for long stints behind the wheel. I asked what they thought of Crown Victoria, while both agreed it was a solid performer, they both also agreed that it was an archaic throwback to a bygone era (that bummed me out...I am a Ford fan) And while both liked the performance of the Charger with a Hemi, they also agreed that it was a pig on fuel and cost their respective departments a lot more in fuel than either the Crown Victoria and esp the Impala..... Ouch....
  8. My 2006 is in Silver Frost....basically todays Brilliant Sliver....love the look. Great looking ride there guy
  9. What are you guys.....Popular Science magazine or what?? Sounds like something they would say
  10. While I agree that Ford could have exploited Volvo more for the benefit of both Ford and Volvo, it is time to cut the cord so to speak...I had wished Ford would have brought some Volvo production to North America, they certainly have the capacity...they didn't, and the Volvo brand has been left to lanquish in hopes a new suitor will come in and inject fresh capital in needs to develop future products. Maybe Ford will retain a minority share position to be able to tap into the brand yet again?
  11. Have no fear...Bob Lutz will announce a new platform any day now.....ooops, never mind, the plan has already changed
  12. What a waste...everyone knows that the market is dying for a luxury "B" market car....introducing the (drum roll please) Cadillac Cimarron :hysterical: :hysterical:
  13. If for some reason, Fritz and the "new GM" crew finally comes up with a viable plan to import the Holden as a Chevy...they should just call it Chevrolet Commodore....leave Caprice in the history books.
  14. I would like to see them make that limo into something with say...hydraulic launch assist and clean diesel power...and promote it while it is around.... :stats:
  15. Which leaves me wondering if there is a future for Mercury after all....I understand the Ford families reluctance in retiring the Mercury division since it was created from scratch by Edsel Ford himself...but to sit by and watch it wither is truly saddening.
  16. GM had too many brands because of how they managed GM.... Can't fight the imports with what you got? Create a "new" division....soon, that division will be discontinued... Can't fight the near luxury market with an existing division? Kill it off but don't bother to work on the other divisions to pick up the customers that felt betrayed.. Can't pay your debt load and want to file bankruptcy? Drop four divisions and continue on your merry drunken path of destruction after you get a boat load of cash from the US government and burn all your shareholders in record time in bankruptcy court... Can't find your market after your trip through bankruptcy court? Roll out a re-badged RWD sedan from a discontinued division...then retract that statement days later... The dance goes on at "new GM"......
  17. I hope it doesn't inspire a Bronco with that kind of GVW Plus...the article is quite old....2006 time frame
  18. That is a sad epitaph for the entire American Auto industry....
  19. If I were a true blue Pontiac fan...I would head upmarket to Buick....
