  1. Has anyone seen an explanation on what is happening that causes the pop? I'm asking because I want to get a feel for how detrimental it is to leave this unfixed.
  2. Interesting, in a bad way. I had it worked on today at the dealer and they did TSB 13-7-5 ("several splices"). I have practically no mileage on it since then, so I'll be hoping that it's been taken care of. Even if I don't have any more symptoms, I was wondering, what about 5-10 years down the line? Good luck with yours and let us know of any more news (as will I).
  3. Not sure if this is related to my problem or not. When I started it up today it came on with the check engine light/message. It acted like the transmission was in limp mode (as I understand it). If I let off on the gas, the transmission acted like it disengaged totally and the RPM's dropped to below 1K (even at highway speed). Accelerating was like the reverse with the transmission hesitating before it engaged. Brought it to the dealer but had to shut it down before the could get a code. It had a P0106 (as mentioned in the above tsb). After restarting it the system check says everythings currently fine, seems to run ok, but the check engine light is still on. Bringing it in tomorrow to hopefully find out more.
  4. Is there anywhere to get the download without having to use Java? Alternatively, can someone upload the download ( ) here?
  5. Just to add to the numbers, I'll add that my 2.0 makes the noise too.
  6. My take on Escape's MPG is that AWD really hits the mileage - more than the claimed numbers. I average about 21 MPG (starting to drop now with the cold weather). As a test, I've tried getting up to highway speed (say 60), holding it in cruise, and resetting the MPG. Even in that ideal situation, I can't get upto 25MPG. I'm not sure how much to believe the intelligent AWD display, but it shows all tires engaged at just about any level of acceleration. Maybe that has something to do with it.
  7. Has anyone else noticed the door handle starting to stick a little after opening the door?
  8. I'm crossing my fingers that they do come up with a fix. Mine has squeaked since day one.
  9. It's 3.5.1 on the update site. I was able to successfully install and report the installation. In case anyone else wants to try it this way, I started the installation while in park, then when it was underway I went to lunch and ran errands, locking the Escape while leaving it running when necessary.
  10. Really? Great. The only usb stick I had handy is (only) 1GB. I guess it will probably fail in an hour or so when it gets to that point (it's still only at 16%).
  11. I checked the sync site today and it showed that an update was available. I'm at 3.2.2, without navigation. I'm downloading the update right now. While I'm at it, I've just got to rant. The mft/sync buggy and unbelievably slow to respond to touch inputs. But not only that, but the syncmyride website is just as lame. Why is it so hard to download a file? They require either Active-X or Java in your browser. Really? Just let me download the file and I'll transfer it to a USB stick. And my god, this thing is going to take all day to download and the rate it's going right now.
  12. Very cool that you posted this info - thanks. I was able to figure out OASIS, but from what I found, I thought only a dealership, or the like, could get access. May I ask how you got this information?
  13. I'm tempted to perform this upgrade, so I took a look at the TSB. It says "Please run OASIS using the VIN to search for open Field Servie Actions (FSA). If FSA 11A01, 11A02 and 11A03 are open, they must be performed...(else doing the upgrade)...will result in undesired system performance issues.". So, does anyone know what FSA 11A01/2/3 are?
