  1. If it's coming it 2022 as a '23MY it could, in theory, be out testing late this year. At least the S550 based mules would be. And as S650 sounds like it's going to be very closely related to S550, it could initially be testing in plain sight
  2. Well, my most anticipated car for 2020 will be a camo'd '23MY/S650 Mustang prototype 😁

    NG Mustang 2023 Model?

I recall one review of the Aviator concept (and I appreciate the concept could differ mechanically from production) but it was stated the rear suspension looked almost identical to S550. So, is S650 an evolution of S550, or is it moving to CD6? I guess those two things could actually be the same! Either way, I'm just glad, in the current climate, we're still getting a new Mustang. It seems Camaro fans aren't so lucky, and even Dodge can't seem to make up its mind what will be next for the Challenger/Charger twins.

    Mustang Mach 1 mule?

Yep, my reasoning for throwing the option of the normally aspirated 5.2 cross plane crank V8 is because that's effectively a GT500 engine without the supercharger. This was the route the '03/'04 Mach 1 took. It used a n/a Cobra motor.....a 32v quad cam V8 with 305hp, verses the 16v 260hp V8 in the GT of the time. There's also already a 5.2 cpc crate engine called the Aluminator. I do agree that's the least likely option, but it would be my choice. I suspect it'll be a Bullitt spec V8 with perhaps a little more power (495hp?) As for rear window slats......some things are better left in the past

    Mustang Mach 1 mule?

5.0 Bullitt spec (GT350 intake and tune) ++ 5.2 normally aspirated cross plane crank 5.0 + hybrid Seems there are a number of potential ways for this to go.
  8. OK, I'm probably just impatient, however...... There are strong indications that the '21MY will see another facelift for the current S550.......with the possibility of a new Mach 1 &/or hybrid version as part of the line up. Assuming the model year timings are similar to the last few years, that should mean we see full production ready version around April this year (for reference, the new '20MY Ecoboost High Performance model was shown at a preview event around the 17th April...Mustang's birthday!). So far, only 2 prototypes have been spotted. This was, if I recall correctly, around late April/early May last year. One is a Royal Crimson GT, the other a Euro-spec Bullitt......both with very light front and rear camo. In fact, the only change we can (almost) see here is on the Crimson car, you can see the front turn signal/running lamps seem to be higher up in the bumper). Will the refresh really be that light? And since then we not seen a thing.......nothing......nada......nowt! Will it be such a light refresh they don't really need prototypes out and about? Whilst I love the look of the current car, it needs more than new bumpers to stay fresh until S650 ('23MY++) in my opinion. So, just an impatient rant on my part. But if anyone's closer to the action, please let me know what we can expect, and when
  9. Getting back on topic....... Well.....I'm still holding out hope for a mild (ish) '21MY refresh. Just hope they really are testing at night which is why we've not seen any recent spy photos. Guess time will tell!
  10. It's not that much different to what we have now!
  11. I love the retro Mustangs.....heck, that's why I have an '05. I'd love for Ford to give us another retro-modern version, more '69/'70 this time..............but I don't see it ever happening again. I do think the '18+ hits the sweet spot in terms of muscle (those hips are more pronounced than any S197!).....and sports car. I expect S650 to be a refining of those looks when it arrives for the '23MY. This render is one of my favourite official ones from Ford. This was one that didn't make it from the initial S550 sketches, but I'd love to see this as S650. It brings back the "hockey stick"/faux side vent, and adds even more flare to those hips.
  12. Well, I hope you're wrong. Whilst Camaro is the nearest home-grown competition, 40% of Mustang sales are now "rest of the world".......and the rest of the world hasn't stopped developing their car (particularly Audi/Merc/BMW etc). Given the sh*t storm Ford received from many Mustang fans over Mach E, you'd think they'd want to re-assure them that they are still committed to the "real" Mustang. And the best way to do that is to continue to develop the Mustang to be as good as it can be.
  13. Remember......waaaaay back in 2017, Mark Field's announced the hybrid F150 and Mustang for 2020..........plus a "300 mile electric SUV" which we now know as Mach E. So, there were definitely plans for a hybrid Mustang and, as far as I can tell, there's no no official announcement to say that's not happening. Of course, this was a long time ago now and plans do change, especially with Mr Fields no longer around. So, two out of the three vehicles are coming this year. I still think the rumored Mach 1 would make sense if it were the V8 hybrid as it would tie the two Machs together. However, the lack of news/rumors on the Mustang hybrid is a little concerning. It would also make sense for the Mach 1 to introduce the mild refresh, but again, there's little proof out there that it exists! https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2017/01/03/ford-adding-electrified-f-150-mustang-transit-by-2020.html
  14. Thank you, that's good info! 5 years for the current model ('18--'22MY) seems a looooooong time.......even the all new S550 was only 3 model years ('15-'17) before its first significant refresh. I think that, plus the prototypes spied above, led many (me included) to assume we'd see another refresh, much like the S197 did for its final 2 model years. Roll on '23MY then
  15. That would be a good reason for them not to be spotted! Finger's crossed they need to do some daylight testing soon though!

