    news coming....

Way to beat your chest. “Obnoxiously sluggish”...interesting. So you are the guy in the electric car that acts like it’s the Indy 500. Your vision of the future with BEVs may happen but I highly doubt in the time frame you think it will. Add another 20 years. And while you’re at it ban straws too
  2. Everything in Chicago and Illinois is corrupt. And yes, a lot of mafia ties....not kidding.
  3. Honestly, if Ford/UAW can't get it under control just close the plant. I don't want them to do that but if it can't get with the program then do it. As a stockholder and a Ford supporter, results matter.
  4. I don't think one review, of material and tuning preferences is anything related to and engineering or design flaw. Engineering flaw example, DCT's. Material usage is not that. Suspension tuning/smoothness is a preference
  5. From my extremely limited experience with the union reps, they play favorites. We've seen that these positions (union reps) aren't impervious corruption and poor decision making. Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done once these folks are elected. It's like hitting the lottery for these folks that get in these positions. Again, this is just my experience in a stamping plant that no longer exists (in it's stamping form). And yes, there was a lot of bullying/racism, and unacceptable behavior that got overlooked.
  6. What flaws are these? I keep hearing manufacturing issues, nothing suggesting that that there was an inherent engineering/design issue.
  7. I keep reading about how awful the Chicago plant is, as far as racism, bullying, people not doing their jobs (aka quality issues) and lack of management leadership. By all accounts, the Explorer/Aviator launch has been an absolute failure. How much of that falls on Chicago vs Ford's generally poor launch woes? How does Ford correct these systemic issues?
  8. My point is, how do you know how much margin they have in these vehicles? It seems like they are taking Nissan approach to price/volume, which is risky. JD Power initially quality is kind of useless. I'd be more interested in how many Kia/Hyundai's are on the road after 10 years. If you think they are great value and good quality, then by all means buy one. They can have every option as a much more premium car but how do they get the price so low. Some from labor, some from SK government, and some from poor engineering? I don't mind people having a different opinion of these two utes, but I think they have been grossly over-hyped as the luxury SUV's that undercut the non lux crowd. I don't think their powertrain/FE is anything to write home about. Yet, that has been glossed over as, a cheap price and nice interior seems to be the winning factor in the media's eyes. I doubt a couple thousand dollars is really going to stop someone from getting a limited vs XLT. Maybe it will to the subprime thousand aires? We shall see what the consumers think and how it all plays out.
  9. All I can go buy is past KIA warranty as I haven’t looked at their current standard. Having to replace a timing belt at 60 seems unreasonable. Many other things do as well. Just remember, nothing is for free.
  10. And you know profit margin because...????
  11. That 100k warranty is only if you follow their ridiculous maintenance schedule. Not sure if it has to been done by a dealer or authorized shop.
  12. My only problem with the Car and Driver comparo is that that the was 49k. At that point why not use a base Explorer Limited? Fully loaded Koreans or XLT Explorer just seems at little off. Also, why wasn't a Honda or Toyota in here? It just seems the Korean twins have the price beat on everything.

    Fusion styled crossover?

    Ok. That makes sense. Thanks!

    Fusion styled crossover?

So this our Taurus X replacement? Is it roughly the same size or smaller? It's hard to tell.

Unknown Mule (most likely NG Edge)

Sorry to hear about your squeaks and rattles. My 2017 does not. Only had 2 issues with mine one super minor the other one not. Both were take care of under warranty. 1. Sunglass holder wouldn’t stay shut. 2. PTU leak A coworker I know had a KIA that required timing belt changed around 50k. She didn’t know this as she didn’t read the manual. Her warranty claim got denied after she had an engine issue a blown engine at 65k. If you have squeaks and rattles and it bothers you, take it in. Take a video with your phone while it’s happening. It’s kinda pain I know but a good dealership will usually be able to find the issue. It’s up to you to use or lose that warranty.

  17. My father who is 75 is a Ford retiree. He wants to get rid of his Flex soon and lease a vehicle. His thing is that he doesn't want to have to worry about anything more than routine maintenance on his cars now that he's getting older. I told him I would look into his options with his current Flex and into leasing. I have no experience with leases so how does that work for Z plan eligible folks?

How would you categorize abnormal wear and tear, creaks rattles? I have anecdotal evidence from friends and what I read but it mostly falls in that category. Recently car and driver had a Stinger that was constantly needing work. Have they gotten better? Sure. Would I want one for the long haul? Probably not. They have cheap labor costs but where else do you think that low price comes from? Long term to me means > 5 years more than 100k.

    news coming....

I don't know if anyone here would be parading a car made in a tent. Yet somehow Elon can and his followers (you) eat it up.

What's the biggest gripe? Price, interior, or option packaging? I have yet to drive one or even sit in one so I have no personal experience. Seems competitively priced with Toyota and Honda. Comparing it to a KIA or Hyundai, it's always going to be more expensive. The long term reliability in Koreans is lacking, IMHO.

Ford Leasing for Z Plan Eligible

Akirby, I think I see your point. Are you saying paying up front is a sunken cost? If accident/flood/stolen etc, Ford would get reimbursed, not the person leasing the car. Do I have that correct?

Ford Leasing for Z Plan Eligible

I was more trying to understand what type of discounts you get in a lease? I get the PIN procedure. I've bought cars but never leased so I am assuming you get a much better lease rate than Joe Public. Is that correct?
  23. Freep The Freep really has it in for Ford right now. BTW, Glencoe is a very rich north shore town. Very rich folk that demand perfection or complain.

    Corsair first drive reviews

My bad .....I got mixed up there on the stats. Disregard my statement.

    Corsair first drive reviews

My take is mags are fawning overing Telluride and Palisade because of 2 things. The upscale looks both interior and exterior and the low price. The only engine is nothing special at all. Ford has 4 flavors of engines. It's base engine is better than the Kia/Hyundia. Another thing to note, the Korean twins both are Traverse sized. It's like they are a half size bigger than Explorer and half size smaller than Expedition. On topic, is there any restriction on the suspension upgrade on the Corsair? If I got one, I would probably want that. I just may not want to go up to the 2.3.
