I’ve had the weathertech cargo liner in 2 vehicles and it’s fantastic. I would be wary of a cheaper version.
Thanks for your input!

I am trying to decide between a Weather Tech cargo trunk liner ($115 plus shipping) or a popular TN Trunk Net cargo liner on Amazon ($60). I couldn't find any difference, other than price! I would appreciate any comments with those who have purchased cargo liners for the new redesigned Escape ! Thanks!

Anyone know the average cost to replace a 2014 Ford Fusion Transmission? The car has close to 170,000 miles, but now needs a transmission. It's at a local repair shop, since it's inoperable. I read that year Fusion has numerous Transmission failures. The mechanic said he is looking for a replacement but it could cost in the $4000 range. My daughter needs the car fixed, but I'm trying to research the difference between "remanufactured or rebuilt transmissions!"
Any advice on how to choose the best option!

I just received my Escape safety recall notice 22S73. I want to share the video that will show the process the technician will perform!

Had a vendor go bankrupt so we stopped building for a few weeks. Thanks for the info. Colorado has been selling nearly 8000+ for the past few months. Hope the 2023 Ranger can improve sales!

Why are the Ranger sales struggling?

Rperez817, thanks for your response and the information. I initially was thinking that since both 1.5 Litre 3 cylinder engines were new and 'somewhat similar ' that Ford engineers might look for distinct differences and possible considerations to what might be causing the fuel injectors to crack in the Escape. I know Ford uses Vitesco and Nissan uses Denso fuel injectors. Anyway, I was brainstorming and hope they resolve the issue over time. I would love to hear they discovered it was simply some poorly produced injectors affecting only a certain/limited batch....rather than continuing with a drain tube. Again, thanks for your help!

The Nissan Qashqai e-POWER sold in Europe and Australia uses a series hybrid configuration that combines KH5T engine (similar to KR15DDT but with lower power rating) and synchronous AC motor with a fixed ratio "transmission". I think this is what jpd80 referenced.

No they are not.
The Nissan battery electrical system is less efficient than what Ford and Toyota currently have.
The small capacity Nissan engine supported by a electric motor with a small battery cannot hope
to achieve its fuel economy figures in the real world……equivalent of automotive “magic beans”.
Oh, I didn't know the 1.5 Litre 3 Cylinder Rogue had an electric motor. Wouldn't that be considered a hybrid? Please explain!

FYI...Vitesco is the fuel injector supplier for the Ford 1.5 Litre 3 cylinder. They were spun off by Continental AG a year or so ago! Continental was trying to spin them off since 2019, but the pandemic delayed the spin off! I was simply brainstorming, since as it stands, Ford is still working on why the injectors are cracking! The New Nissan engine is the only other car manufacturer using a 1.5 Litre 3 Cylinder similar to Ford!

That means they would have turned into Nissan….Speaking of Nissan...they also now offer a similar 1.5 Litre 3 Cylinder Turbo as standard on the 2022 Rogue. I'm wondering if they might eventually have similar engine issues!
It might help Ford to review their engine configuration as a comparison since they are very similar?

Good thing to note. Was having a hard time pulling up the details on mobile earlier. The official Ford.com page about recall 22S73 does confirm the 15 year warranty extension on cracked fuel injectors. That does seem more than reasonable, albeit without preventing the hassle should the injectors prove to be defective.

I wonder if there is a mileage limit on the 15 year warranty?

I also noticed on the question about any further "investigation" on the issue:
Are there any open investigations on this specific issue? No.

It may be a solution to you, but it's a band aid to me. The root of the problem is faulty injectors. Ford has to find out what went wrong and a date range or batch this problem started and stopped. Then get the problem fixed. Get the manufacture to pick up the tab for the recall. Yes it's a band aid and it's better than nothing for now. But having a 3 cylinder going down to 2 so I can get the car home is just well going to be a slow ride home. So the car has to go to the dealer anyway to get the bad injector replaced. Do you think they wold replace all 3? I doubt it, even though they should. If Ford doesn't mind the customer being pissed off then I guess it's a good band aid "temporary" solution.
I wonder if there is something else that is causing the injectors to crack...such as insufficient fuel mixture into the firing chamber ,which is one of the main causes for cracked injectors in the past? If it was the injectors I think they would have indicated certain lots or production dates the injectors were produced? Or, is there something in the design of this new engine? Lots of questions!

Correct so they must implement immediate control measures or people stop driving their vehicles.
Diverting leaked fuel is terrible choice but getting it away from hot areas is an absolute priority.
Perhaps they need time to identify which batches of the 2.4 million should be prioritised for replacement…
Yes it’s bad that Ford allowed such a massive lapse in quality to exist in the first place,
the question now is how can that be controlled and corrected without putting owners
in harms way….
I'm wondering if they are going to revise the injectors on the 2023 vehicles or simply attach hoses and update the software? I appreciate the 15 year warranty, but still wonder about the cause! They are curing the symptom....but what is the cause?

