  1. Well, here we go. Mine has been sipping some coolant lose. Have had to add a very small amount of coolant over the last month or two. Couple of rough starts in the last month. Plugged in Forscan and I do have a P0316 DTC. Misfire on the first 1000 revs. Thank goodness I have 100,000 PowerTrain. I currently have 32,000 miles. Stopped by the Ford dealer. They said it’s a good thing I have the 2.0 cause the 1.5 is on backorder. Like that gives me a warm and fuzzy. Traded in my 2013 2.0 Titanium for: 2017 Lightning Blue Titanium | 2.0. | AWD | Pano Roof | Tow Package Sport Appearance Package | Roof Racks

  3. Anybody know what this is for?
  4. Are you sure TSB-2375 is the correct number? Can’t find it anywhere, which is unusual after this much time has passed.
  5. And now onto the next Ford fiasco, coolant lose and engine replacement. What the hell has happened to this company?
  6. I wonder if Ford is going to treat this one like they did with power steering fiasco, dual clutch transmission fiasco, rusting Fords, etc. https://www.lieffcabraser.com/defect/ford-coolant/ https://www.newsom.law/ford-engine-overheating-lawsuit.html
  7. Not sure why this is needed. With Fords current lug nuts, thieves would get frustrated from the distorted bulging skin and simply move on to another vehicle that has lug nuts that actually work.
  8. So, I guess Ford is going to screw everyone again and not do a recall. Here is the design flaw. Pictures are of the 1.5 showing the saw cut between the cylinders from the bad block The other picture is the replacement block. Go figure.
  9. Clearly the 2.0 in my 2017 Escape is from the Cleveland plant. Here’s my sticker on the side of my engine.
  10. I think the biggest difference is the 2017+ is an open deck block whereas the 2013 - 2016 is closed deck.
  11. From an Escape owner: “I received a letter about the PCM software upgrade on Jan 18th 2020 to help fix the coolant leaking into some cylinders. My 2017 Escape is on it's second engine due to this leakage after ~4200 miles. The mileage is now just under 5000 miles. It's our third car and only does ~2000 miles per year. I called the dealer and he told me to bring it in on my next oil change for the software upgrade, if it even needs it, because the new engine was installed Dec 16 2019. Hopefully I got the latest software with the new engine. Anybody know if the PCM upgrade changes the power curve or the torque curve? Are we still getting the HP and Torque we were promised in the specifications when we purchased the cars? I had coolant leaking into cylinders 2 and 4. Apparently this is a known fault with the engine cylinder liners cracking between cylinders and allowing coolant to weep into the cylinders. My local dealer has replace around 100 of these engines. The liners had a design fault which allowed cracks to develop due to expansion and contraction of the steel liner relative to the aluminum block. The new engine has a revised liner design that is supposed to prevent cracks occurring. I have seen, in person, the two designs of liner and hopefully the new design is better. The new design is stronger but may be less compliant to the demands of expansion and contraction of the liner relative to the block. Time will tell. 2017 Ford Escape 1.5l” BTW, I totally stand corrected as far as porosity in the blocks.
  12. Thanks. That TSB is a number I haven’t seen and doesn’t come up on the internet The one I’m familiar with is 19-2208.
  13. Very sound advise! I’m at 27,000 miles on my 2017 right now. Bought it used from the dealer (Dealer GM drove it for 7000 miles, titled it) and they gave me PremiumCare until 48,000 miles (Dec 2021) and PowertrainCare until 100,000 miles (Dec. 2024). So your saying my PowertrainCare will cover me in this particular scenario?
  14. Well, not really sure how to feel about this. The numbers aren’t high enough for a recall. No public outcry and no injury. BUT, it does seem like there is a problem. This reminds me of the EPAS steering issue with pre-2013 Escapes. Many owners are left holding the bag. Also reminds me of the rust issue and the PowerShift issue.
  15. Good info, thanks. And I don’t mean to disparage all the good mechanics out there. I just got unlucky with the dealership I went to. Ive just got so many questions. The only clue we have right now is the PCM update for 1.5’s that runs the coolant pump after engine shut-off. My guess is the PCM reads what the temp is and this dictates if and how long the coolant is circulated. Maybe a heat spike after shut down is affecting the head gasket. My question is, why is Ford replacing with both long blocks and short blocks. Why not just the head gasket? Lots of questions for sure. I’m kinda regretting trading up from my 2013 2.0 to my 2017
  16. Have you ever had your car serviced at a dealership? You really think that happens? Seriously?
  17. Man, you got that right. On the Escape forum I belong to, lots of Escapes are getting their blocks replaced. BTW, where are the blocks actually cast? My engine says Cleveland, but to me that just means assembling, maybe even final machining. But where are they actually cast? Does Neymar cast the blocks for Ford?
  18. My point is Field Service Action 19B37 Go ahead, keep denying there is an issue. More and more Escapes are popping up with coolant loss
  19. Yep, lots of blocks being replaced. And there are leaks with the 1.6 and 2.0 as well. Just go to Fordescape.org and look up all the folks having their engines replaced.
  20. Yep, its a real thing. Folks on here want to flame me, but on the Escape froum I follow its about one a week thats reporting the low coolant and ending up with an engine replacement. The mileage on these reports are all over the place, from under 15,000 to around 75,000.
  21. The latest TSB. https://ford.oemdtc.com/4476/2-0l-ecoboost-coolant-in-cylinders-white-exhaust-smoke-and-or-illuminated-mil-2015-2019-ford-lincoln
  22. A TSB is an acknowledgement, but this is happening to people with 20,000 miles, 30,000 miles, 40,0000 and so on. So if your past your warranty Ford doesn’t pay. At least with the Focus RS Ford took care of the owners. Your attitude is is exactly why the Escape/Kuga sub forum gets so little traffic.
  23. And here is a quote from a very popular Escape forum. “Morning all, just figured i would add my story. 2017 SE 1.5 with 9000 miles on it. Started running rough than came a p0302 code. misfire code. got so bad that i had to have it towed to dealer after i noticed no antifreeze in overflow tank. Fist look they tell me it needed a head, call back again and they now have to put a new short block in. 9 weeks later i get it back and the dealer tells me there are like 12 cars like my problem there now. i also have a 2014 escape with same motor 50,000 miles and not happy with that one at all. Good thing i took out the extended warranty.” There is a serious problem with coolant leaking into the cylinders. This quote above is just one of many who have posted about the problem and having the blocks replaced. Somebody at Ford knows what’s going on.
  24. Uh? Exactly what evaporation is going on? I drove my 2013 Escape 2.0 for 122,000 miles before trading up and I never once had to add coolant.
  25. Definitely agree with both of you. And yes, enthusiast forums tend to be a little over the top. But its really all we have to keep an honest eye on things. Kinda like having a free press and free speech. You have to put up with all the noise to find the truth hidden in there somewhere. Can't rely on Motor Trend or Car and Driver cause their all paid by sponsors.
