  1. Build and price won't allow 3.55 with FX4 on a diesel. If you try to add it, it forces removal of FX4.
  2. Every Mach-e that I have seen in inventory on a dealer lot is a standard range model. I suspect there are not many people wanting standard range models.
  3. I am also adverse to buying a Nautilus built in China. I would have preferred a Nautilus BEV built in NA. Mildly disappointed in the powertrain option, would have like to see a 2.7 or a bit more power from the hybrid or even a PHEV version. Might change my mind when the first few hit the dealer and I can look.
  4. KOA in Denver "The 50,000 Watt Blowtorch" was similar, you could pick it up a long ways away (to the east) on a good night. Coincidently, AM is also the same frequency band that ADF's in airplanes use. A lot of older airplanes still have ADF antenna's and you can tune in an AM station to listen too while flying and get a bearing at the same time.
  5. The 85 Tempo Coupe I had as a 16 year old looked better.
  6. Only if it has a payload capacity of greater than 2000 lbs. Unfortunately the law was probably written back when a 1-ton only had a 2000 lb payload and not today's 4000 lb payload.
  7. This! The main reason for separating out EV's from ICE and commercial is the significant investment required for EV. Made the whole company look bad together, but when split out investors can see 10% operating margins in other parts of the business and can weigh the EV margins more in line with pure EV companies.
  8. That is insane, they are asking $105k for a Lariat. Even worse is it stickers a $94k. They have $11,000 in ADM ?
  9. Electrostatic painting is often used in order to reduce waste and get better coverage, probably not a good idea to do that with a high voltage battery installed.
  10. The e-cvt is not a traditional cvt. It is basically a fixed gear reduction drive with an electric motor mounted to it. The output ratio is varied by how much input or retard is applied to that same gearset thus changing the effective final output ratio from the ICE engine.
  11. Roman and Nathan are getting up there now and tend to have a few more slipups on average when doing the 1 take and live videos.
  12. 1947 or 48 8-N was what I learned on. Was the only tractor on my grandfather's ranch. After he passed, it eventually was stolen because of the remote location and nobody living on the property. But now my dad has acquired 20 ford tractors from the late 40's to the 50's including a couple Jubilees, an 801, a 901, 2 Awesome Henry V8 conversions, and the rest are all 8-N's. Don't think he has any 9-N's.
  13. Technical answer here: Payload is GVWR - Curb weight. GVWR is the maximum vehicle weight that the vehicle is designed and tested to for DOT purposes. Often in order to achieve that GVWR, it requires axle ratings that when combined are greater than the GVWR. This is so that the vehicle can accommodate a multitude of loading configurations from full pax and minimal payload in the bed, to driver only with a max bumper pull trailer on the back and the bed loaded with the rest of the weight. In both these scenarios, the total weight of the truck can be exactly the same, but the individual axle weights would be quite different.

  15. Deming went to Japan in the 50's because they were willing to listen, when American manufacturers were not. They had the motivation to improve because their industrial base was devastated. I don't think the Korean companies have ever been invested in lean principles like the Japanese companies have been. But quality escapes do happen and can be major mistakes despite quality systems. The problems come when you fail to correct those mistakes (i.e. the Hyundai / KIA engine issues). Second point is that JIT manufacturing is not the same as lean. JIT is a supply chain model, lean is a manufacturing principal to minimize waste and inefficiency. So you don't necessarily have to follow a complete JIT supply process to be lean, and just because you are JIT doesn't mean you are lean. Kaizen is an improvement event. Kaizen is not a process or principal, it is just an event where processes are looked at and improved by everyone involved. Kaizen is used as part of lean.
  16. Looks like there is a $40 difference in the base price (website is higher) and your web build didn't include the CHMSL Camera removal and the Auto Stop Start removals, otherwise they look the same. 301A is the mid package.
  17. Certain dealers have been known to feign ignorance on price protection. Getting the current plan price on the DORA is one way to protect yourself and help keep a dealer honest. Also getting the plan pricing DORA allows you to sign and make the dealer sign a buy order stating that will be the price at delivery.
  18. Is that with dealer markup, because build and price, fully loaded is in the mid to high 80's depending on accessories and the rear seat entertainment.
  19. https://performance.ford.com/series/formula-1/news/articles/f1/2023/02/ford-returns-to-formula-1.html So reading this it sounds like because of the engine rules changes for 2026, Ford and Red Bull will co-develop an all new engine package for the 2026 season that will run on sustainable racing fuel. Still 1000 Hp, but now 470 from the electric motor and 530 from the ICE. Also eliminating the electric motor connected to the turbos. https://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/f1s-2026-engine-rules-are-here-quieter-laggier-and-less-ice-power
  20. Nope, definitely part of the car. It just looks awkward because the bottom sill is black and then you have a bit of body color peaking out from under the black plastic wrap. https://fordauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Mysterious-Ford-or-Lincoln-Mockup-Spy-Shots-February-2023-Exterior-002-1024x683.jpg
  21. Whatever they show this year needs to be available for sale in 2024. The problem Ford has had is introducing vehicles and then having it take 2 to 3 years for it to actually hit the showroom floor. I don't understand why they don't already have a Mach-e derived BEV for Lincoln. The incremental volume wouldn't be that great and would easily earn more than each Mach-e sale.
  22. Think of F1 as a engine R&D center for developing the next generation of motors.
  23. What does the electric source have to do with MPGe? Nothing. The MPGe is purely a conversion of the amount of kWh in an equivalent gallon of gasoline. There are 33.7 kWh in a gallon of gasoline, so 120 MPGe equals 3.56 m/kWh. The Lightning Platinum has a combined MPGe of 66, which is 1.96 m/kWh. The source of the electricity or the gasoline has no impact on the efficiency ratings. And if you are going to consider the greenhouse gas emissions from generating said electricity, you also need to consider the emissions of creating gasoline. All in all, if you look at the data and research, BEVs generate less emissions over the entire process than ICE vehicles, from production to driving. That accounts for the total mix of electrical generation in the US and the actual production of the vehicles including batteries.
  24. One consideration is that as more PHEVs enter the market, the more likely they are to be bought by people that don't know how a PHEV is supposed to work, or by people that don't have access to charging infrastructure at home or work. They are just buying a vehicle because they need transportation and the window sticker MPG is high. So it isn't surprising to me that real world use of PHEVs is trending to be more like pure ICE vehicles. When PHEVs first came out they were limited supply on few models, so only those that really wanted one, and thus knew how to maximize their benefits from it, were buying them. Now not so much.
  25. The dealer in my home town had their Lincoln franchise pulled. Small town, rural farming community, didn't warrant spending $$$ on a standalone building when they have Ford, Chrysler, Jeep, and Ram all in one building. They also have no interest in EV's. I doubt they have the local infrastructure to handle DC fast chargers. Nearest one is 30 miles away.
