Ford Universal Electric Platform
T-dubz replied to Sherminator98's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
It will be interesting to see how this truck does if it does in fact have a shorter hood. If you look at all the EV trucks out there, most of them seem to conform to the “normal” truck proportions. The Silverado and gmc EV trucks do have a shorter hood, and I’ve always thought they looked dumb compared to everything else. As far as grilles go, it’s hard to imagine a truck without one. The grille has always played a big part in the trucks identity. What we see in the pic reminds me of the lords town truck. Hopefully it’s not this bad. -
Weren’t they originally supposed to be sub 30k? Sub 40k probably means 39,999 and that’s already more expensive than other EVs out there. I thought the new manufacturing process was supposed to save a lot of money, yet they might not even undercut the equinox ev that’s been out for a few years? The rivian r2, which should be a big step up from these vehicles, is supposed to be only 45k.

Ford, the Chinese, and Blue Oval City

I wouldn’t mind seeing the xiaomi su7 and yu7 with a ford badge. They look better than anything ford is making now. -
Genesis Goes Full Mad Max With the 1,100-HP X Skorpio

This looks a lot like a modernized local motors rally fighter. I think the Scorpio looks pretty cool. As much as I wish ford would produce something like this, my bet is they go with something similar to the Porsche 911 Dakar or the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato. -
Maverick EV coming June, 2027

I’d have no problem calling both those Maverick then. As long as they look the same, it makes sense to have the same name. -
New Ford affordable truck musings
T-dubz replied to akirby's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I think this is one of those things that sounds cool and everyone would like the idea, but not many people would buy it. It has to be easy for people to pay for it. For example, bronco and jeep soft tops are the only ones I ever see the whole top down because it’s easy. With hard tops, I rarely even see the front panels removed and almost never see the rear removed because it’s hard. removing or adding panels, removing or adding seats all seems like a lot of work. Then if the storage for the seats and panels aren’t built in, then you have to find somewhere to store all of that. -
Maverick EV coming June, 2027
T-dubz replied to mackinaw's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
If these products were the same but with different powertrains, then I have no problem with them using the same name. But it’s stupid to have vehicles that look completely different share the same name. Silverado looks nothing like the Silverado EV, same for equinox. If the ce1 maverick looks like the drawings we have seen, then it won’t look anything like the maverick. the maverick itself should be a good example of why they don’t need to use other names. It didn’t piggyback off of some other name and it worked out just fine. They could have named it the “ranger sport” or “f150 sport” if they wanted to, but they went with a new name. Might as well do it here too. I do like that the suv will be called escape. -
Ram Wants the Rampage in America, but the CEO Sees a Big Problem
T-dubz replied to rmc523's topic in Competing Products
I think the bigger issue is it looks weird. I think it looks fine from the front, a good replica of the ram, but the side profile looks weird to me. Not a fan of that belt line getting higher towards the back. I also think it looks like two different vehicles were combined to make this. Front doesn’t look like it goes with the body. -
It’s been a long time since I’ve heard the Donkervoort name. I think it’s a pretty cool looking car. Definitely different. This model uses the Ford GT engine. 600 hp 0-62mph in 2.5 sec 1720 lbs https://www.motor1.com/news/785361/donkervoort-p24-rs-sports-car-debut/

Yeah I agree. I actually like the Tonale. Dodge should have given it a more aggressive face. Instead they made it look like a Neon.

Volkswagen to Rename ID.4 as ID. Tiguan in New Naming Structure
T-dubz replied to Biker16's topic in Competing Products
They need to get rid of the ID part of the name. That’s the worst part -
Between the 2.3, 2.7 and 3.0, it seems like most bases are covered. A hybrid would be interesting but anything else seems like overkill unless you plan on dropping some of the other options. Ford the bronco sport, I’d like to see the 2.0 made available on all models and replace the 1.5 with the hybrid, essentially copying the mavericks powertrains.

I’ve seen this mentioned by multiple people. I don’t necessarily disagree with this, however my question is, what was the purpose of using these older names on the Mach E then? Why wasn’t new branding used there? The same reasoning should would apply there too. The younger generations aren’t buying mustangs (hardly anyone is for that matter, only 40k sales in 2025). I’d guess most EV buyers didn’t even know the Mach 1 name.

Ford Performance 2026 launch
T-dubz replied to Sherminator98's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
lol if he thinks the GTD is a corvette competitor. Show me the GTD that I can get for $70k. He’ll, I’m sure the new Dark Horse SC costs more than a corvette. All of that about the racing and off road stuff sounds great, but what about the vehicles for normal people? At this point, I would be more excited to see a new compact SUV from ford than any of this stuff they are revealing. -

Sounds like it’s still under development too, so it might be a while before we see the final version. -
Ford Performance 2026 launch
T-dubz replied to Sherminator98's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Well that was a let down. Thought we were gonna see the hyper car. -
I could be wrong, but imo there is only a very small segment of people who want a ute like vehicle that you and texasota are describing. No one is buying single cabs anymore. The more car-like design of the Hyundai Santa Cruz doesn’t sell nearly as well as the Maverick does. Vehicles need to be multipurpose these days and a single cab rules out families. I also think utes just look strange, as do long beds. Sport trucks are historically more expensive too, as I am sure a Mustang inspired truck would be too. Now, I do think you could get away with Mustang design cues on a truck. Here’s a photoshop of a Mustang front end on a raptor that doesn’t look half bad
