  1. Can anyone tell me if the F250 Super Duty Lariat comes with 110 volt plugs and inverter?
  2. Yes, me too and thank you. I've always found that people who have differing opinions can only hear each other when they begin to listen to each other, accepting the other individual as as valuable a contributor to the interchange as he or she is. In my business, I always look forward with great anticipation to the "pitch" so to speak. I always want "their" best and brightest in the room to hit me with the hardest questions they can muster. If their issues have merit, I get the opportunity to see something I missed in the first go-round and fix it making the product better. If their issue is baseless, I have the opportunity to defend it and through that defense know my product even better than when I arrived for having the opportunity to defend it. Either way, I appreciate the individual who, for whatever reason, raises questions and I believe he appreciates me more for appreciating him or her. Kind of simple once you accept that "pride of authorship" can be as detrimental as it is necessary.
  3. Hey-= I'm still smoldering over Lincoln-Mercury's decision to quit the "Mark" line and no, the MKX isn't a "Mark" line. I mean one of the most beautiful sport coupes made, the Collector's Edition Mark VIII. Leased a 97 and when I heard they were going to me no more, bought #0880 to keep. "The sport coupe market" was dying they said. I don't know, I just know I love dat car... or I mean work of art. But the company can't survive on my 2 trucks and Mark VIII!!
  4. Great and thanks. I can't recall what I was going to send you a shot of but I'll remember it. In the mean time, let's try your solution with one of the truck they're "considering our offer on' right now. In the mean time, is this the appropriate forum to carry on our conversations in or is there another one. Don't want to run afoul of the "Forum Feds" although these moderators, and I have no idea of they even monitor this site or this forum, seem pretty nice just to let us discuss what we think should be on an F250. Got some great news I'd like to share with you and the other people I met through here but I don't want to clog up the wrong forum with chit chat. My wife's the beautiful expert on all thing Internet/Forum. I'm just the slug who got lucky enough to marry her and tag along. Also, I forgot and was mistaken. My father's car was a 1973 Mark IV, opera windows and all. Lincoln sure knew how to make luxury.
  5. Oh, you had THE cars or pretty close anyway. My father had a brand new Lincoln Mk III, chocolate brown that just glistened with the factory metal flake in it and rich, dark, brown leather seats; still one of the most beautiful cars made. I had a Mark VII and VIII, the last one one of the Collector Series, metal flake pearl white with the two tone grey leather interior; another most beautiful car made. They sure knew how to do things "Fifth Avenue" as we used to say. Guess we still do. The trucks are the same way. I'll send along a pic of the interior of the one we're figuring on. You just can't beat it for style and class. Now, if they'd just go with Hermann Oak leather as an option and go back to a great sounding sound system, well, I'd buy one anyway. I just can't help but think, and here I go sounding like a Hermann Oak salesman which I assure you I'M NOT!!!, having a Hermann Oak two tone option in the KR say would have alot of upper hill cowboys, ranchers, mid-westerners and even Wall Streeters that dress like us working horse people on weekends writing out the checks for the option. I know I would. I'm trying to talk my wife into two-tone brown and black, almost like Jeep's if we get the new truck. I think it would look great in the cab that's now straight black leather and wood grain. And my old Mark VIII wood and leather steering wheel!!! I think I'm in the wrong business. Maybe I should be a car designer! Hey, how do I attach a small photo from my hard drive here anyway?
  6. deanh was right in his concern relative to whether or not I was just a crackpot, lunatic or nay-sayer stirring up trouble. Some of the things people complain about or want are fairly ridiculous. Personally, I'd love the ability to just use the 6th wire in the rear electrical gangbox that's dead on delivery because the tailgate camera and power are only using up the other 5. Number 6 could be used for a second camera for a trailer or such. Makes more sense than fart fans! Or maybe not!
  7. Are we sure that was a sweat stain??? You know, honestly, when we were buying our Mercedes a few years ago there was a dealer who joked about an "odor fan" located in the bottom of the seat to, shall we say, suck up the additional air released by passengers in the vicinity if the seat cushion ;-) (delicately put!!!) and filtering it so it didn't bother the other passengers. Sure enough, a year or so ago I found that Mercedes did in fact offer this, in conjunction of course with the 'heated/cooled seat". Passing reference was given the bonus functionality in the manual.
  8. yeah, that's the way it always is. People think because cows wear it without a bottle of conditioner, we must be able to too. Live cows have an internal oil pump that keeps their hide supple and durable!!! OK, sounds silly but its true. Our saddles, even at $4k or $5k a piece, would turn to dust without care and they're built for abuse so thinly cut leather seats in trucks, well, you get the picture. I can't tell you how many posts I read from people who actually complained that they had to condition their KR seats as if KR leather should somehow be impervious to wear and tear because they paid a high dollar for the package. Don't know what a KR interior adds to the price point of a Ford but I can assure you its far less that a $5000 Chavez cutting saddle and we have to clean and condition the heck out of our saddles.
