  1. Replacing tires on 2012 MKT EcoBoost with 20" wheels. Considering the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ or Michelin Premier LTX. Currently have the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ but have some indication the Michelin Premier LTX is very quiet. Before had Pilot Sport A/S 3 and they were quieter than the 3+. I'm looking for quiet and a decent M&S tire. Any input would be appreciated!
  2. Thanks for the responses. I'm not looking for Ford/Lincoln to pay for anything. I'm looking to Ford/Lincoln to explain what happened to the system that allowed it to hit the other car. I have located two other events just like this one and looking for more. Also my insurance is looking into the number of these events after I told them about Fords position. I do and did know what the manual has printed in it. Ford just announced a complete parking system (controls steering, accelerator and brake. You would think they would be interested in any failure of older systems but not so. Can anyone verify the technology for the side sensor? Ultrasonic/RF?
  3. 2012 MKT While using the parking assist, the Lincoln hit the rear bumper corner of the car next the Lincoln at the start of the parking maneuver. For the past four years I have used the parking assist almost every time I park. No messages show in the message center indicating a system failure. All was normal (indicated park place found, pull forward, stop) during the start of the parking. Ford dealer said they have no procedure or protocol to verify the failure/functionality of the parking assist system. Ford/Lincoln only help was to tell me to take it up with my insurance company. How can the insurance company explain the failure or verify why the system failed if the dealer can’t? Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Every time I have the tire rotated one or two of the lug nut covers goes missing. Is this normal or the fault of the tire people? Happened at Ford and Costo.
  5. Costco replaced the tires (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3) at 20k with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 + which appear to have more tread and heaver feel. Will see how the wear goes. I can't complain with new tires every 20k with the new tire ride and quite rolling. I'm paying only by the mile.
  6. Thanks! Been looking at the Michelin Latitudes. Apparently different types of that tire. Will check the Continentals.
  7. Thanks to all! Working the wear issue with Costco. Trying to replace tires with another type or brand. Warranty issue - they want to replace with same tire.
  8. OEM Goodyear's wore out at 35 to 40K. Replaced with Pilot Sport A/S 3 Michelin's wore out 25K. Replaced with same (warranty) almost worn out 17K. Balance and alignment checked OK. What tire would you recommend? Need M+S type tires. Like quite. Also, anyone know if wheels could be replaced with 18" or 19" wheels and tires? Thanks!
  9. Took the MKT in for an oil change and checking the idling issue. Dealer claims the 1200rpm at start in Southern Cal (70 degrees always) is normal. 900 rpm on hot start is normal. Would anyone with a MKT 2012 please respond with your experience on cold (70 degrees) and hot engine start rpm and for how long if above 60rpm. Any tech input would be great. Thanks! socalred
  10. YT90SC, Thanks for the reply. The check engine light stayed off after the dealer changed the upper O2 sensor. Will be taking the MKT in for oil change soon and will leave it to check this problem. From the replies appears it is not common.
  11. Ford replaced the upper O2 sensor and now the idle is 1200-2000 rpm on starting cold and 1000 rpm on warm start. Also when I start off soon after starting sometimes on pulling off and letting off in city traffic the idle hangs at 2000 rpm. That's a thrilling moment. Anyone have any ideas of the cause or experienced to problem? Thanks
  12. Check with the dealer and he showed me a connector under the dash above the brake pedel with is a 14 pin female and said that was for the trailer brake controller. Dealer order the harness to go from that connector to the trailer brake controller harness. That kit has a 14 pin female connector. So something is not right. Any one have the part number for the harness from the MKT connector to the trailer brake harness? Any help would be great as I'm not getting much from the dealer. Also is the 14 pin connector in the MKT the right one to connect to? Thanks,
  13. Anyone got an idea where to mount a trailer brake controller in the MKT. Controller is a Prodigy. Also I assume the connecter in the MKT is a standard Ford connector and cable. The MKT did not come with a connector/cable. Should there have been one in the MKT? Thanks,
