  1. Joe, BP (Joey Ithink), Hope to be at the first one in Springville in April. Going to assume it will be the third Saturday as usual. I am at McWane Center until the end of the month, could be a few days longer, just depends on when the back ground checks come back on my replacement. The checks should be back but if not I have agreed to stay until they do. State does the DHR check so it varies between three to six weeks. Little scared about this, tried it once when I got out of the Navy after 30 years, found out you can only transplant bushes so many times before you kill them! Have a couple of projects to keep me busy and out of trouble....
  2. Joe, I am in pretty good shape, not by planning, just a little dumb luck. After the mini crash after 911 my 403B had nothing but - s infront of all the funds. Ask the guy what he had with a + on it and he said "the guarenteed" account. Told him to shift everything to it! Do to a little prcrastination I just left it there so when the current dive happened it was untouched. Some years I made 5%, some only 2.5% but at least it is all there! I haven't hit a lick on a thing outside of routine maintenance. Got the Stude in and cleaned all the crap out of it, still need to finish stripping the interior so it can get a good washing to get rid of the mouse pee and other goodies that may be there. Need to finish the wifes 65 Bird before I get too deep into that Stude! Looking for a 64, 65 or 66 coupe Bird to cut the roof off of. If you know of any shout at me. See ya at the Springville Wally World.
  3. Joe, Guess I need to look at this board more than once a year! Sold the 03 in Feb. 08, had I known you were in the market......sold it for 24K to a nice kid in Statesboro, GA that had an 03, sold it to buy a Ranger and realized his mistake a short 3 - 4 months later. The Shelby came in on the 3rd of March and I've got 10K on it. Put on FRPP springs (to kill the 4 X 4 look), Magnaflows, FRPP CAI and tune and FRPP 3:73s. I am going to retire, the 27th of March is my last day of work. Got a new project car, 1963 Studebaker Lark Daytona Wagonaire, 4-speed, bucket seat, air, power disc brakes and 3:73 TT (their traction lock, called it "Twin Traction").
  4. Dyno day at Walkers in Trussville on Saturday the 23rd. 12 Mustangs of various types and mods pulled. Best for the day was an 08 Shelby GT 500, 626HP/613lbft both pulls. Had TVS, up graded intercooler, CAI, Corsas and an Evolution tune. Fuel/air was perfect across the board.
  5. Would like the scoop on the what, when and where. VIN 1ZHT88S385176552 Thanks much, Bill
  6. Yup, have to hang on....just too much fun reading these forums and gleaning info from time to time. The 99 still has a warm spot in my heart, the 03 will for some time and the 08 is just awesome when compared to the other two. Be nice to see you if the Springville cruise-in happens this year.
  7. Hi Joe, Glad to see you're still out there! I ordered from Jim Skinner Ford. He was out of quotas but called and talked to, as he said, "the Ford lady" (I think the regional inventory control manager in Atlanta) and she told him to put the order in. That was 18 December, just after Christmas I stopped in to see if it was going to be built and they (Skinner) told me he didn't think it would be. Well on 17 January he gets a call that it would be built! Yup, pretty lucky or just the right timing, don't know, don't really care. In the mean time I start looking all over the net for a car. Everyone of them out there was 5 - 10 - 15 over. Told them all no. Funny thing, in the time since I got the word that my car was to be built (18 Feb. build date) I've gotten calls from three of them I talked to wanting to sell at MSRP. The last one was really upset that I didn't make them that offer. I told him the name of the sales man and his statement that 10 over was the best I could hope for. If they weren't in northern IL I would swing by and show them what I have and look at the ones they still have sitting on the floor! I still have the 99 Cobra stuff we talked about and it is still yours if you want it. I have a year to go before retirement, still pondering if I want to pull the plug next March or continue working. I did finish the 66 Ranchero that was in the build stage for 10 years. I had it at the last Springville cruise-in. Sold it and it is now in Mobile living happily ever after. Now working on the wife's 65 Bird. I do have a couple of projects to keep me busy for a couple of years if I do retire. Hooking up sounds like a plan! We'll talk about that later. Cya, Bill
  8. :happy feet: My car was pulled for build today! :happy feet: 08 Shelby GT 500 Red/white Charcoal/red
  9. As busy as this place is looks like I will just exercising my fingers............Have a GT 500 ordered and will sell/trade the 03. Red coupe, CAI, Flows, Have a post fix 99 exhaust system, the stock 03 system, the stock air cleaner assembly, Pristeen 03 10th Anniversary mats, car is 100%, no dings/scratches/flaws, Mobile 1 and NAPA gold every 3K, never smoked in, located in Birmingham, AL only 41,000 miles. Any interest call 205 853 9392 after 6PM central or email bkrueger@mcwane.org
  10. It also suppreses radio noise the ground strap on the lower passenger corner as the hood is plastic and will not suppres RFI from the ingition.
  11. A 95 R went across the Barret Jackson stage in 2006. Had 32 miles on it, Shelby's signature and only sold for a litle over $30K. My bet is neither of them will become the "big time" collectables (Boss 302/429) in the short term. Given the initial cost most of us with disposable income (over 50) will never see the big dollars and the young kids that struggle to buy one move on to something else as they get a family just as I did with my 70 Boss 302 and 62 Corvette!