Vitesco is the responsible supplier. They were spun off by Continental AG a year or so ago! I also read that Continental was trying to spin them off since 2019, but the pandemic delayed the spin off!
Now, anyone with the new 1.5.. 3 Cylinder engine will get a software update and a drain tube to keep the fuel away from the hot engine...if the Vitesco fuel injector cracks. Recall letters will be mailed around December 9th.

Ford just announced a recall on the Bronco/ Escape 1.5 Engine. Anyone know if it includes all the 2022 vehicles with the1.5? Why doesn't it include the prior 1.5 engines before 2020?

Hello again. I just noted the phone number I was provided is different than the one you posted here. From the chat session, the new vehicle support team's phone number is 1-800-334-4375. I don't know if that will make a difference in who you reach. I will give them a call sometime soon. Then again, the chat lady may have just been trying to get rid of me - lol!
I called that number you posted and it's the same vehicle support group. I did notice the plant is still producing vehicles and parking them . It's probably a 'wait and see' how quick the plant gets the badges to get our vehicles eventually shipped!

Thank you for the helpful information. I spoke to my dealer about 2 weeks ago, and they said it had not shipped, which matches the email communication I have. When I check the tracker, it still reflects the status as "built". Perhaps it is fully built but missing the badge? I read where 45,000 plus vehicles were sitting waiting on parts, in the same article as the badge shortage.
Ford's email landed in my inbox last night. It seems I am getting updated, but I will reach out again and try to chat as well.
Frustrating, and losing my patience though I understand others have waited longer. I'm about to give up.
A first
But this marks the first time an automaker was known to have been impacted by a shortage of badges.
There’s no question that they’re an important part of a vehicle. Every Ford built today features the company’s name in a familiar blue and chrome emblem.
How important is that Blue Oval badge? Consider that Ford has, in some instances, let vehicles leave the factory minus some chips needed to operate functions like seat massagers in high-line products. It told F-150 Lightning customers they could take delivery of the new, all-electric pickups minus power running boards in 2022 — or wait for next year if they just had to have that optional feature.
No Ford vehicles without a badge are being shipped to dealers, which means the company is sitting on a load of vehicles right now. But, according to a report first published by the Wall Street Journal, the carmaker drew the line at letting its products get to dealers with the badges missing.
What happened?
Ford looked at other options, including the use of badges produced by 3D stereo printing methods. But it found they just didn’t meet the quality the company required.
So, it seems, some otherwise completed products will have to sit in factory lots until a new supply of the logos can be found.
What happened to those badges? It seems the supplier, Michigan-based Tribar Technologies, is in hot water for leaking a carcinogenic compound called hexavalent chromium into the Huron River this past summer. That led to an order restricting access to a river popular with boaters, swimmers and fishermen. Tribar only this month received conditional approval to resume operations and it isn’t clear if it has gotten back to its normal operating speed yet.
Ford sidelines thousands of vehicles
Many of the nearly 45,000 vehicles Ford is holding on to as it waits for badges, are high-priced full-size pickups and SUVs.Last week, Ford announced it expected anywhere from 40,000 to 45,000 “high-demand, high-margin models of popular trucks and SUVs” to be impacted by various parts shortages.
But it left open questions about what vehicles and which missing parts.
Ford isn’t offering much detail but it appears that F-150 pickups — its most profitable product line — are among the vehicles on hold.
And it also appears likely that other shortages, including semiconductors, are contributing to the problem.

PS - I just chatted with Ford. However, I did not get any additional information other than the ETA. She gave me a phone number for new vehicle support team. I'll give that a try next. I was not aware they had that option.
I also was told to call 800-392-3673...Ford Customer Service. They were not much help. I was told delivery of my built Escape. ...Mid to late August .....revised to September 5....revised to September 15th....revised to October 15th. There is no Regional Rep to contact , like the good old days! I'll keep watching how you progress. Battery is draining.

Actually, after rereading the email, they stated expected delivery date the week of the 19th or the 25th of this month. But, seeing that it has not yet shipped and today is the 13th, I doubt either of those dates will work.
Now that the rail carriers are already slowing down and the inevitable strike this week, the plant will soon be filled to maximum with Escapes in addition to probably offsite parking.
I doubt they will prioritize shipping our Escapes , which have been sitting for a month already. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to be closer to a couple months of sitting idle in the yard. Draining patience and battery! Ugh!

Thanks for the information. You certainly have great knowledge on those helpful interior suggestions. My family is constantly sliding large coolers in and out of the cargo area and I'm tired of using towels to protect the carpet from wear! I also am now researching 'ceramic polish vs carnuba wax' for the exterior of the Escape. It seems there are many different types, but also need to buy more micro fibre towels! Thanks again!
