Nice work on the quick chop. I thought it’d make it look better but it doesn’t. It needs something below the lights like the macan has, or like the Kuga has. I’m not sure why they chose to give the American version a different front. The kugas front looks better.

T-dubz got a reaction from ANTAUS in Is there a site that posts Ranger sales each month?
I like the ranger, but I think there are a few things holding it back.
    1) The interior is old and boring. It’s been around for a few years already and they didn’t bother to update any of the electronics inside to match the other new vehicles ford is releasing. Top of the line lariat is still using the same screen setup I’ve had in my 2013 fusion se with my ford touch.
    2) Price. Whether deserved or not, many people believe it is over priced.
3)bronco. People in the market for the ranger could also be waiting to see what the bronco or scout look like.
    4) next gen ranger leaked. I’m not sure if it was ever confirmed or not to be the next gen ranger, but when that story came out with the pics, it mentioned the all new ranger was only a couple years away. That was enough to wait a bit longer to see what an all new ranger would be like.

What did ford expect to happen? I think everyone knew they’d go somewhere else. There’s really two issues going on here, size and price. If I wanted to get a ford suv comparatively sized to the fusion, I’d have to go up to the edge, which is thousands more. I could go down in size to an escape, but now I get a cramped back seat and still probably end up paying a bit more than the fusion.
if I wanted to get a suv comparatively priced to the fusion, I’d have to go eco sport or escape. Nobody wants an eco sport and as mentioned above the escape has rear seat space issues.
the beauty of the sedan was that you could start of with a low price, get most of the options you really wanted, have room for your family, and still walk out the door with a good price. The price conscious shopper can’t do that with suvs, so what do they do? They go to Honda or Toyota or Hyundai.

I’ve always liked the switches in the mustang (the ones by the start button). I think at one point the raptor had some switches too. I hope the bronco incorporates them into the interior.

Forget any concerns you have of it looking bland. I think it looks like nothing else on the road today (not even a wrangler). It's gonna be badass. You're going to love it, both enthusiast and casual customer.

I guess it depends on the market ford sees for this vehicle. I always saw the bronco as a niche vehicle like the raptor. If that’s the case, then throw general appeal out the window and cater to your target market. You wouldn’t want a bunch of Prius or minivan drivers determining the looks of an off-road vehicle.
if however ford sees the bronco as having more mass market appeal, what you are saying makes sense. Mass market appeal usually means bland and boring though so I’m afraid of what this will mean for the bronco.

yep, I think the rav4 xse hybrid is the best looking in the segment right now, and it also gets 41 mpg. If the bronco scout doesn’t work out, this will probably be at the top of my list.

What a terrible article. Especially this paragraph:
“If Tesla is able to release a truck at its planned price point and be able to drive 400 or more miles on a charge it can boast "something extremely interesting" in the segment, Electrek opined. By comparison, the Rivian R1T starts at $69,000 with a range capability of 230 or more miles.”
Umm, I guess you don’t realize that the rivian truck has a 400 mile range option, as well as a 300 mile range too. Way to gloss over that to make the Tesla look better. And if they are implying that the so called $50k version of the Tesla truck with have 400 mile range, they are sadly mistaken. Maybe 200 if you are lucky.

T-dubz reacted to rmc523 in Cadillac puts "truck engine" in CT4-V
Calling these V models is odd.  The problem isn't that they're going to offer models above these.  The problem is that they took the existing V name, which was well regarded, and watered it down so that they could add trims above V.
They could have kept V-sport (much like BMW and Mercedes do M-sport, and AMG sport or whatever theirs is called), and badged these models as V-sport.  The "coming" higher performance models would've been the V (proper) models, and if they wanted to go above and beyond that, you do - "Super V" or something.
With the move now, on paper to the average Joe, it looks like Cadillac V is a downgrade from the previous models - regardless of some future higher model that nobody can see right now.  They spent years building the V name, only to water it down themselves.
This move would be akin to BMW taking the M340i (with 385hp) and calling it the new M3, and then saying, but wait!  At a later date, we'll show something else that'll be what the last M3 was, but it's not going to be an M3!

Maybe it's just the headlight design, but I keep thinking of this:

Doesn't help that in the reveal event photos the Caddy badge looks too large and like it was slapped on a generic vehicle from a TV ad.
    ----
The CT4's interior does look good, though.
I didn't like the rear at first, but I actually like the back end better in the real world shots than the GM photos.

Also, supposedly there are higher powered/better performing models coming above this, which makes the use of the V name instead of V-sport trim on these odd.

    https://www.autoblog.com/2019/05/28/2020-ford-escape-price-25980/
    S - $25,980 (1.5l 3 cyl)
    SE - $28,190 (1.5l 3 cyl)
SE Sport - $29,350 (hybrid only)
    SEL - $30,350 (1.5l 3 cyl standard, 2.0 optional)
    titanium - $34,495 (hybrid standard, 2.0 4 cyl optional)
SE Sport seems like a good option. Seems like a no brainer over the SE for the hybrid alone, but it also comes with the 12 inch digital instrument panel.
Curious how people will react to the 3 cylinder, I have to admit I’d be hesitant to buy a vehicle with a 3 cylinder.

T-dubz reacted to bzcat in Where are the Ford Scout mules?
All the engineering development and validation were probably done in conjunction with Escape and Corsair so it won't need a separate mule testing phase. Some of the supposed Escape or Corsair mule could have very well been Scout mules... we just don't know because they are the same vehicles under the tophat. And of course Ford could test any Scout specific hardware with a new production Escape or Corsair body once those cars hit the dealer lot... so we really won't know at all if it is a Scout mule.
I think what you meant to ask is the lack of Scout prototypes... which is the camouflaged test vehicle with Scout specific body panels. And it's too early to see prototypes yet. I think we will see some by late summer or fall.