    Mustang Mach E Timeline

And yet they won't state how many actual pre-orders that represents. 10,000? 1000? 100?
  17. Autoblog have also reported on the Mach 1 https://www.autoblog.com/2019/12/16/ford-mustang-mach-1-rumors/?ncid=edlinkusauto00000016&fbclid=IwAR3WSyxX3DP1tpYZ2p_RL88QaMZhjODVeWe47sxmvcP3JiVyAJHss2Itr1g However.....they seem to think the next-gen Mustang is coming in 2021 (they don't indicate calendar year or model year) and the Mach 1 may be based on this. I don't think so though....I think Mach 1 will be a last hurrah for S550 NOT S650..... "The next-generation pony car arrives in 2021 on its new modular platform Since the original Mach 1 is known for its black shaker hood and scoop, black side stripes, black rear spoiler, and Magnum 500 wheels, we can expect modern renderings of those cosmetics should a 2021 Mustang Mach 1 arrive. And with the new Mustang's modular platform, it's possible such a car could be the first Mach 1 to offer all-wheel drive."
  18. Ah, OK, thanks. Yeah, that's a much more logical explanation lol
  19. Just thinking out loud.......the recent UAW contract stated there would be an "all new Mustang and derivatives" built at Flat Rock.........is it too much to hope that those "derivatives" could be something like a Lincoln coupe/sportback or even a (I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it.....but more comfortable than with Mach E!!) a Mustang 4-door coupe/sportback......based on S650's architecture? [/img]
  20. Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for the future. A Ford and/or Lincoln 4/5 door "coupe" to take on the likes of the Kia Stinger/Audi A4 Sportsback/BMW 4 Series Grand Coupe........especially in Lincoln trim, would do wonders for the brand as a type of halo car.
  21. I'd love it to use a cpc 5.2 n/a engine......effectively a normally aspirated Predator engine from the GT500. They have the 5.2 cpc "Aluminator" crate engine, afterall...... The previous '03/'04 Mach 1 used, effectively, a n/a version of the Cobra motor....
  22. This seems such a waste. I always thought that if Ford had bitten the bullet and progressed with the GRWD platform, it could have underpinned some superb cars that would have helped them ride out the recession. Instead they cancelled it. Now they have CD6 and are going to restrict it to two SUVs? Arrrrrrhhhhgggg!!!!!
  23. I find it amusing that CJ Pony Parts was the only outlet to report on this and for a couple of weeks, no-one else took notice. Then, I assume a blacked out Expedition pulled up outside CJPP and asked them to remove their video........and since that happened, this story has now been reported by a number of outlets in the last few days! The hybrid makes sense. And I've mentioned before calling the V8+Electric assist car Mach 1 ties in with using Mach E as the all electric "Mustang". However, I think this is more likely going to be a "Bullitt +". Hopefully they can squeeze a few more horses that the Bullitt's 480......and CJPP did indicate it'll use the GT350's Tremec 6-speed manual. I do hope they also give the option of a re-tuned 10-speed auto though. Add in some more PP2/GT350 suspension goodies and it should be a superb car.
  24. Yeah.....it's still rather too bulbous at the front (something I think the Mach E suffers from, too, depending on your viewing angle). I should point out, this isn't my render, just one I found online
  25. Photoshop to the rescue! Mach E as a pony car [/img]
