  1. Vote here Jeff Byers is an offensive lineman for the USC Trojans is a finalist for the Lowes CLASS Awarded (Student Athlete of the Year) and I seek your votes. Jeff is the son of a dear college friend and I've known and gone skiing with him since he was a little boy (Little no more). He's been a starter for a good part of his five years at USC and in that period earned his bachelor’s degree in business and in moments he'll have completed his masters degree in business. He's been on a National Championship team (Some would argue more than one) and he's a clear NFL prospect. More about Jeff here: He's also a car guy. In the summers he worked an international auto firm with US headquarters in Southern California on projects he's not allowed to talk about but said would make me smile. He's a worthy candidate for this special honor and I'll appreciate your support. Brian
  2. It turns out it was the valve train. An exhaust valve was stuck open a bit. I didn't wait around to get the final result as I sold the car. Brian
  3. Hi folks. I sold my car. It was the valve train and it got bad on the way to the dealer to trade it in. I had to get on it one last time and that did it. I told the folks at the dealer and they didn't care. I bought an '07 Civic Si four door for my commute. Quite a change. My only mod is apt to be a short shift kit. The build of my Cobra Daytona Coupe is going well. When done I'll post here. Brian
  4. Are the current shifters simple to replace like the previous generation? Top choices? Please. Brian
  5. I checked compression. 7 have around 200. #5 has 115. When I introduced oil that one went up to 150. Some times the car runs smooth. But at low RPM under a load you can tell something is not right. I think I have a big problem with my engine. Now I need the right sort of shop. Brian
  6. I need a better mechanic. Thanks Hiss.
  7. I've detected a slight intermittent miss. Then the check engine light came on but only for my drive home and not since. I took my car to the dealer and they said #5 was dead. I asked and was told the plug, wire, coil and injector was functioning right. (they tried a new plug and coil) They suspect a burnt valve or piston, or worse, but won't know unless they take off the head or remove and disassemble the engine. Has anyone heard of a like issue? Do you think a leak down test would paint a clearer picture? At a minimum I seek a second opinion but am not aware of a shop that might be right for that other then another dealer. 85K miles. Well cared for Merry Christmas to you all. Brian
  8. Been a while since I've been here but could use some help. My daily driver is a 2001 Cobra Mustang. My home is in a quiet suburban neighborhood and while the car is not obnoxiously loud my 4:45 departure each morning is more noticeable then I'd like it to be. I seek ideas for ways to quiet my car and I'll spend to get it done well. Please don't laugh too hard. I'm building a Factory Five Daytona Coupe replica. I'll use that to stir things up in the hood. Progress pics here: http://members4.clubphoto.com/brian1070988...859/guest.phtml Thank you. Brian
