Looks like the rear axl of my 2011 Mustang. I would say it is normal and nothing to be concerned about. It is not sheet metal. That spindle (like my axl) will likely out live the vehicle.

Start with LCA relocation brackets and LCAs. If the hop still persists the next step is an UCA.

I think an Ecoboosted four cylinder would broaden the appeal of the Mustang. That being said, there must be a V8 option, and the new Mustang must be rear wheel drive.
