    Allow me to translate.

If the Escape problems were so bad it would have been reported somewhere already or at least acknowledged here by technicians or in other forums, yet I don’t recall hearing anything either.

That's the one thing FCA Stellantis is great at. Making cars that are great at going on a straight line.

Well this can't be.  I was told Escape was a horrible POS that should be driven off a cliff immediately by "reviewers" .

To your point, the new Escape earned the top spot in the JD Powers APEAL study, and was included in the Ward's Auto ten-best users experience survey.

"The all-new Ford Escape has earned recognition from two prestigious automotive industry organizations this week, taking home the top spot among compact SUVs in the J.D. Power 2020 APEAL Study and being crowned a Wards 10 Best User Experiences honoree"

I still remember whe CR wouldn't recommend the Ford Probe, but did the Mazda version built st same plant, platform and drivetrain. I believe CR did the same to the Mazda derived Escort vs the Mazda version. That's when I didn't trust CR conclusions anymore.

CR is more concerned with faults and things gone wrong instead of say, a positive outcome after being fixed.
And let's not kid ourselves that My Ford Touch problems saw Ford and Lincoln get dinged heavily over faults
with an infotainment system....so much for weighting issues.

Also same company that gave Tesla 103 out of 100 and then retracted a few months later...

Yeah I'm not going to do that. Literally one publication says there's any problems (all of which you cited can literally happen at any time with any model at any company, not just Ford) and suddenly the sky is falling. No, I'm not going to take the bait.

Re: The 5.0 being detuned in F150 vs Mustang...
First, you need more low end torque availability in a truck. Second, since the truck will see engine loading that the Mustang NEVER will, you need more safety room in the tune, both for the life of the engine and the potential for NOx formation. It's not CAFE. It's not Ford trying to move folks to EB's or any other number of things. Since I started paying attention in the 90s, it has ALWAYS been this way with Ford. Take a 93 Mustang GT (205 Hp) vs a 93 F150 5.0, (185 Hp). There were almost always 10 extra ponies in the Vulcan in Taurus vs Ranger. Even Limas in the early 90s had 7? more ponies in Mustang Vs Ranger.

I really think HEVs and PHEVs will be key in the transition to electrification over the next 10-15 years.  Makes way more sense than trying to go full BEV only like Caddy just to compete with Tesla.  It didn’t work with BMW sedans either.  And competing with a company who sells their vehicles below cost is never a good idea unless you’re trying to go out of business.

Yep.  There goes America’s energy independence.  Now we will be able to start paying foreign countries for the same stuff because we have this dangerous mindset that human life should not impact the planet at all.

This “plandemic” was weapon used from the start.  Never has it been as bad as we are told.   Frankly, everything we’ve been told is a lie.  Masks work, we must shut down, heck even the WHO said it can’t pass human to human.  It’s all been wrong.

And interestingly, even though I can’t stand the guy, Musk was tested recently.  Took 4 tests in a row.  Same test, same nurse, etc.  2 came back negative and 2 came back positive.  And I bet you anything California counted his two positive tests as two new cases.

I think anyone who isn’t a blind follower of the media knows this was here far sooner than they told us.  A good number of my coworkers has all the symptoms a year ago.  No hysteria, no no shutdowns.  People got sick, then they recovered.  Some died.  People die every day. This hits people in poor health harder but that’s true with any illness.

It would be interesting to know what would happen if there wasnt the unmitigated hysteria, media and political lies, etc what would have happened.  I bet we would have been much better off.

So I take it you haven't been paying attention to the last 3 years of record low unemployment rates (including record lows for minorities) and one of the largest economic growth swings since WWII.

But tell me again how Republicans crater the economy 🙄

Also I think it's pretty clear on where I stand on the threat of COVID. So dangerous certain leaders won't even follow their own edicts. But I'm supposed to believe it's the most dangerous thing to have ever existed. GTFOH with that garbage.

I never said that.  I said vehicle price (whether it’s EV or ICE) is the biggest factor on sales volume, meaning a $40k vehicle will outsell a $80k vehicle every time assuming both are competitive in their segment.

In 2019 camry outsold the es350 336k to 51k.   By any stretch the ES350 is a better vehicle yet Camry outsells it 6 to 1.  Do you really think it’s all marketing?  Camry is cheaper.  Period.

With every $10k in price increase you lose a substantial number of potential buyers who simply can’t afford to or are unwilling to pay that much.

Marketing gets someone to buy your 50k vehicle over someone else’s 50k vehicle.

The notion that marketing just decides “this is going to be our highest volume model because we say so” and no other factors matter is absurd.   that’s not how it works.
