  1. I just hear 3rd product cycle come directly from a top lincoln guy-- couple levels below Farley-- I was only speculating on how long each cycle would be. (5 years per cycle maybe?)... the first of which were in now.
  2. Anyone have any strong opinion on the future success in China? Their appetite for American cars seems to be strong-- considering the Germans stronghold in the Europe luxury market (80 pct marketshare)-- it's hard not to think Lincolns future as a true global luxury brand rests heavily on their success in China.
  3. RWD- Recently heard top brass from Lincoln comment RWD could be in the planning pipeline for the third product cycle..10-15 yrs? Hard to imagine what the luxury market will look like that far down the road.
  4. The only documents I know of purposely destroyed after a short period of time are tax documents related to the formation of certain holding companies offshore to receive favorable tax treatment--in the event of an audit it would be difficult to prove the intent of tax avoidance. I suppose this same protection could apply to potential defect documents.

  6. SOX increased retention periods for documents related to public filings (10-K, Q, etc) for internal financials and external audit work papers. Makes sense no? Why would they reduce retention periods if the intent of the law was to improve transparency? Also, I went through the companies annual file review (AFR) at Ford last week and the minimum retention period I saw on any class of document was 7 years (greater than two years old moved offsite).
  7. To the poster that commented the execs all use blackberrys and this decision may be related, I would comment--the leadership team will no longer be using blackberry in the next month. Ford IT top brass announced the company will no longer support the blackberry enterprise server for corporate email. This seems incompatible with the mytouch decision and their current / future partnership with RIM. iOS and android are clearly inferior went it comes to email so this decision baffled me.
  8. I think the triggr is opening the door not any weight sensor. I've noticed this a few times when exiting a car wash and at a low rate of speed opening my car door (as compared to rolling down the window) to hand an attendent a ticket; the car is forced into park.
  9. I don't think louisville is near capacity; the MKC has not been put on hold. I just heard Jim Farley comment a few weeks back at the earnings annoucement and town hall meeting for world hq employees that the MKC was a critical component of the Lincoln revival. Also, I have a co-worker who just transferred from WHQ to the louisville plant and commented they were preparing for production (timing uncertain).
  10. A couple hundred miles post update and I'm averaging 39pmg for a +3mpg improvement; pretty good results.
  11. Didn't get any notice yet- I just happen to be due for my 10K prev maint; they are prepared for the update already. Don't wait for the notice if you're inclined to get fixed now. Its call the PCM (powertrain control m?)...also, updating the active shutters is part of the fix.
  12. Taking my hybrid in the morning I'll report back on any improvements. Lifetime MPG has fallen a bit short of my expectations at 36mpg, but I do a lot of highway driving and don't adjust my driving style.
  13. I have an mkz and live in b'ham; haven't observed any non-stock (MY2013) colors around. You sure it wasn't the smoked quartz or silver? Those are the two color options currently available in the gray spectrum- it would seem unusual to add a third option.