  9. We've about decided that the Ford is the truck for us even with all of its drawbacks which are, admittedly few and mostly not of Ford's making; i.e the emissions standards and the like. It'll be not a daily driver per se but I'll be in it alot so I want the interior as nice as possible. That's where the Ford really outshines the competition. Like the 06,07 Dodge 5.7 in power and fuel economy, the Ford is the tops in "luxury appointments" inside. Dodge is having mo0re than its share of problems with the new Lariat and, to be honest, the interior that apparently tried to copy the KR is just truly horrible in quality of product and workmanship. We have a quote of $1800 to re-upholster the interior in Hermann Oak leather which includes the seating surfaces and sides. Only the seat backs are lesser-grade leather but leather nonetheless and Hermann Oak is the best leather in the durability and looks department out there. Alot of our saddles and tack is Hermann Oak so its pretty good stuff. It's not the glove-soft Rolls Royce/Bentley stuff but we want tough not soft. We'll be throwing saddles and all the other usual horse junk inside so the more scratch resistant it is the better. And we'll be maintaining it like we do out saddles and tack anyway so it'll get both the work out we need it to stand up to and the care it deserves. I know I sound like a commercial for Hermann Oak or some type of leather expert but I'm not. I just know what kind of a pounding our horse tack takes and comes out beautiful after 20 years with maintenance so I though I'd pass my experience along. Anyway, people are yanking the 2011 sound system out and replacing it with $2-3k systems that are at least as good as the systems that came stock in the '08 F250 so we figure the leather seats at $1800 is for us.
  10. Wouldn't doubt it. After the laughter dies down, it's actually a pretty good idea but I would think aftermarket. But, perhaps that's why I don't design trucks!!! As for the 'pleather", we're all over "the Boards" in research as to which truck to buy and listening to the comments of owners, separating the wheat from the chaffe so to speak, figuring out for ourselves what's a real concern and what's just some yahoo's rant about hi s seats being inferior because he had a wood chisel in his back pocket, got in his new truck and the seat ripped type of thing. Of course, had the seats not ripped but the chisel bent, he'd be all over faultychisels.com so... Some of the comments are good, some are bad but some are repetitive on a single theme like thjer leather/pleather debate containing references to people whose seats were showing severe wear after just a few months. Leather/ pleather debate, leather 'inserts" and the quality of the leather used were all topics. Powerstroke.com, powerstroke.org... the usual.
  11. Also, since Deanh seems to know this company pretty well, maybe you can answer a question for me. Is it true that the Lariat has pleather seats or inferior grade leather on the seats? Geeze I hope not.
  12. Looks like "avoid the Fiat" advice was good advice. Ford just dropped the package from their 2012 F250 lineup according to their June product lineup schedule. That and owners will justl have to keep track of their tools on their own with no more Tool Link available!!! Good call.
  13. How about the "Shelbys" company that'd add a custom modification that includes carefully reducing the angle of the bed gate from precisely zero to an exact and full 90 degrees being careful to certify that the exact measurements between the bed walls and the floor are equidistant from front to rear assuring no paralax from base to apex, quadrilateral university and equality along the length of the container and volume continuity and then inserting, ever so carefully, A '65 SHELBY COBRA to fill the void created!!! I'm no engineer but THAT's a Shelby mod I could really live with. And I wouldn't need a second camera because I couldn't take my eyes off it anyway!
  14. Just saw your last post. You definitely sell more than I do. I'm just a buyer!
  15. Ah ha!!! Al and Ed's stereo in California just successfully did what I was talking about. the problem is opening the systems case to get to the motherboard to add an input jack and a software re config to switch between the now 2 screens completely voids any warranty. AArgh! But it can be done and they said the same thing Galpin said yesterday; "Don't be surprised if you see it as a standard config on truck systems in the next couple of years,. Problem is cars don't really need the capability but trucks, because they haul alot of trailers with cargo drivers want to keep an eye on while driving, especially horses, will use the heck out of it. So, there we go.
  16. Earlier today I was so busy working and responding to this forum that I didn't have a chance to make up a scorecard. I just did and I think some people need to thanked. Others, maybe not so much. Kev-Mo, Timmm55, Richard Jennsen and F250...great help and conversation. Deanh... wrong foot. Maybe if we traded sneakers and walked around for about an hour, we'd understand each other better. Thanks for extending the first olive branch. I accept. I expect to be on this board for a long time because I'm buying that truck if for no other reason than we're just a Ford Family. Would have been pretty easy to send us over to the dark side earlier by the comments going back and forth but the fact is, Ford is still the most reliable truck out there and the best looking one as well. And I'll be here on the Board after the sale for the same reason I hang out at SpineHealth.com... answering questions from people who are looking down the double barrels of surgery scared to death not knowing what to expect because their doctors will only say "Don't wrorry. I'm a doctor." People who come here, like they do on my cancer site with Angel Flight, my cerebral palsy site with Make a Wish and Spine Health all are looking for reliable information and from what I can tell, you all qualify as caring. So stop lobbing dirtbags at me from over a fence where I can't see you and I'll post all my experiencecs andhelp people like me who just want some help fro here. If that's OK with you Mr. Moderator.