  12. Had the 03 in WI over Christmas......found out the car does not like slushy roads. Just feels real wiggley! I know....it got a very thorough bath when we got back down to B-Ham!
  13. oldracer, I do not mind getting old (I will be 60 in March), the alternative to having birthdays is a lot less attractive! Just have to plan ahead a little! Things such as the jumping up and down from the bed of the F-150 don't happen any more, getting under the car for oil changes is now a one trip evolution and the old brake work stool sees a lot more use now! Projects seam to take longer then they used to but I am just happy I have projects!
  14. The saying that "win on Sunday sell on Monday" still applies! Sit down and talk to some of the GM guys about the great expectations they had with the Goat but fell terribly short. They were all looking for a Cobra killer the common man could buy.....didn't happen. Performance and specialty cars bring folks into the show room and help drive sales. What kind of headlines did it make when Dodge took the fastest truck title? Every mag covered that.....the GT 500 was probably the most covered model I've ever seen! Still is for that matter. There would be no horse power war going on if fuel economy was the only concern that was considered when making a purchase. Ford needs SVT to help bring its name back to the top of the performance list!
  15. The over pricing of the GT-500 seams to have settled to a little less then 60K. Skinner Ford sold a rag top for 68K off ebay with a buy it now almost as quick as it went up. That was four weeks ago. Watching them on ebay gives hope the madness will end by the time the 08s hit the dealer floors. Maybe dealers will have more than a few on the floor and have to do deep discounts to move them. That is how I got my 03 Labor Day weekend (plus the rebate was on due to over stock) as the 04s were coming out! Remember, the 03s were going for 10K over sticker when they first hit the street!
  16. Joe, Saw your car, stopped by twice, it was early in the evening, but you were not there. Got hooked up with a couple of Ford guys and that killed the rest of the evening! I decided to go in the Bird, helped a fellow Bird owner repair his and we decided to run up there together in the Birds. We were side by side about the third row in from the entrance. Give me a call in the evening (853-9392) and we can set up getting you those parts.
  17. Railroad, Try to hook up with you the 19th at the Wally World just north of Springville, we can talk about you getting the parts then and set it up.
  18. Comparing the original Boss 302 to the current Mustang is like comparing apples and oranges! The 69/70 Boss 302 was a nearly race ready automobile. The engine was bullet proof (steel crank, cross drilled and champhered, HD rods, light weight forged pistons and an honest 7000 RPM red line). It had a close ratio top loader, mine came with 3:90 T-lock (could have used 4:30s), the tires and wheels were the widest available on a production auto at that time. The car was tight, loud and rough riding. Couldn't get air in it and the stereo was poor at best. It did run 14 flat in stock trim in the quarter and on a road course the only competition was other Boss 302s. The engine was very peaky, like to be spun up above 2500 RPM to really run strong. I can speak of the 03 Cobras when talking about the differences. The Cobra will run circles around the Boss 302 in terms of creature comforts, quarter mile time and be a worthy competetor on a road course. The vast improvements in technology and rubber make a huge difference. Shocks that we have now are better then those available after market then (Koni was the best back then). In 1970 the best tire available was a BF Goodrich TA radial and it needed to be shaved to 3/32s to give good grip. There is no doubt in my simple military mind that the proposed Boss would run circles around a 69/70 Boss 302 even if it weighed in at 3900lbs vice the 3450 that the 69/70 Boss came in at.
  19. Bad Pony, try to make them all but.........hope to at the one in Springville on the 19th. Will just be back from a trip to WI for the wife's family reunion. Will run the Bird up there, nice road car, just not much trunk space. Have 29K on the 03 now. Put a post fix 99 exhaust system on it and didn't like it, had to come back off, just too quiet. The flows give too much cool to the car and really make it say "HELLO"!
  20. Railroad, glad to see you're still around. I still have the Rio Red 99 rear cover, scoops and side skirts, yours if you want them. Don't know if you heard, the big third Sat night cruise-in is now in the Springville Wally World right off 59 exit 164 (?). Petty good sized crowds. Jim Skinner has been after my 03, told him make me an offer and a written guarantee for a left over 07 or first run 08 500. He just smiled, they believe the $10K - $15K mark up will hold for that long! I told them I think it will run the same as the 03s. Couldn't touch an 03 down here for less than $5K above through the end of the year but when he had six sitting on the show room floor the price came down. He ended up whole saling three of them to make room for the 04s!
  21. Yup, still hanging around but with an 03 now. Not much going on here.
  22. 99Kobra, loved my 99, never had any of the problems that were talked about for so long. Took it in for the HP recall and the knuckle recall and that was really the only time it saw the dealership. Car was happiest living above 3500RPM and handled very well. I too can feel the additional weight in the front but think tires can compensate for that. Like the pull all the way from the bottom end but hate it when I bump the rev limiter. Engine just doesn't fall off as it gets to red line!
