its funny how much a grille can make or break a car. I really like the red one, but the silver one looks like crap.

New name seems to be Corsair, at least per autoblog. Mkc name will stick around until it gets a redesign in a few years

2020 Ford Explorer Spied
T-dubz replied to Assimilator's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Ford could definitely update its gauge cluster. I recently drove a 2018 explorer platinum with the lcd cluster and I was amazed at how much more user friendly the 2 tiny lcd screens in the gauge cluster on my 13 fusion were. With lcd gauge clusters, I also think theres an opportunity that all automakers are missing out on. People like to customize things. We change the background of our phones and tablets, people even spend real money on cosmetic items for video games, so why not try to tap into that and allow people to customize these gauges? How cool would that be to have a rectangular speedometer from the 70s, or maybe a digital speedo from the cougar in the 80s? Or something completely customizable, any color, shape, size and font as long as it meets safety requirements. Something similar to the Apple Watch and its many face options. With updates over WiFi now, itd be fairly simple for this to happen, and they might even be able to make a couple bucks. Ive been staring at the same screen for five years now. I wouldnt mind paying a few dollars for a change of scenery. -
2020 Ford Explorer Spied

I think both the Lincolns look better than everything posted on here except the Mercedes. I dont mind the tablet look and Im willing to bet most of the younger population doesnt either. Its something they are familiar with. With that said, I dont use the touch screens anyway. AC I control 95% of the time with the steering wheel and the other 5% with physical buttons. Radio and phone are 100% steering wheel. I only use the screen for navigation and having the map higher up in my view is a plus. -

When will the Ranger be available?
T-dubz replied to T-dubz's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I hope this isnt the case, 45k seems to be ranger raptor pricing. Id think a base lariat 4x2 supercrew could be had for around 32k which is similar to the Colorado lt trim, of course Id want the lariat sport so add a few thousand. I could make do with an xlt sport, but I hope theres some sort of headlight upgrade but I doubt it. Just wish we could get some specs soon -

Im hoping for a lariat 4 door for around 29-30k after A plan. If Im gonna have to pay more than that, then Im waiting for bronco. If an xlt f150 supercrew can be had for roughly 30k, I dont think its out of line to expect the ranger lariat to be in the same price range or cheaper -

So the ranger coming out will only be here for a couple of years and then gets a complete redesign? I was already planning to wait until the second model year so all the kinks could be worked out in the first year, but if I do that, a brand new truck is right around the corner. This thing better have a great price, or Im waiting for the bronco lol. -

I remember ford doing it for several vehicles, but most recently was the 2018 mustang. I think autoblog even did a story about it -

So if the 2019 model year ranger actually comes out in 2019, should we expect the 2020 model year bronco to come out in 2020 as well or is there a possibility it comes out in 2019? With the bronco, escape, explorer and maybe the mini bronco all coming out for the 2020 model year, youd think ford would want some of these products actually being released in 2019 to keep them in the news every year -
Anyone know when we could expect to see the ranger on sale? I was guessing maybe around November, but there hasnt been a whole lot of info since the pics were released a few months ago. I would have expected some more info like price to have trickled out by now. Even just the build and price would be nice to have to hold me over until its released.

This custom trailboss in my opinion is the best looking one of the bunch. Maybe because its grill is copying the raptor. Is the custom trim level comparable to the stx?

Hackett's 16 BEV and Farley's "white space" vehicles
T-dubz replied to bzcat's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Do car companies even make money on electric vehicles? 16 models seems like it would be quite expensive to develop/engineer. Would those make more money than the existing cars? -
You cant just make the fusion a wagon and raise it an inch and expect it to sell. Nobody wants wagons. The only car maker that is successful with wagons is Subaru, and they sold a whopping 58k vehicles as an entire brand (not just wagons) last month. Ford would have to redesign it to look like an suv to make people like it, which then leads to cuvs, which we already have. I like the Volvo S60 cross country. I think its added ride height on a sedan looks pretty cool, but Ive never seen one on the road. Maybe its because its a lot more expensive vs a regular s60, or maybe most people dont like that look. That car actually has 4 wheel drive built in too, I doubt ford will be making focus active with that. As mentioned previously, bmw and MB have their SUVs that are designed to look like coupes, I dont think their sales are setting the world on fire. Again, these vehicles are pretty expensive so that could be holding them back, but I believe its more likely that people dont want that kind of vehicle. The focus active will be successful because it looks almost the exact same as the regular focus, which should be a decent car. Also its a hatchback which is already the most popular model of focus. If you made it a focus wagon instead of a hatch, itd be sitting on lots forever

So are any of these white space vehicles already in the the pipeline at ford? Hopefully there will be something to show at the auto shows next year. Wait any longer than that and you risk ford sedan buyers jumping ship. Ive really enjoyed my fusion. To me its always felt much nicer than any of the competition. But what do I go to when its time to get a new car? I try not to spend over $30k on a vehicle. We already have a titanium escape. Eco sport is out, too small. Never been a fan of the edges styling, explorer is nice but would wait for the next gen and even then Id have to get a base one. Escapes legroom is pitiful so Im guessing the baby bronco would be the same or worse, so thats probably out. Bronco would be nice but I have no idea on its price or size. Ranger seems to fit the bill, but Im tempted to wait for the next gen in a few years. -

Focus to end May 2018, Taurus in March 2019 and fiesta May 2019. No date given for fusion. This all according Michael Martinez from automotive news. -

What does this mean for the police market? I mean most police vehicles I see are Tahoes and explorers now anyways but Im sure theres a few departments that still want cars -

T-dubz replied to silvrsvt's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Im not sure how I feel about this. Taurus and fiesta should definitely go. The focus active looks good, but if thats going to be the only model here, just call it the focus and drop active from the name. Im sure the active costs a bit more then a regular focus so that might push some customers away. Really surprised about the fusion. I know its been rumored for a while but its one of the better selling vehicles in its class and I see them everywhere. A redesign and better gas mileage would have helped it I have to believe. The ev part was interesting. They only mentioned a performance suv ev. Wouldnt you want your ev to be a vehicle that gets good range and is lighter than what an suv would be? Is Lincoln going to be an suv only brand? Seems hard to justify the mkz and continental if they arent sharing parts with their ford counterpart. Seeing how slowly ford reacted with the ranger, I have no doubt they will react just as slowly if they want to bring cars back. -
Baby Escape (definitely not baby Bronco) Spied?

The front seems really low to me on the profile pic. Almost looks like the front of a car.