  17. Also, that's too bad about not making anything on a $68k truck. I guess I just don't get the car business. $68k's alot to me. I mean, what do they expect? How much more expensive can a pickup truck be. I honestly though I'd about reached, to steal an alalogy again, pretty close to the Maybach of pickup trucks. I didn't want to exceed 10k by getting a 350 or 450 that would put me in the commercial range. I mean, how much higher can you go in the 3/4 ton pickup truck sales business. My wife and I paid more for her new ML350 and the Mercedes people treated us 1000 times better than Ford did and you can go ALOT higher on a Mercedes. But even though we weren't buying a top of the line AMG SL, they answered all our questions, knew everything about their cars and didn't over sell but were just there while we were mussing over what we would get. I don't know; maybe its the difference in Mercedes salespersons and Ford. Buy a top of the line $68k truck and get dusted off by 7 out of 8 dealers. Buy a midline $75k ML from Mercedes and get treated like you're buying a $200k top of the like Mercedes. I don't know.Tired of screwing with it.
  18. I had and they're the only ones so far that have gotten back to me. Of course, they're the only ones who said they WOULD get back to me!!!
  19. I just spoke with Galpin. Seems they have had "more than a few" requests for the dual monitor function but Ford doesn't offer it yet. It is, however, on their "to do list" because the horse target market is most interested in it and we're "a Huge market". Nothing like numbers to get a company to listen. So, not for now but in the future as I understand it. Thanks for the iPad heads up. I'll look at it.
  20. OH, yeah; THAT's what I need. Have you ever seen a "pimped out" horse??? OK, Just kidding. I guess that's where I'll ask next. I fighure you're talking about Galpin and they've always been GREAT. I'm just really am a big believer in "The Factory" when it comes to a $68k truck or our Mercedes and things like that. My Harley DWFXD is a dream come true for the aftermarket shops and they all did a GREAT job on various parts with 6 magazine covers under its belt and I know the scales tip way the other way when it comes to the factory v. performance shop debate and alot of the time I'm on that end of the scales but with this truck, I want to saddle up and ride and when something does go wrong, I want every bit of that 100k warranty in my hip pocket. None of that, "Well, it's not a factory mod and that voids your warranty. I grew up on '69 Chevelles and Camaros when you could bop down to the Van Nuys Speed Shop, buy some Hooker headers and and 850 double-pumper, get a pair of some 202FI heads from Pink's Performance off Sepulveda and Saticoy and, as Darryl Waltrip says, "Have at it boys!". But the vehicles today are NASA-designed/Ford-built so if there was a way to have the factory install a flip-flop monitor sequence, I'd go that way first. But I guess not. However, I'd think there's a HUGE market for a dual display where you could just plug in a second video source and switch between cameras; the standard rear view monitor and a horse or even car or boat trailer camera. For me at least, it'd really tip the sales possibility in Ford's favor. Most, or maybe not most but alot of people who buy trucks, buy them for towing and auxiliary cameras are a big thing with us. We like to see what's going on back there with, in our case, the horses and not having to have a second, aftermarket monitor cluttering up a great looking interior, for us at least, would be a huge benefit.
  21. Hah!!! "Think Fiat". THAT'S all that needs to be said. That's a hoot! OK, Sync it is then. You know, I have the darndest time getting comfortable flying an all-glass cockpit for that exact reason. The blue screens of death. At least on the ground you can pull over. Up there in IMC (think fog where you can't see the end of your hood), it's more than a little nerve-racking. We have backups of course but it's just not the same as pre-2000 aircraft that had electric gauges and vacuum redundancy. I think like you, I'm just an old codger...at 53. Who'da thought!?!?
  22. Apology accepted AND APPRECIATED!!! As I said, I wasn't asking about aftermarket anything; only if it had expandable capabilities like a port in the glovebox or under the dash. But, seeing first hand how "salespeople' mask their identities when populating forums just to sell or push something, well, I can understand your reaction. I fly children with cancer to hospitals they otherwise couldn't afford to get to and families with children with cerebral palsy who just want to go for a ride before they die and I had a 4-level spine fusion and now frequent Spine-Health chatrooms and forums just to talk about my experiences from the table looking up so people looking at surgery have the perspective of someone other than a doctor or medical device salesman and IT UNNERVES ME no end when I find someone posing as a patient or sufferer on the Boards trying to push their product or denigrate someone else's just because they see a sales market. So i completely understand your reaction. I didn't look at it that way but I really just didf want to know if there was a port somewhere. I mean, I need that more than I need to know if all my RFD-tagged tools are back in my truckbox...although that might come in handy with some surgeons I know who can't seem to keep track of their hemostats and other implements! ;-) Anyway, as I said, apology accepted and appreciated. if you are a Ford dealer for 25-years, you've really got a great product there. I think I'll stay away from the computer for now though.
