  1. Those point and shoot thermometers are only for a larger area. Our Fluke model can only focus in on about a five inch area. The laser is to center your measurement but the collection area is much wider. You are most likely reading the temperatures behind the refrigerant line and it is averaging. If you want accuracy you should use an RTD or at lease a thermocouple wire. Wrap it on the low side refrigerant line with tape to you don't get the ambient air.
  2. I have 700 miles on our 4x4 2019 Navi Reserve. Were getting 18.8 in combined. Could get better as I do 80 on the interstate and step into it on take off. I keep the auto start off and drive normal conditions. I do use 93 oct. as it's only 30 cents more here. Couldn't be more pleased as it's winter time and hasn't broken in yet. This 3.5 is a nice engine. There is some history with earlier 3.5's that would suggest this is an engine with longevity. Earlier 3.5's did have issues with condensation in the intercooler and timing chain wear driving past oil changes. Just do the regular maintenance and were golden.
  3. For the paint, I liked most of the colors especially the burgundy but my wife liked the Blue Diamond. We got the Blue diamond ?. After looking at the Burgundy while waiting for our order, I did get the sense that burgundy was too over the top screaming for attention. The ruby was even more so. The Blue is more reserved. We paired it with the cappuccino and It looks great together. Also its a color that's not an up charge. The Rhapsody was too dark while the silvers and browns were too ordinary. But it's all preference and I would be happy with most all of them. BTW the 20 speaker Revel sounds REAL nice. The comfort of the seating is bar none to anything on the road. We test drove many and the up charge from Expy to Navi is worth every penny. While an SUV is not a sports car, The extra ponies of the Navi engine is fun when you want to use them. I only have 500 miles on the OD but were averaging 19mpg in all around driving in the winter. So So happy with this beast. We got the standard length Reserve with Cargo package. No real need to get the L. Plenty of room.
  4. I'm currently taking care of my Dad and he is living with us now. The discount is good so long as a Vet lives in the same household. My son is currently over in the mid east and my in-laws also are Military. It skipped me for some reason. The discount never made it to the Navigator. It's still too hot of a sale.
  5. Congrats on your Navi. We got ours last night also. Ours is Blue Diamond with Cappuccino. WHAT A SWEET RIDE! Wife said it was like we were floating down the road. Also X-plan for us. Ours is also loaded minus the Tow and different wheels. Our Ram Eco Diesel is for the towing. Since I started this thread I'm going to hijack it With the lighter color seats I was looking for just a seat mat to keep bluejeans form discoloring the bottom. Anyone here have a recommendation?
  6. If you are in no hurry and can wait it out, The hype will eventually slow when either the economy really slows down or the gas prices spike or Ford ups it output. I rotate four vehicles so our low mileage lets us keep them around 10 years before we rotate another in. We've found buying a better fit for us than Leasing since we hold on to them so long. I too was blown away when at first I was shown the sticker price to be the actual price but it's what we wanted. They are greedy because they are selling and supply is short. I've bought with x-plan before because I didn't know any better but this time it's my only bargaining tool. With that said, I also feel for what we're getting at it's price point is a bargain when compared to what's on the market. We actually liked it better over any of the other high end offerings. I didn't however drive a Land Rover or Volvo but preferred the ride and space of the Navigator over most of the competition I tested.
  7. The Navigator allure encompass a pretty wide age group. We've owned a 97 Expedition, then a 2007 Navigator and now our 2019 is due in next week. We are now in our mid 50's now but liked the ride of this platform for quite a while for extended road trips. We test drove a used 2018 for $10-K off the new price but it was at about 24-K miles and found the car-fax had it as a rental. That was a deal breaker. The 2018 is no different than the 2019. In fact it's better in that it costs less because of the price increases. At the time we agreed to the x-plan on the 2019 we ordered, we were asked if we rather drive home the L they had on the lot for a better deal than an x-plan. We opted to wait to get the one we wanted instead as we are not in a hurry. The inventory in the north east over a 100 mile radius has continued to shrink over the last 3 months and is currently at 46. This inventory reduction may be because of the 2018 to 2019 switch but they are selling faster than they can make them. I was also told the dealerships are allotted only so many depending on their past history with the factory. Anyways we signed the papers months ago and I am still happy with x-plan pricing. I have yet to see any new navigator on the road in Massachusetts. They are unicorns. BTW Happy New Year!
