  1. I don’t see how it improves either hence the reason I’m skeptical.
  2. All I’m saying is that currently the Edge isn’t part of the plan for North America by the looks of things. They cancelled it here I’ve heard nothing about them importing any Edge from China of any sort.
  3. It would have but that’s not the reality and i can only hope that the BEV plan doesn’t turn out to be a disaster at OAC.
  4. Wouldn’t they have done that already?? Edge isn’t part of the plant it seems.
  5. That’s the thing, I hear alot of people say exactly what you’re saying. They say in regards to EV not for now, they’re too expensive and charging infrastructure not adequate and they’re gonna wait. I will not even consider and EV in the near term at all. Cost and these other factor we mentioned are the reason. Your Bronco sounds like it’s gonna last along time. I’m regards to Bronco Sport I can see Ford making that offering soon in regards to PHEV.
  6. Also range anxiety and infrastructure to add to the good points you made.
  7. I really hope this situation turns around because as someone who is gonna have to be building BEVs in a year I can’t help but feel some skepticism. I know it’s early but I have every right to be concerned. Do I think EV will fail in the long run, no. All these governments pumping billions of dollars into this won’t allow it to fail in the long run. These sales figures are just garbage how does Ford improve this situation. Ford would rather import so I doubt that we will ever see any edge or nautilus built in N/A again. Mexico was also supposed to build what Oakville is getting, their projections were way off. If you ask me OAC should get the next generation Mach E as it’s GE2 as well. It seems as though ford will be under capacity right now sales wise with these EVs. Am I wrong?
  8. Mach-E sales are absolutely DISMAL. If this trend continues I wonder if Ford will cut a shift at Cuatitlan. I really hope EV sales rebound sometime in the very near future.
  9. We did a massive retool of this plant in 2014/15 of the Edge since then we have only had mid cycle refreshes. I agree with Akirby on his assessment. I suppose retooling Oakville to continue on Edge and Nautilus just wasn’t feasible.
  10. We shall see if Farleys genius plan to remove this COMMODITY plays out in the long run! They could’ve carried on with an Edge/Nautilus Hybrid at OAC. They chose to move forward with the future, if Ford didn’t do anything with forward thinking people would say they’re moving too slow. All I can say is I’m hoping for the best!
  11. Yup it sure does look like the Chinese Explorer.
  12. If the Everest ever did come here they would have to build it at your plant since it’s basically a Ranger SUV.
  13. Original projection by Ford was 100,000 units of Ford/Lincoln 7 seater. I have my doubts based on the current scale back by this company.
  14. The long downtime isn’t necessarily poor planning. The plant has to be gutted and all the tooling from the four vehicles brands we built removed. It’s a big project and it’s gonna take time. They’ve already started doing work in there but the major work doesn’t start till after we leave on April 26th. As for the lower demand, I totally agree and hope that the vehicles don’t bomb.
  15. Take a careful look at the Evos, it looks very much like an ICE MACH-E. You may disagree with me but it does look like the Mach-E. It would’ve been nice if Ford had put Hybrids in the Edge/Nautilus years ago not wait til they discontinue them in N/A them import the Nautilus.
  16. We get unemployment from government and we get supplemental unemployment benefit from ford. It will be the equivalent of 70 percent of regular wage.
  17. I hate the fact that this company just killed off the edge the way they did. Makes me sick.
  18. I do agree the plan just doesn’t sound great and she also spoke about reducing Lincoln dealers.
  19. I was listening to the Lincoln boss on a podcast last night and she seems excited about this 4 vehicle strategy. She spoke about the Nautilus and how we have some Aviator news coming soon and an all new Navigator. It was an podcast from Automotive News.
  20. You would think they would have something to show the public by now but it’s under this big shroud of secrecy. It’s been like 5-6 years since these products have been announced and nada!
  21. We have ppl at work who transferred from Windsor at our plant when their plants closed in the early 2000s and a lot of them say the exact same thing.
  22. Ford seems quite content to export from China it seems. For some reason I can’t see them doing that although it makes sense.
  23. A lot of people just don’t know that it was never ever made in the US. The new one is a great product, I would of preferred it to be built on this side of the world but business is business.