  8. Wow, Congtats. You did good getting it in early. We spent a couple of weeks dealer lot jumping just to make sure we wanted another Navigator. We ordered the first week of Sept and were informed build of 12-4 and delivery end of year or first week of Jan. That's a 4 month wait.
  9. The wife and I test drove a Sequoia, Land Cruiser, Lexus 570, Top end Durango, Grand Cherokee, Mercedes GLS and Expy before deciding on the Navi. While at the Lexus dealership we finally come to terms that we liked the Navi best. Up here Herb Chambers mostly has the the market cornered. After looking at the 570 and then deciding that we rather have a Navi they directed up a few miles up the street to their Lincoln dealership. I brought up that I wanted to do an x-plan and he balked at first but then said there shouldn't be a problem as it's the end of the year and he could get management to agree. I picked out one that was perfect that was already ordered on the way and shook hands and said I will bring a cashiers check to hold it. That next day I get a call from one of the managers and she said absolutely no way are they going to do an x-plan. The Dealer was out of line to agree to that and the best they would do is take off $500 from the $89-K sticker. She said they are selling so Hot that the $500 off is a gift for the miscommunication. Apparently they have been going for FULL MSRP. I've never bought MSRP and wont start. I went to a dealer in Brockton which is even closer and they would do x-plan. I put 11-K down and ordered a Reserve with everything but Lincoln Play and Tow. The previous poster is correct in that it is a rarity to get X-plan. Now the Military Discount is treated separate from that. It's a $500 rebate. I've checked Trucar to see what they have been selling for and it's about $2500 off MSRP. X-plan is about $5000 off but I haven't seen better than that.
  10. Looking at the Military promotions and my dealer insists the 2019 Navigator is not eligible for a Military Rebate. I read this differently in the QA on the ford web page. Would a Dealer have a monetary interest to keep this from me or would this get paid to me directly from Ford? From Ford web site: Q) What vehicles are eligible for this promotion? A) All 2017/2018/2019 Ford and Lincoln Vehicles are eligible for this promotion. This off is not available on the 2018 Lincoln Navigator, Mustang Shelby GT350®, Mustang Shelby® GT350R, Ford GT, Focus RS or F-150 Raptor.
  11. Thanks for the input. I think I got what I needed. It's OK to run any Octane and change time to time depending on needs. I don't have an option to opt out on ethanol up north though. On a similar note I remember back in the day running Leaded gas in my car and getting a heavy boost in performance. No telling what that did to our health over the years. Same with Corn fields, No telling what the environmental impacts are making Ethanol vs. the "cleaner air" we get from it. That's a whole other topic. I can't wait to get our Navi and have a few road trips. I will try 93, 89 and 87 to see it there are major performance difference and choose from there. No towing needed as I have a Diesel Ram for that. We've owned a 97 Exp, 2007 Navi and now a 2019. Nothing rides better for long trips IMHO. I'll get back with some numbers in February once I get some miles in.
  12. I had a 2004 1/2 F-150 passenger window shatter while I was driving. No other cars around and it spontaneously shattered. It was 4 yrs old at the time. Took forever to get all the glass out of the carpet. It might not have been the heat but stress
  13. Looks like the Lincoln web site has opened the build your own order configuration for the 2019.
  14. So I'm reading we can use just about any gas in our 3.5 Navi depending on your needs. I was wondering what you run in yours vs. mileage and any noticeable performance. I've always been told you should always stick to the same octane and even keep to the same gas station as you car gets used to it. Now I'm reading with this animal, throw anything in there and it will move this beast.
  15. We ordered about 7 weeks ago, I Just got our build date of 12/4/18. Dealer expects a new year delivery. The only reason for us to wait this long is due to them honoring an X-Plan pricing and getting the colors and options we want. I guess two more months it is.
